  1. Nope. It's been proposed before, but the developers have decided to only focus on geocaching.
  2. Do like I do and cross out the cheaters' names. Really... Cheaters? And this accomplishes what exactly? Troll much?
  3. Is there a particular director it is saved to? I think I got as far as saving the KML file but then couldn't find it when I looked through the directory tree. I'm not sure where exactly it would be saved to on your Galaxy Tab. Although my Galaxy Nexus doesn't have any SD Card capabilities, it still has a folder in the internal storage named sdcard0. This is where the app saved the gpx files I created when testing it out.
  4. I received mine on Tuesday. Much better quality than last year's gecko.
  5. I came across a homeless camp yesterday. The cache was located at the site of some stone ruins from the 1800's. Here is a photo. There were plenty of beer bottles and cans around the area. I didn't read the logs before hand, but here is one from April:
  6. I pretty much exclusively use my Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Waymarking (use my phone and an Oregon for geocaching though). The app GPS Essentials can export waypoints as a gpx or kml file. Here is the app manual https://4310b1a9-a-b...&attredirects=0 Thank you for the manual to this application. I previously had difficulty accessing it via Google Play. However, I note there is only one reference to KML files in the doc and that is in relation to tracks. I didn't see any mention of the GPX functionality in the doc. Does the Nexus have an SD card adapter? For the online help, it seemed to me that GPS essentials may require it for KML export. Unfortunately, the Tab 8.9 does not have one. It seems the manual might be out of date. The Nexus doesn't have an SD card slot, only internal memory. Here are the steps though. Open up the app. Click on the Waypoint icon. Click the (+) plus symbol to add a new waypoint. Fill in the "Name" field and the description field if you want. Then click the ActionBar icon(aka the Menu Button, might look like three square dots or lines). Then chose the "Export" option. Default is KML, but if you click on that, a dropdown shows up that lets you choose KML(Google Earth), KML(Google Maps), GPX 1.0, or GPX 1.1. Choose whichever you want. After that you have two buttons to choose from. One is the "Share" button(three dots in the shape of a triangle) or the "Export" button. If you choose the Export button, the file will be saved to your storage. You can then access this storage by plugging your device into your computer with a usb cord. If you choose the "Share" button, it should give you some options to share the file with other app you may have installed For example it lets me send the file to my gmail app so I can email it to someone or myself, to my Dropbox account, to my Google Drive account, and a couple other options.
  7. It looks like the CO copied this: http://www.geocachin...ache_types.aspx The funny thing is that the CO doesn't even use clues on his page even though he quoted that in his explanation.
  8. The CO is completely wrong. I wonder if that was added post publication. No disagreement from me, but here is the CO's reasoning http://coord.info/GL9130R6

  10. http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMFCQ1_Orono_Bog_Boardwalk It's a boardwalk, so there isn't a large variety amongst the photos. I just took photos along the entire route to document the entire Waymark completely. There are a bunch of educational stations along the way. Also, it was a wet day, which isn't great for photos, but oh well.
  11. What are you supposed to do for a Waymark that occurs annually(at the same location)? For example, I have a waymark I would like to submit that I visited this year, but I don't know yet the exact dates for next year. What the system seems to be encouraging is to submit a new waymark every year before the festival happens, since it asks for a very specific date(or date range), which includes the year, of the event. Which would mean a waymark for "State Balloon Festival 2010", "State Balloon Festival 2011", "State Balloon Festival 2012", "State Balloon Festival 2013", etc. Maybe it is expected that the owner update the waymark page each year, but looking at other annual festivals submitted it appears that this never happens. Here is a specific example: http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WM4P83_Colorado_Balloon_Classic_Colorado_Springs The mark was submitted in 2008, with the dates it was held in 2008 and the number of balloons that were in attendance that year. Waymarkers have visited this festival almost every year since. The days of the month and number of balloons fluctuate each year.
  12. After you draw up the list of Nearby Caches, press the phones Menu button and then press "View on Map". If you scroll away from the nearby caches, you can press the phones Menu button and then press "Search Here". One of the great things I like about apps with a "Live Map" is that you can be driving down the road and the app automatically populates the map with the surrounding caches. No need to mess with your phone and do a new search every couple miles.
  13. I'm not a fan of this idea. There are already way too many throw-downs out there and if this was implemented I think the number of throw-downs would explode.
  14. A series becomes a powertrail once it breaks the "Please don't hide a cache every 600 feet just because you can" guideline that disappeared this year.
  15. I recently visited a fire tower on the National Historic Lookout Register, so if the category gets approved, you'll have a quick submission from me.
  16. Are you trying to restrict regular caches from being placed to close to an event? If so, why? There are no proximity rules between events and regular caches, so what you are asking wouldn't change anything.
  17. Edited my first post. I ment to say "I even attached coords to over a dozen of them" not "I even attached photos to over a dozen of them". Attaching a photo to a photo sounds a little ridiculous.
  18. What usually is the case is that software on your computer is automatically rotating the photo as it appears on your computer based on the metadata in the photo, the site does not read that data and does not do the auto rotation. Everything looks fine on my computer. I take photos with my phone, which then automatically get uploaded to my Google account in the field. Once I'm home, I download the ones I want to use to my comp. All the photos were fine except for the one panoramic photo that got rotated 90degrees after I uploaded it to Waymarking.
  19. What category? It must be one I'm not familiar with, since I've never posted a waymark that required coordinates for a photo. I am familiar with some categories that require a coordinate with the visit log, however. Learned something new. U.S. National Natural Landmarks But after rereading the rules, it says the coordinates need to be in the description of each photo. I used the attach coordinates feature though. Does the attach coordinates feature for photos actually do anything?
  20. What's odd is that the uploading process rotates my photo's orientation by 90 degrees. I guess I just can't upload panoramic photos then.
  21. I just submitted a waymark with 55 photos. It sure took a while to upload. I even attached coordinates to over a dozen of them. Too many photos? What's the most you've posted at once(new submission or log)?
  22. I just submitted a waymark that requires that you add coordinates to each photo in the submission. After doing this, I'm not seeing where these coordinates show up on the listing or the gallery. Do the attached coordinates just disappear without a purpose? Also, I entered the incorrect coordinate for one of my photos. Is there a way I can fix this?
  23. I have an instance where I want to edit an uploaded waymark photo, but I can't see how. For some reason, a panoramic photo that I uploaded refuses to upload with the correct location. I need to rotate the photo 90degrees clockwise after I upload it. Can I do this? This is a photo I included in a newly submitted waymark, not a visit or comment log.
  24. Do you prefer feedback on the app emailed to you or posted on the forum?
  25. There's a geocaching chat already setup. If you scroll down to the "Related Topics" section you'll see something called "ClayJar's Geocaching Chat". This is an IRC room. You can chat with the entire group or have a private conversation with any of the members. There are currently around two dozen people in the chatroom, although it fluctuates. If you are familiar with IRC you can connect to the room with your own client instead of using the provided options. The server address is irc.slashnet.org and the channel is #geocache
