  1. I would like to add a stats display on my profile and I have not decided which one I like the best, yet. I would like to know your favorite program to use? Why do you like your favorite and have you used any other programs to generate stats? Those with angst need not apply...
  2. And if you really want it on your profile, add the link in your profile... This is an awsome idea. I just took this advice myself and put some links in my profile.
  3. If you want to blend into the background for an urban cache, just dress like this: The best way to be ignored is to look like you are supposed to be there. I have never went to this extreme, but when was the last time you saw someone in a hard hat and thought "why are they there, what are they looking for?"
  4. Oh no, they figured it out, quick hide… C'mon Starbrand, thanks for ruining my day. I thought I was the only one who knew about this. Not really. Alright, everyone together now… "Thaaankssss StarrrrBraaannd !!!" But if it is unpublished, how do you find it? Don't tell, the man doesn't want them to know...
  5. ++How about an example: The USA and Russia were once in a race to be the first to the moon. They both had the same basic knowledge to begin with and each traded the lead in the race. Eventually, the USA found a way to gain an edge. I suspect they never once thought "Hey guys, lets be a good sport and give away some of our secrets." Meanwhile, I am like the Germans. I know how to get off the ground, and will tell you if you ask, but don't really need it for myself. I do accept cash or check (made out to my friend CASH).... Fair... races are never fair. There is FIRST and all the rest. ++ note: (this is just an fun analogy, don't pick apart every word)
  6. Going into a grey area now: In my case, I was responding to the question "Can you…". and the answer I found is "sort of". To me it is not about fairness or an advantage. This site has specifically chosen to not allow all cachers to see unpublished listings and I respected that choice in my post. Personally, there are a few reasons I have not used the method I hinted at. Top of the list is that it really isn't part of MY game. If I am FTF great, but I don't scramble to be the first. I just found the loophole by accident one day. If the original poster or Groundspreak NEED to know, then they can PM me.
  7. I believe I have a way... under certain circumstances. The owner has to do something quite innocent and I just happen to be doing something related . Good luck if you can figure out what I just said. it has nothing to do with them telling me the coords or stalking the owner until he places it . I have never searched for the unpublished caches, but after they were found, I checked the location and found that I was not exact, but probably could have found it if it wasn't a devious hide. edit for spellin'...
  8. Just wait for a woodpecker to make a new home, boot it out and hide the micro there.
  9. This is an awsome feature of Google Maps. It looks like it is only available for in major cities at this time. It will be quite a while before it comes to my area and I probably wouldn't use it for caching if it did.
  10. The GPSr came first for me. I was doing some research to find the right GPSr for use with my ATV. I wanted to mark out some local trails and use when in unknown territory. While searching the web, I came across the geocaching page on the Garmin website. I bought an eTrex and found my first cache within a week. I no longer have the ATV, but still cache regularly.
  11. I have not decided to do any less caching due to the rising prices, but I don't have to go too far out yet to still find available caches. An example: Caching trip = 100 miles driving (rarely to go this far) Milage = 20 MPG (mine gets 25) this means 5 gallons used (assuming no idling). Last month $2.999 for a gallon costing $15.00 for the trip I paid $3.159 for a gallon on Thursday costing $15.80 for the trip. So realistically I only paid an extra $0.80 for the day. I hate paying more today than I did yesterday for something, but it really is not that much more. You could always car pool to caches or wait to do caches in one area at once.
  12. The bug I received, "Yesan, Korea (South)" Unite for Diabetes Travel Bug," has this goal: "The goal for this Unite For Diabetes Travel Bug is to raise awareness of diabetes by traveling to Yesan and within Yesan, collecting photographs and geocaching logs along the way. Please log your visit and move me to a new geocache. " "This Unite for Diabetes Travel Bug is dedicated to the people in Yesan, Korea (South) who have been affected by Diabetes." There are 22 caches within 50 miles of N 36° 41.400 E 126° 50.400 For some reason I didnt think the TB would be activated when I recieved it.
  13. How did you get this map? I am a Premium Member, but I cant figure it out. Thanks.
  14. Tried it, it is just what I was looking for. thanks.
  15. I just placed my first cache. I know of the list that is CURRENTLY in the cache, but does anyoe know if there is a way to get a list of all the TB's and Coins that have ever been in my cache?
  16. I have an eTREX Legend C and have the same problem with the rubber coming loose around the top of the unit where the buttons and USB port are located. I believe it did this because I left it on my dashboard in the bright sun. I didn't think that Garmin would fix it under warranty, but perhaps I will try if they have repaired it for others.
  17. I just placed my first cache. I wanted to "watch" it so that I could get emails on the activity on the cache. When I tried, an error message was displayed saying I didnt have to watch the cache because "As the owner of a cache, you already watch it."
  18. I believe you are refering to this World Caches image.
  19. I have a solution to your problem that has nothing to do with email blocking. Try copying the text from the logs into an on-line text translation program. One I use frequently is Altavista Babel Fish Translation. Just paste the text into the webpage, select the To and FROM languages and hit TRANSLATE. it will translate most words in the block of text unless they are slang or local dialect.
  20. When I started caching I was 27, I am currently 29 and counting.
  21. Wavector, It sounds like you have had or have seen too many TB/coins stolen. I think you are taking my words too literally. When I "trade" a TB or Geo-coin, I dont claim ownership. I simply mean that I take one out of the box and put another one in. It is a very simple idea. When I say that "I want" a TB or Geo-coin, I dont claim ownership or steal it from the owner. I just would like to hold it/ itake it home with me. I fully intend on returning both to the wild. Also, there are quite a few TB's with the sole mission of "just traveling around" and not "I want to visit all the weird red rocks." Then it becomes a selfish reason to remove a TB or coin from a cache just because I like something about it, wife likes it, kids like it, etc... It is good to know that the caching community does not expect me to put a TB in the cahe when I decide to remove one. At times I have left some behind because I didnt have one when I walked in. I guess I just assumed that I should put one in one if I took one.
  22. I have an eTREX Legend C and have always wondered what that "D" was for on the Sat's page.
