The iPhone is great isn't it......
mpilchfamily replied to The Blorenges's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Just an FYI... If you puch the power button and home button at the same time it'll take a screen shot for you. Then you can email the pics to yourself. Its better then taking a picture of the screen. -
fake or unauthorized Blue Canary geocoin on ebay
mpilchfamily replied to Blue Canary's topic in Trackables
Sweet, thanks for the tip! -
EGG isn't a Geocaching acronym. Where have you seen it and in what context? Here are the official terms. http://www.geocaching.com/about/glossary.aspx Here is a possibility for you. http://noosphere.princeton.edu/eggname.html

There may not be any local events scheduled yet but keep looking at the event calender and one may pop up. But it all depends on what you consider local. There may be events going on in your area but may be up to an hour away. Also try looking online for any caching organizations in your state.

fake or unauthorized Blue Canary geocoin on ebay
mpilchfamily replied to Blue Canary's topic in Trackables
It bugs me that so many none geocoins are listed as geocoins on ebay. Mainly i hate all the pathtags cluttering my geocoin search on ebay. Back on topic... its good to hear this has been resolved. -
You could always get a iPod Touch. But for that price you could probably find a GPSr that can do paperless caching. You could try comparability mode or set up XP in a VM. If you don't understand the lingo then your probably better off buying a replacement as your wanting to do.

To Mac users - What GPS should I get?
mpilchfamily replied to Gboyzmama's topic in GPS technology and devices
If your on a budget then look into a Used or Refurbished eTrex Legend H. Its the newer model of the Legend. Is has a more sensitive receiver and uses a regular USB cable to connect to your MAC. I got mine new for $109 on Amazon. -
It is as long as you can find a way to connect it's Serial cable to your Mac. You may be able to use a serial to USB connector but drivers may be hard to find for a MAC.

In November my Wife's uncle went through TSA with a pair of 8 foot long trees. He wanted to make a walking stick that could turn into a 3 legged stool and wanted to use a decent hardwood for it. Living in Utah there aren't many trees. So he pulled a couple of young oaks out of the ground. He wrapped them in duct tape to keep them together. They treated them like someone checking in a pair of skies.

I'm well aware of the back catalog of coins. Only wish there was a catalog of all the old coins. There are still 20 or 30 coins i know of that i want. Just haven't sat down and actually listed them all out. Been keeping an eye on e-bay to see what comes up then look for it else ware to see if i can find a better price. Finally got my hands on a couple i've been after from the start. They caused me to almost double the amount i've spent on coins so far. GOt the Ant Silver and Ant Bronze SpaceGate coins. Recently i've seen them go for over $100 each but i got them both for about $83. Didn't mean to get both. But i hedged my bet and bid on them both. Then when the silver one went over my $40 bid i bumped it up to $51 for the win. Paid $32 for the bronze. The first coin i got was one for the wife as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. So that helped to keep things on the up and up. The eye rolling is getting more intense with each new coin that comes in.

Need help Garmin etrex legend
mpilchfamily replied to lilstar7224's topic in GPS technology and devices
When the direction field (N,S,E,W) is highlighted use the up and down arrow on the screen to change the setting. Those fields should already have something in them. The decimal point never changes and should be in the correct place on the line already. The only 7 characters you have to enter are the numbers. Use the left and right arrows to navigate through the fields. There is no delete to highlight the character you want to change and select the new number. -
Go to the TB's page and log that you grabbed it. It'll be back in your inventory then you can log it into the correct cache.

This sort of request would be better suited here. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=217633

How much emphasis is put on stealth?
mpilchfamily replied to Faea's topic in General geocaching topics
The key is getting the cache in and out of its hiding place without being noticed. That way it's less likely for it to be stolen by a Muggle. -
So far so good. Waiting for my coin stands to arrive. We'll see how it goes as i get more coins.

Give it 48 hours or so.

Yep, Just when i thought i was good to go for a bit i saw the thread for the Year of the Rabbit coin. So i just had to reserve one. Would have reserved one of each finish but the wife would kill me. She'll already be upset when she finds out about the reservation. But the color and finish combos are perfect and covers the wife's, my son and my favorite colors.

Found a trackable Geocoin but don't know what to do
mpilchfamily replied to Mastersnapper's topic in Trackables
If there is no tracking number then its not trackable. If its tracakable it should say what site it trackable on and give you a tracking code of some sort. -
When i found out about Geocashing it came at a perfect time. For a long while now i've been looking for a good hobby that wouldn't cost a whole lot. So this was perfect. For an initial investment of a couple hundred bucks i could be caching regularly. Then i find out about the premium membership. $30 a year isn't bad and is a heck of alot better then paying $14 a month on World of Warcraft. Then i find out about Geocoins. Thus a new addiction beguines. I'm seeing all these really cool coins and wanting to buy them all. These things are hitting me hard in the wallet. Before i knew it i had spent about $100 on these coins. There are still many more i would like to get and more come out every week. I've also discovered all these fun missions with the coins. Why can't i find a great hobby that doesn't cost anything? For now the wife is supportive. She sees how much fun i'm having with it all. But the obsession with the coins is starting to have its affect on her. Anyone else have this kind of trouble brewing or happening? Guess i'll have to keep my collection limited for now and try to focus on just a few per year that i just gotta get.

A magnet isn't going to be an issue. They are worried about sharp objects and chemicals in medium to large containers.

Reserved mine. Wish i could get all 3 but my wife is already going to kill me over the coins i've gotten this month.
