Thank you for all the help. I can't wait to start trying my hand at the puzzle caches now.
Thank you to the OP for asking this question.

I live in the 'burbs of a large city and the number of caches here will keep me busy for years.

I was reading a thread on FountainPenNetwork.com about other hobbies people might have. I did more reading on it, found a few caches before buying our GPSr to see if we would like it well enough to sink money into it. We did and are planning an adventure for this weekend.

I always have a pen and tweezers. I forgot my tweezers on one trip and I about never got the log out of the container. I had to use two car keys like tweezers to grab and pinch it.

I installed VantagePoint and so far haven't figured out the usefulness of it. I'm wondering if GSAK might prove useful. What exactly are these programs supposed to help me do? I'm interested in smoothing out the process and keeping my info in one place, but I don't want to need several programs to do that. TIA

Thanks for the help. My new GC arrived today and I'm about ready to use it as a door stop! I didn't think VantagePoint worked for the GC, at least that is what I thought I read.
Thanks again.

This will be our first hiking GPS. I like the idea of using the same unit to turn by turn to the area of a cache and using the hiking mode to get to the cache. We went caching last weekend and we discovered the amount of paper for just 3 caches is more than I care to tote around. We also couldn't look for more caches since I hadn't printed them. We're not flush with cash but would like a 60csx unit but with paperless features. We appreciate any ideas.
Thx

We have only 6 finds and are perplexed by a few things. How do you conquer the apprehension of someone asking you what you are doing? Muggles are to be avoided, but wouldn't that be a good way to introduce people to geocaching? Trying to find a GPS unit that will fit our needs. Puzzles. Some make no sense to me.
edited to add.

MrsSQ works at a local church that has a cemetery. The plots are $1k each and they are VERY strict on what you can do with them. No large headstones, no trinkets, no plantings. Dunno what the thinking is behind all that.
Ease of care. It's easier to mow a flat surface than to mow and weedeat around lots of markers, plantings, etc.

AB9WX. New ham here and new to geocaching.

How many banners are there to choose from? I only see 5 banners but have letters with radio buttons all the way to h which is 8 choices.
TIA
