  1. You might get a better response if you post this in the Benchmarking Forum http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=40
  2. I found out about Little Free Libraries a few months ago and thought it was very neat. I may make one of my own. Check out these links: http://www.littlefreelibrary.org/ http://www.bookcrossing.com/ http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=49234692-5364-4ee8-b6cf-b4003f9b6158&r=10
  3. There's a group of geocachers who have been organizing cruises for a while now. Here's some upcoming cruises: S. Caribbean http://www.vacationsmadeez4u.com/rw/view/1435 Alaska http://www.vacationsmadeez4u.com/rw/view/1749 Bermuda http://www.vacationsmadeez4u.com/rw/view/1819 There's other cruises already in the works also. There's also facebook groups for geocaching cruises.

  5. Yes, I just noticed this issue also after I started a Bug Report http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=305257
  6. I figured I should start a bug report for this since I started a thread in the benchmarking forums. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=305118 Ever since the recent site wide icon update, the "Destroyed" icon has been missing from individual benchmark pages. Here is an example of a page that has a "Destroyed" log, but the icon is just an empty square box: http://www.geocaching.com/mark/details.aspx?PID=PE0482 What is odd is that the icon still appears on location search lists, as can be seen here: http://www.geocaching.com/mark/nearest.aspx?lat=44.784417&lon=-68.751100 Although, when the new icons initially appeared, I don't recall seeing the "Destroyed" icon anywhere, including search list, which makes it even odder. I could be mistake on that part though. Note: This is unrelated to the recent issue with the image server.
  7. Yes, the image server seems to be down again.
  8. Groundspeak has something like 60+ employees I think. They definitely have graphic pros. In fact, here is the person most likely responsible for the new icons: Nate Cavanaugh Graphic Designer - Groundspeak Specialty - Icon Design http://www.linkedin....anaugh/4/78a/16
  9. Why have a "Wireless Beacon" Atribute if you aren't going to allow wireless technologies? NFC is getting more and more popular. It has many applications beyond just mobile banking, and geocaching could be one of these. NFC is incredibly more popular than Chirp(ANT) and millions of NFC capable devices are being sold each month.
  10. Looks like in the recent site icon update the Destroyed icon has gone M.I.A.
  11. I like these much better. Good job. I'd leave the "Note Posted" icon square though, so it looks less like the "Log your visit" icon. I think the "Note Posted" icon is a square, so as to look like a Post-it ® note.
  12. Add these ones, which will sneak under the radar: (removed since I exceeded my image limit in a single post) Some more new icons for the list: (removed since I exceeded my image limit in a single post) And some more: (removed since I exceeded my image limit in a single post) There are more that I'm missing including some I had trouble getting urls for the icons like "edit coordinates" and "personal cache note". More for the list: (removed since I exceeded my image limit in a single post) Member Icons: I give up for now. There's a bunch more that exist. For example see "Pocket Queries"

  16. Is the Geocaching Association of Great Britain(GAGB) something similar to this? Does Groundspeak work with GAGB? I'm in the US, so I don't know anything about how geocaching works across the pond, but it seems like GAGB is more than just another regional geocaching organization. http://gagb.co.uk/
  17. Unless the Curiosity rover placed one recently and it just hasn't been published yet, then no, there is not a cache on Mars.
  18. I recently found benchmark labeled US Coast & Geodetic Survey Benchmark~ Elevation Feet Above Mean Sea Level~ E 116 ~ 1934 1. Is there some way to log this on the geocaching web page? 2. Is the 1934 the elevation at that point or is that the year that it was placed in the ground? 3. Terrain maps show the elevation in the area at about 3000 feet so how does 1934 fit in? 4. How do I find the "Benchmarks" data base. Do you have photos? 1. Is this the one you found? http://www.geocaching.com/mark/details.aspx?PID=TN0305'>http://www.geocaching.com/mark/details.aspx?PID=TN0305 2. Year Monumented 3. Year Monumented 4. Located at the bottom of geocaching.com is "Find a Benchmark" http://www.geocaching.com/mark/
  19. Solution? Pressure! Waymark community strike! No more new Waymarks, until the GS fix these bugs! (btw it's little bit pity, that this topic is by GS overlooked for four days without any response...) I have a feeling that Groundspeak wouldn't care too much if there was a "strike" and would just shutdown Waymarking.com. Who knows, maybe that's what they secretly want us to do, so they can completely forget about the site once and for all.
  20. I just noticed something interesting when viewing this list: http://www.Waymarking.com/statistics.aspx?f=1 When you select the "Include Regions?" box there are some peculiar regions listed for some countries. Here are a couple I found(there may be more, I did quite glance through): Alabama belongs to the US(3485 waymarks), Canada (1 waymark), and the Czech Republic (2 waymarks). Eastern England belongs to the UK(5090 waymarks) and the US(1 waymark).
  21. The ebay seller is making a killing on these http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=kasper0701&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller gtsally has spent at least $332.50 on the Jeeps already.
  22. Here are some: http://www.geocaching.com/live/partners/ There are other apps not listed, since they don't use the Live API, but are still ok to use. Apps like GeoBeagle and such which require you to import PQs/GPXs ahead of time. They don't access geocaching.com in real-time.
  23. It's odd that Groundspeak would create a system to distribute souvenirs to people and also create the artwork for this, yet only apply a select amount of these. What a waist of the artwork that has been created.
