  1. I'm pretty pleased with my I3. I also have a Medion PNA 150 which has a bigger screen and a slightly less irritating voice - but it cost £220, has been back to Medion twice, and the map 'freezes' quite often.

The I3 seems to do the job pretty well- and the interface is amazingly simple and well-thought-out.

But did you know that if yours came with the version 7 maps you can send the little transflash card back to Garmin UK for a free upgrade to ver 8??

I don' t have the details to hand but a quick search on Google should expalin all...

Try searching for 'Freepost Garmin' or look around on www.pocketgpsworld.com

  2. I didn't start this topic as a complaining thread - I started it simply to show the message I was getting when I was trying to log in and to let people know that there seemed to be a problem. If I had thought about it I would have locked it as soon as I opened it. It was opened several days ago and I am now going to lock it before it gets to the point where people start saying unreasonable and / or uncalled for things.

  3. and before anyone flames me ... its not exactly a huge amount of money we spend to be PMs ... its the travel bugs and coins that I keep buying that are melting my credit card. <_<

I don't want to go to another site (i've looked right at the beginning and the nearest caches were 100 miles away. I don't begrudge £17 pa. I just want to be able to plan my days out, check my cache logs etc without seeing that darned message.

  4. just to let you know that the site seems to be 'malfunctioning' again

  5. I can release coins in England for people - we cache most weekends in Kent. We are also going on holiday around England several times this year. We live on the SE coast so there is an opportunity for them to hope over to France, and we shall be holidaying in Cambridge at the end of April, Devon middle of June and Oxford in October.

Email me at redfrock@hotmail.co.uk if I can be of help

  6. we finally got it late last night & i have filled it in, and like many have already mentioned, opted to leave the income question blank, agreed to micros as don't want them being syphoned off like 'Waymarking' and took the opportunity to state about the server issues.

At least this last question has given us an opportunity to really have our say (and yes maybe they may, and maybe they may not take note) but I have done my bit!!!

(wish I had known about the first bit only of the post code part earlier thought! )

  7. I enjoy finding and releasing both. The only thing is my coins aren't attracting the attention I had hoped  and are just sitting in caches not being moved on. One person did the cache one of my coins was in and didn't take it which I thought was odd, so I emailed them asking if it was in the cache when they found it as I wanted to know it was safe, but they have never replied. So far cache not been found since so still don't know if its there or not

  8. all I know is that I am panicking that soon we shall have run out of local caches - there really aren't that many and there seem to be probably only 4 or 5 (active) cachers locally who hide caches (including ourselves).

So maybe our goal should be to move significantly inland to an area with a much higher cache density than 37 in a 20 mile radius!

  9. I have a question. The device is great and I am looking forward to going somewhere I don’t know next week, but when I am scrolling up or down it occasionally scrolls briefly the other way. Is this normal for the i3, or is mine a little iffy?

I think it's when you are scrolling too fast for it to catch up ... but I might be wrong.

  10. ii) My has a tendency to freeze up every once in a while. It just requires the power cord and batteries taking out and re-starting. Bit annoying when you're in the fast lane of the M3 though!

Have you done the upgrade available from the Garmin site? The freezing was a glitch which they have now created a patch for. I did the upgrade about a fortnight after getting mine and haven't had this problem since.

I am thrilled with mine - I use it for work as lot, but as you say, its a nightmare not being able to put in house names - sometimes I end up driving up and down a road for ages!

Mine was my birthday pressie from hubby several months ago now .... although sometimes I think my birthday was just an excuse for him to buy one!
