I'd be happy to look after them, they're not too far from where I live (North Ascot). I'll have to find them first though!

I'm 18, and use metric for everything other than driving and cycling, when I'll use imperial. But I can fairly easily visualise and convert between the two if I need to.

I forget whether you need to be a premium member or not to be able to get them, but if you download the *.gpx file from the cache's page under the co-ordinates, Google Earth will very happily open them

Just to knock one off your list, I believe the newer yellow/camos (such as mine) do have waas/egnos. I'd still upgrade if I had the cash though

Just been to the Cranbourne cache today, and there's plenty of room inside. Beware of the bull though!

You can load GPX files into Google earth. The 7000-odd UK caches slowed my computer down a tad though

I carry a compass, not only for navigation but also to help cache find, since my etrex doesn't have one of it's own. I've not seen a similar grid on one though, but I guess you could use the ruler on it just as well.

Came across this recently and thought it may be of some use to others here. Essentially, it's a see-through, credit card sized piece of plastic with a grid on. When placed over a square on an OS map, it allows you to gain a more accurate reading than guessing how far across the square an object is.
Mine came from www.where-wolf.com, but I suppose you could just as easily make your own if you wanted to. I've used it for marking waypoints out in the field, and find it works rather well.

I've had WAAS/EGNOS (Sats 33, 37 and 39) a few times here in the UK. You just need a fairly clear view of the horizon to the south. GPS works just fine

After visiting a cache in Scotland wrapped in a total of 3 plastic bags, I completely agree with everything in this thread. Was looking for a cache earlier today and nearly opened up a bag full of dog waste thinking it was what I was looking for.
I'll have to buy some Lock n locks when I next see some for my first cache placement, once I find a spot. the one I've found was in very good, nearly new, condition.

The only thing I can think of is that you may need to click in the area you want to scroll in order to make it 'active'. The wheel on my mouse can be a bit fussy sometimes.

I've got a domain from 123-reg, and hosting from http://www.34sp.com , where I find the support, should there be any problems, is excellent.

I was getting some sort of 'Could not load page error'.
I'm on O2 and I think various ports are blocked in their WAP service, which was why I wondered how it was grabbing the cache data. It doesn't particularily matter, cince I can access it all fine using GPRS. Just sits there saying 'connecting' on normal wap.

Out of interest, how does it fetch the cache data? As I can only retrive caches using GPRS and not normal GSM WAP.
Also, I couldn't get the http://gemoli.com:8080/gc/ to load on my phone (6600).

Updating, incase anyone else experiences the same problem:
After playing about for a while and some research, I've decided that the cable must be the problem.
In NMEA mode, the etrex sends data down the cable every two seconds, and this works, so the etrex -> PC connection is fine.
Garmin mode requires the PC to talk to the GPSr before it responds with anything, and since this does not work, I assume there must be a problem with the PC -> etrex wire. I'll contact the seller I bought the cable from and arrange a replacement, and shoot an email off to Garmin if I still can't communicate after that.

No PDA, as I've said it doesn't seem to be accessing the Com port thats the problem, since it'll happily feed me data in NMEA mode

I'm not entireley sure what you mean by that, but if you mean that the unit needs to be set to Garmin mode in order to transfer data, I've got that option set.
I've noticed that the latest camo software on the Garmin site is version 3.30, and I'm running 3.20. Maybe an update would do the trick? I'm not sure if I'd be able to though, since it won't talk to me in Garmin mode.

I hadn't thought of that, I'll have to paint it bright yellow and dangle it in front of the screen.
I've tried using GPS Utility, Easy GPS, GSAK and Tracklogs (a UK mapping program), and all of them haven't been able to spot the GPSr. I'm a little confused, since everything works in NMEA mode

I recieved the serial cable for my new etrex today, but am having some problems with getting the PC and GPSr to talk to each other.
If the etrex is in NMEA Out mode, I can connect to the COM port using hyperterminal and see data coming in. I can also use NMEA to track my position in GPSU. The problem occurs when I want to transfer waypoints etc., as in 'GARMIN' mode I recieve errors from each program I try saying 'Timed out' or 'No data recieved'.
Any advice on what to try would be appreciated, and I'm running windows XP.
