  1. I Agree, first to sign the log is FTF. But i guess it will fall on the CO to assign FTF. Weather they check the cache log or go buy the internet log will be up to them. That is if they want to acknowledge FTF in the cache description.
  2. Check out the blog. http://blog.geocaching.com/
  3. Depends on the location of the hide. In an urban area you'll want to keep things visible to prevent any bomb scares. Out in the woods camo it up and make it harder to find. As for how to camo it that will depend on the container being used.
  4. They are just now going on sale? One of each went up for sale on Ebay yesturday. Is that your account or has someone gotten an advanced set? Here are the listings. http://cgi.ebay.com/Roads-End-Geocoin-Limited-Edition-NEW-UNACTIVATED-/260718125681?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb402e271 http://cgi.ebay.com/Roads-End-Geocoin-Regular-Edition-NEW-UNACTIVATED-/260718122268?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb402d51c
  5. Ant Gold and bronze will look great on this. A Terracotta special edition would be sweet as well.
  6. All this needs are mirrors glued to the back of the display case so you can get a look at the back side. That's also reminds me. I have a display case with a glass door, glass shelves and a mirror in the back. It will be perfect for displaying my growing collection. I think we got it about 10 years ago.
  7. Your so worried about being made a fool that you forgot to ask your question. So what is it you want to know?
  8. That looks alot better. The more front on view looks like it could be displayed easily. Is a fully cut out coin like that going to work in Terracotta? Just seems like it might have to be a rectangular coin
  9. They are pretty good. Most people use the Sterilite version of those containers since they are a bit cheaper. I find in home use the Rubermaid seal better. Most cache containers i've seen that are not amo boxes or disposable Ziplock containers are the sterilite ones. So Rubermaid should be a bit better.
  10. I found a great deal on 20mm compasses on Amazon. For just over $8 after shipping i got 24 of them. I originally got them to add them to the families hiking sticks. The rest have become swag items. I think when i run out i'll be buying more of them. As i recall there is also a pack of 48 you can get. Amazon has all sorts of deals like that on small items great for swag. Here is the 24pc set. http://www.amazon.com/Wholesale-24pc-20mm-Small-Compasses/dp/B004I8D2RI/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1294413718&sr=8-10 Here is the 48pc set. http://www.amazon.com/Wholesale-48pcs-Small-Compasses-survival/dp/B001U34NYA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294413762&sr=8-1
  11. BTW, more to the point of the OP... I started collecting the coins for the art. Its kind of like collecting currency but much better. There is more variety and subject matter with Geocoins then can be found in currency. The traceability of the coins is an added bonus. These trackables remind me of a game some friends of mine plaid just a couple years before Geocaching started. I was in the Navy at the time. Friends of mine stole a lawn ornament off an old ladies lawn before we left for a 6 month deployment. Every stop we made we took pictures of the item in every location. When we got back they complied the pictures into a binder and left it with the ornament on the ladies lawn.
  12. Thanks for the suggestion. I've picked up a few "budget" coins for use in the various missions. Most of the coins i'm liking allot are not produced anymore so i have to get them in trade or through ebay. Still feeling out where i want to go with the collection.
  13. If your looking for a good Palm replacement and for paperless caching then an iPod Touch is a good option. Using teh Geocaching app you can stor all the info about caches in the iTouch. But if you don't want/need a PDA replacement then spending the money on a good GPSr that allows paperless caching would be a better fit.
  14. Good to know for when i find a TB in the future and want to drop it into a cache i've already visited.
  15. I just started buying and collecting coins. I'm even participating in a couple of upcoming missions. Plan to do allot of them going forward. When i started collecting i thought i would never want to release any of these $9 - $20+ coins into the wild for fear of loosing them. After reading this i may start releasing some.
  16. Looks as though the average used selling price is around $180. Heck i found one on ebay for about $197 brand new in box. My link So $200 with those extra's is a good deal. Wish i had the money. But i gotta build a new PC this year.
  17. KK, i made do with a Nuvi 1300 till i picked up a eTrex Legend H for Christmas. It just wasn't clear in the thread if this was a decent Caching unit or not. Wouldn't want people to spend the money thinking it could cover there caching needs.
  18. I've seen a 20 oz bottle top. Top cut off about 1/4 inch below the cap. The end was filled with epoxy and magnets stuck in the epoxy. Making a cap sized area for the log. It was placed in a medium sized cache as swag.
  19. If this where going to be the first GPSr someone owns would it be a passable Geocaching GPSr? I take it this unit doesn't have the nice direction and range pointer for navigation to a cache?
  20. If your on a Mac then that could be your problem. The device doesn't appear to have Mac support. If your on a PC it shouldn't be an issue. The computer should see it as a storage device. If not there may be some sort of driver conflict going on.
  21. Mine show in the lower left hand box as well and not under the device in the upper left box. When i click on the all data button the way points show in the box below. As far as i've seen thats the way it is. I've looked through the Youtube videos and don't see a difference. Is there one you can point to that shows the way you want it to be?
  22. You mention an ad but there is no link to one. You also forgot to mention how much your trying to sell it for.
  23. I think a personalized plate with the TB and the tracking number is a great idea. No need for the sticker. I'm not one for putting stickers on my car to beguine with. If i do they are on a window and can easily be removed in the future without damage to the car.
  24. I swear i just responded to this thread. Guess this is a duplicate from another section. I considered that case for my iTouch but s[pent that money on a new eTrex Legend H and use my iTouch to stay paperless.
  25. Bottom line is the iPad doesn't have driver support for devices like a GPSr. Now if someone has programmed drivers a jail broken iPad can use then you'd be able to make the connection.
