  1. I can understand your frustration with the reviewer, but why would you punish fellow cachers by leaving their tb's unaccounted for? B. I didn't think it would be so hard to get a cache approved. I wasn't planning on hiking the 3+ miles to the final again the next day. Going out there for cache maintenance is once thing, and not expected for a few months at least, but I'm not going to hurry out there just so some silly tag can keep moving. I find the whole thing a bit offensive. I clicked that I had read the guidelines and adhered to them. I've "Proven" myself 200 times, I answered the normal questions before they were asked. Yet I still get treated as if I can't read and have no idea what I'm doing. I agree this list of questions would be helpful for a first time cache owner, or if the cache looks to be in a very urban area. I'm against anything that is a brainless "must do this, just because" and "zero tolerance" Why do these three questions require you to hike back out to the cache?
  2. I don't think it would be resented, a lot of people might justifiably put it on their personal ignore list though. What someone told you is not true. There are many tree climbing caches out there. You can even add attributes like: Climbing Gear Required Special Tool Required Tree Climbing Required
  3. I think this belongs in the "Worldwide Challenge Ideas" Forum...
  4. I trust you're not giving your fellow archery buddies a pass on this, right? Clearly, some were aware of what was taking place for years. Is this an EFAA affiliated club? The EFAA Handbook requires a club to maintain an "accident book" available for review and inspection at any time. Those prior events should have been noted in the book and made available to you and your club members, right? Has the Range Charter Officer been fully advised? It even appears a member of the archery club is a geocacher also and found the cache a couple years ago. http://coord.info/GL4HDR2Z
  5. If it is Red Rose Archers, I'm not sure why you have been so vague and withheld the location. As you can see in the post I made earlier, the Club even has a link to a custom google map right on the website.
  6. A guess of the location: http://www.redrosearchers.co.uk/contact.html http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=52.226958,-0.821571&spn=0.011251,0.026436&t=h&z=15&msid=109057735295439438918.00044f9bbb3c37a4860bc
  7. So I found a waymark nearby that has been duplicated and I was wondering if anything should be done. Here is the waymark: http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WM15P_Corn_Maze http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WM15Z_Thunder_Road_Farm The two marks are the same place, I've been to the waymark many years ago. They are both listed under the same category. They have identical coordinates (how?). They were posted by two different people. They were both approved by Jeremy on the same day about 30 mins apart. The same identical image is used for both. Is it possible to merge waymarks?
  8. I wonder how large of an investment it took to make all the plastic coins and trackable geocoins and if the return was actually worth it?
  9. You can. There is even a "Switch User" button on the home screen.
  10. Clayjar is aware of the issues and is working on it. Looks like it might be a DNS issue.
  11. It seems gcchat.clayjar.com(where the link leads to) might be having some issues. If anyone is familiar with IRC, you can access the room using your own IRC client. The chatroom server address is irc.slashnet.org and the channel is #geocache Currently there's over twenty people in the room.
  12. Just a simple question. Why is the Sub-Category "Laser Tag Facilities" under the main category "Winter (Sports) - Activities enjoyed that require a cold area and a frozen water element." It just seemed odd to be browsing the winter sports category and see all these laser tag places showing up. I don't see how laser tag is winter related.
  13. Does this app still exist? (Android user, so I don't know)
  14. Doing a quick google search I see it's a Android powered phone with GPS, so I would say that most likely you can. There are many geocaching apps in the Google Play store that you can download and go geocaching with.
  15. It's actually not Cachesense's fault. This is a limit Groundspeak has placed on any Basic Member who wants to use an app enabled with the "Groundspeak Live API". You definitely should complain to Groundspeak and Geocaching.com if you would like to see a change and not to Cachesense since there is nothing they can do about it.
