  1. I hate to see the morse code requirement droped. I think it is a refining process and if some people are not going to get into the hobby because of it they'll just find a new excuse now. The cream rises to the top.

I learned Morse Code while working 80 hours a week driving a truck w/o tapes, just a cheat sheet and my pucker. (I whistled it). If I can do that, anyone can learn it.

After I passed the 20 wpm exam I had Quite the glow of pride for my accomplishment. That is what the 20 wpm exam is to me.

  2. If you need an external antenna it will be a few more bucks(75-90$) but the 76c has the option to use one so if you find that the unit doesn't work well in the car you can get the antenna for it. (Doesn't come in the auto navigation kit).

I have a Garmin Gps Map 76 cs and I like. I have the whole state of Michigan in the unit in City select and Topo Plus some of Canada, Ohio and Indiana. Pretty handy when you don't know where your going. The autoroutting feature is a handy tool. If I'd of known I would of bought one alot sooner.

Look at the website http://www.gpsonsale.com for prices. They seem to have the best prices on the Gps units, I shopped elsewhere for my accessories though.

  3. Hello I currently own a etrex vista with 24 megs of internal memory and I also have map source topo usa. I have downloaded the entire state of michigan (lower) into the gps and some of the upper not to mention the map boundries are not perfect with the state boundries so thier are parts of Ohio and Indiana, etc. So 24 megs is a lot of memory for a gps and downloadable maps.
