  1. Been a couple excellent days in the box. Yesterday: Mauison Christmas--Mahalo! Caching Pills, love the packaging! Today: Gator Nation (of course that one was addressed to sillygirl) jrr
  2. Well we were the high bidder for about a nano-second yesterday, glad to see it's now out of our price range.
  3. I meant to come in here yesterday to congratulate derschlings, but life intervened. So here I am a day late, saying it. Plus today I get to report that sillygirl (there was no &jrr on the envelope!) is now the proud owner of another GENUINE GATOR NATION coin, #52. Mahalo Nui Loa Gator Nation! Will try to post a picture of the coin with the rest of the gator rooting section. jrr
  4. Well this isn't exactly a story (& I didn't writ it), but made me laugh today. Hi, Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best thoughts for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of your choice, and with respect in case you choose to not practice any traditions at all. I also hope you have a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country, nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this greeting is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the greeter or greetee. In closing, Happy day(s) off from work!
  5. Okay, I'm speechless (and let me assure you that is a rare occurrence). Even sillygirl was impressed when I showed her the photo of all those coins. Guess we'll have plenty to enter in next year's contest. We'll be sharing our booty with the rest of the Geohana who helped move the coin along. We reached the winning Tempting the Fates Coin for comment and asked, "You've just won the Fox & the Hounds "Thanksgiving" Coin Contest, what are you going to do now?" "I'm going to Groundspeak HQ of course!" Special Mahalo to Ahuimanu Hui, Geogerms. and captain.ron who seemed to enjoy the contest as much as we did. Congratulations also to all the other entrants, hope you had as much fun as we did. And lastly Mahalo Nui Loa to Fox & the Hound (& Moun10girl & Xander) for your generosity! jrr
  6. Looks like another great coin! We've mostly been good, except when we were being naughty... But as some else already said, at the right time naughty can be nice too. Happy Holidays! jrr
  7. Congrats to Mountainracer and the whole Gator Nation! Wish we could be in the Swamp for opening day next season.
  8. " November 6 by ????? (603 found) Ok, I'm gonna cry foul, it seems that I came to this one unprepared in the respect that those who found it, had tons of help in past logs or lifelines. Since I risked life and limb, almost needing Maui Search and Rescue due to the heavy wave action that day and spending the better part of an hour looking, in the wrong place, wrong description and wrong hints, apparently being over 50 ft off of the real GZ, I am going to claim a pseudo find. Enough crying...the cache took me to a beautiful bay and bouldering hike among lava rock, quite the adventure. It is all bout the journey in this sport right? The destination was beautiful. Thanks for the looking adventure, next time I'm back I'll really make the find." Hadn't come across one this good in a while. At least he admits it's a "pseudo find."
  9. This is tough: 1. We reside in the Land of Colt... 2. sillygirl is a proud member of the Gator Nation ('86). The Gators are the only college football games airing in our house; it's fun to watch the SEC games while eating breakfast... (I was educated entirely at Division 3 schools. Though my undergrad alma mater is probably the only school in the country that charges admission to lacrosse games but not football. Forgive me, I digress.) 3. They've never given it to a sophomore.... So I'll go with -333 (since I trust Mauison's research on what constitutes a close vote). jrr
  10. 1. Participating: Yes 2. Received Name - Yes 3. Mission Complete - sent today finally, hope it makes it across the pond(s) by Christmas. It's a long way from Hawaii to EVERYWHERE. 4. Santa Arrived -
  11. Well the Geo_Leprechaun must have needed some warmth and sun. He stopped by to visit the land of rainbows and aloha. Hope he got to meet some of his cousins (the menehune). We found Pot #101 the other day when we stopped by to check on our newest cache cheers mate and were shocked in a good way, at what we found inside. The Geo_Leprechaun must have been on island time, but he logged his find today; he even fulfilled the additional logging requirement! Looks like there's another pot of gold waiting to be found down here as well. Mahalo nui loa Geo_lep, hope you enjoyed caching in paradise, see you at the other end of the rainbow. jrr
  12. Well fess up D&D, what did you get???????????? Reading about everyone else's packages is the 2nd best part of the missions. jrr

  14. My fifth and final nomination goes to... (and it's not cold at all around here, though it is supposed to rain tonight).
  15. And my fourth nomination goes to....
  16. Post 3 nominates the truly deserving.....
  17. Post 2. and the nomination goes to...
  18. Post number one. Wonder who I will nominate.
  19. While you can not request a specific coin number, if you own a coin and activate you can name it whatever you like, just like a TB. There is a field for the coin name when you activate it; the default is the coin's "generic" name e.g., POW/MIA Coin, that field can be edited. So whatever the coin's number you could name your coin"Tailnumber + Date." That way anyone who looked at the coin's page would see the info. Only those who actually move the coin see its tracking number.
  20. We in Hawaii feel your pain. If you are wanting to buy Groundspeak items, several of the Geocoin retailers also sell Groundspeak products. You can find many of them listed in the pinned topic of the Geocoin forum:here. Some others aren't listed, but Geoswag, & Castle Coins and Pins also stock Groundspeak merchandise. They ship to us via USPS. Good luck!
  21. Here are couple of my favorite photos with JRR's Tempting the Fates Contest Coin: With the "remains" of Kaena Joe. And "Up Close with Stiffey." Current statistics: 6 events visited (in 3 states and 2 countries) 17 discoveries 106,905.3 miles