  16. Any smartphone users out there? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdc.wetap#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiY29tLm1kYy53ZXRhcCJd http://www.pacinst.org/wetap/index.htm https://www.facebook.com/WeTapApp http://www.wetap.org
  17. Does it work? http://www.geocaching.com/hotels/default.aspx http://www.ihsadvantage.com/
  18. Does anyone use this feature? I didn't even know it existed until I noticed the link on the bottom of Waymarking.com http://www.geocaching.com/reviews/hotels http://www.ihsadvantage.com/
  19. I did a google image search for "public drinking fountain" and got better results than I was expecting. https://www.google.com/search?q=outdoor+drinking+fountain&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=8m9DUIG_DKbH6gGk9IHYCg&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1282&bih=633#hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=public+drinking+fountain&oq=public+drinking+fountain&gs_l=img.12..0j0i24l3j0i5i24l3.17278.18610.2.24407.2.2.0.0.0.0.137.263.0j2.2.0...0.0...1c.m9J1ZGcvRCE&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&fp=7edc4612ea671fab&biw=1282&bih=633 In my experience, I found public drinking fountains pretty rare. You always see them inside of stores and schools, but not too often out in the open. The proposed category was poorly written though.
  20. I forgot about these that I found out about a while ago Top of Tyrol http://ad009cdnb.archdaily.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/645499471_02.jpg Aurland Lookout http://giussani.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/aurlandlookout.jpg 5 Fingers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5_Fingers_(Austria) Olympic Stadium in Montreal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Le_Stade_Olympique_de_Montr%C3%A9al_Nuit_Arriere-Gauche.jpg
  21. Interesting, I have never heard of such a thing. I did some quick searching (so don't take this too seriously), but it seems like this is very Europe centric. I couldn't find any examples outside of Europe and most were in either Germany or the UK. Then again, I didn't look too hard.
  22. The Grand Canyon Skywalk would be an awesome waymark, except for the fact that cameras are not allowed! (Unless I'm mistaken!). Your idea of a category for Observation Decks is worth proposing in the forums. Thank you for bringing the idea here so you can get feedback from other waymarkers. Your right, they don't allow you to bring cameras on the deck. I think they charge a ridiculous fee if you want a picture of yourself using their own mounted camera. The skywalk is already marked under the Wikipedia category right now. I just found another neat deck here: http://www.Waymarking.com/gallery/image.aspx?f=1&guid=48e24746-3c57-404d-a583-279a75fd1412
  23. So I've had the idea for a new category in the back of my mind for a little bit and I figured I'd toss it out here. I haven't put a lot of thought into it yet though, so I'm not officially going to propose anything in the near future. Just wanted to see what others though. My new category proposal would be "Observation Decks" (I think) What I'm talking about are all those special places tourists(mostly) go to get a great view of their surroundings. Specifically it would be some sort of structure with a viewing platform for the public. Some more unique ones which made me think of the possible category are: Penobscot Bridge and Observatory http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penobscot_Narrows_Bridge_and_Observatory Thomas Hill Standpipe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Hill_Standpipe The Grand Canyon Skywalk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon_Skywalk Some other would be: Skyscraper observation decks, i.e. the 86th and 102nd floors of the Empire State Building Decks located on towers like the three levels of the Eiffel Tower, the Space Needle, The CN Tower Things like the Statue of Liberty, Washington Monument and a bunch of others http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observation_deck There may be some redundancy for the category "scenic overlooks", but those are mostly just any particular place with a good view and mostly trailside. I'm thinking of a specific structure that has part of it designated for observing. Also, it could possibly be redundant with "Look-out Towers" but that seems kinda limiting. Also, many of these would fit into other categories, but that isn't really isn't an issue. I've been getting interested in Waymarking more lately and this is just something that came to mind.
  24. I wouldn't mind being an officer for the Fish Hatchery category.
  25. My hometown has a U.S. Mail by boat service that operates in the summer months. The zip code is 04918. Here is a recent article about the service, it includes a ride-along video: http://www.pressherald.com/news/mail-by-boat-stays-afloat-for-now_2012-06-25.html
