  1. I met up with a guy today while geocaching who was on his first hunt. I think the area is picking up more cachers now. An event cache would be the ticket to get everyone together. It doesn't have to be something extravagant. It could be meeting up at a burger joint or some other restuarant. I know the Charlotte area guys do that some. Maybe a poll would be a good idea on what to do.
  2. It's fun to place caches in places that you vacation. Virtual caches, albeit, are the best bet, even though the "actual caches" are more fun to find. You'll still get good response from your virtual caches, depending on where they are. Besides, if you can't be around to maintain your cache, I say ixnay on the "actual" and ok on the virtual.
  3. Hey, I wish I could attend this. My parents live just a few minutes from there. I've yet to get the caches already in Wannamaker park, but I'll take them some day. Have a good hunt!!
  4. I'm back now that I have fixed the computer. The TGC sounds good to me. I need a little incentive to get out in the hot heat anyway. I'm sure we have enough people around here to make up a fine group of cachers.
  5. So I hear that this was a one of a kind cache hunt. I'm jealous already. Joeybob told me about his attempt to foil Hawk-eye and Triffid. I must admit, that was a nasty snake, El Diablo. I'm sure that was a big big laugh. And putting a cache on the car? You are one of a kind. But, my hat goes off the Hawk-eye and Triffid for their accomplishments. I hope to reach that milestone here shortly. I can't say I'd want El Diablo concocting up some evil scheme for me. Well....now that I think about, the thought has crossed my mind...

  7. Forget about those ticks, Hawkeye. They can't touch you on your 100th cache adventure!

  9. Dang, I go out of town for the weekend, and come back to a multi CITY cache?? Nice work. I can't wait to see this one.
  10. What about the McDonald's Happy Meal Toys??
  11. I really see your point, and I've often thought about people like that. But just for a minute, then I remember why I geocache. (Just for fun and excercise) I know some people are really competitive at it, and that is to be expected. I just like the fact of finding caches (honestly). You can't really control other people. Besides, what goes around, comes around. People like that, get what's coming to them sooner or later. That's the way I think about it. By the way, thanks for being the first person to log my first cache. I thought no one would ever get to it!!!
  12. Joeybob might be able to help on a multi cache. I've only hid one (a virtual cache), but I have a few ideas that might help you.
  13. Thanks DonnaG for sharing that site online. It is a very helpful site to have.

  15. Long hand, you can use sine and cosine to figure coords using a triangle, or..........project a point with your GPS handheld. Doesn't GPS sound sooooo much more easy?

  17. How about you just get together with some fellow geocachers and have a beer, and tell some stories? No really, I think the pin thing could work. I would like to have a pin when I get to that milestone. People geocache for different reasons. Some make it a family time thing. Some geocache alone. Some geocache with others. Geocaching is very competitive for a lot of people, and for others, just a fun relaxing way to get outside. It's a serious thing for some and not for others. So, I WANT MY PIN AND A BEER!!!!!!!! Just kidding.
  18. I just got back from a 5 mile, 2 cache trek at Falls Lake. I think I'm ready for Greensboro and Greenshields too.

  20. I just read the Hawk 14 and Challenge cache pages. Sounds like a pretty hard hunt. Maybe Joeybob and I need to get together and brew up a few multiple caches of our own around here.

  22. quote:I suggest you get a motel room, because you won't find either in one day.Of course if you do.....Hawk and I would be happy to buy you a beer! This sounds like a challenge doesn't it Joeybob? I think we may have to come up and hit that one on our way to Charlotte. We need a good warm up anyway. Just kidding! JC364, you can come down too for the celebration.
