  1. I have a coin in Ireland which apparantly has been retrieved from it's cache (not yet logged and taken many days ago) but the plastic flip was left behind in the cache. The flip has it's Mission clearly stated. Then there's the coin's page which also clearly states its Mission, etc. Lastly, I drill my coins and attach GC Buddy. Of course, this can be detached if one wants the coin bad enough. So how does a cacher NOT know this coin does not belong to them and NOT theirs to keep?
  2. I went back and read some of the history of this coin. I really like it's original intention; a bond between the land and cacher. Like many others, I have a few ideas for a personal coin, and mine relates to saving open spaces. Thanks Toojin for posting this.
  3. Yup.... a drawer full of pretty, shiny things taken from others - ooooh what joy. A young friend of mine forgot his baseball mitt on the playing field. He went back half an hour later after discovering the loss and found it in another kid's hands. He told the kid he had just lost that particular mitt and the kid just looked at him like he was nuts - he'd found it so it was his.... and his parents agreed. Family values!! or lack thereof.......
  4. I'll vouch for your integrity Clan Doyle. We traded and all went well
  5. It's upsetting people are stealing, and we, the honest cachers are financing it. Even worse is that it takes some of the enjoyment out of "the game." Those who enjoy moving coins for others are denied, and we are denied seeing all these coins.
  6. Whoo Hoo! Congrats on getting a couple back. I love to hear about them surfacing again.
  7. Welcome. It's best to look for a 2nd job now!
  8. Whoo Hoo! Way to go Michigan Cacheman and Clan Doyle. I'm right behind you (haha)
  9. Wow, I'm impressed. I checked out the new Wiki page. And a great thread too. Going to come back later and look at everything in detail. Thanks forthferalz for all your hard work
  10. Still trying........I have either the Tahiti or New Zealand available. Check out my trade list to see if there's something else. Or even my "keepers." There's some I'd be willing to part with. Trade made. Thanks
  11. LMAO! That's very diplomatic of you. Ya, I suppose. And I'll take my share of the blame for that too since I don't contribute much anymore either. I still lurk around the site a lot but most threads don't interest me much. I think someone hit it on the head before..too many coins and you can buy them pretty much at any time. I think a lot of the appeal of geocoins in the "old" days was the trading and trying to get that hard to find coin. The appeal of pathtags - other than being cheaper - is they have a tremendous trading community and that's how they get to know each other so well and there always seems to be something to chat about. When I first started in geocoins I traded (and bought) a lot of coins. Now my interested are mainly the older coins and those don't get traded very often...so for me the fun of geocoins has fallen off a bit. I still like to design coins but I think the Dragon Ladon might be the last we do. I really like this forum and wonder what I can do to help bring some folks back - or maybe it's just the natural progression of things and just need to move with the flow... Maybe the vets can post what they DID LIKE. Some don't like missions or cointest; others do. What kind of missions did you like you haven't seen? Same with cointests. If you're not interested in cointests or missions, what topics do you want to discuss?

    GIFT GIVER

    Thanks kini_ont.
  13. A great idea. I'm all for keeping the integrity of coins intact. Maybe a sticky?
  14. Well, I think Penny and Kona spoke from the heart. I've only been in the coin discussions for a few months. But I love collecting coins, finding coins in caches (TB's too), and even though there's the risk of coins being stolen; still releasing them. From the beginning I've been astounded by the generosity and creativity of this group. I've been amazed by many of the coin designs, and some of the Missions I've seen, blown away by what people have put together. We are a virtual group. Maybe somehow it doesn't seem as real or as meaningful. I for one would love to meet many of the people I've developed communications with. I've developed warm feelings for those I've never seen because, if I'm lucky, I've shared in a comraderie of how "these coins can make us feel." It's not about ownership, value, or quantity (though those are OK too), but what a coin evokes for us when we see it and pick it up. We have a chance as a group to respectfully discuss what we'd like to have the forum be; what we'd like it to evolve into. Like Penny and Kona, I'm interested in what the newbies and veterans have to say...........

    GIFT GIVER

Yes it is 1 of my all time favorites. I don't recall a post from a Gift Giver before, have you? Anyways, I'm very lucky and thankful.
  16. I have amnesia. I can't remember the "Day GC WAS DOWN!" Denial keeps one safe
  17. I'm doing my best to get a Four Muskateers; Marine, Royalist Blue OR purple on gold.
  18. Anyone is Israel willing to drop a coin for me? Thanks.
  19. I did binders for a while but it's so hard to keep them in any particular order with binders. I like to keep mine alphabetically. I reorganized a while back using Lock-n-Lock boxes: CF30, I see you have 2 rows in each box? Is there something to separate the rows? Are the coins in regular flips? What sizes are the lock 'N locks?
  20. Yea, I use the drawer method!
  21. Thanks Opalsns. I'll look at the next post of members to see which mission I'm in.
  22. Thanks for taking the time to return someone's coin to the game.
