  1. Something has an issue. My gpx is not putting the traditional into it. I get an error message but I think it is associated with the macro. I tried deleting the macro and downloading it again and reinstalling it but it didnt make a difference. Any ideas? I am leaving in a few days and would love to get this figured out.

  2. So I did that. It loaded and I did get the treasure chests. However, I am getting an error message and it is ONLY loading unknowns, multi, letter box. I an not getting ANY traditional ones. Any ideas? It says that there is a data format error when trying to load with the POI loader. I deleted the POI loader and reinstalled it, but its still doing it.

    Thanks!

  3. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated. From geocaching.com I send cache sites to my GPS, but when I look in my Favorites or on the gps screen they aren't there.

Try looking under Extras>Custom POIs>All Categories. They might be in there.

  4. Not that I'm happy there are others with this problem, but I'm glad that I'm not the only one. I had them go onto my Nuvi 1300 as favorites, once, and then was told to delete them I didn't need them. When I deleted the favorites, I lost the cache symbol on my map. I have tried everything to get them back. I use GSAK. I have done the file, export, method. I've tried the load waypoints method. I've tried the macro manage method. NOTHING! I have just loaded two towns that I am going to be going to that I wanted to do some caching in, and I have the POIs down, but not the caching symbols so I can see them on the map. I used to have it, why isn't it doing it now. I feel you peoples pain. I'm ready to throw it out the window. Anyone know what the issue is? Please!

  5. If I tell you that I don't know how I loaded the favorites initially, would you believe me :-) I'm fairly new to using this, and don't really know what I'm doing.

I don't own a Nuvi 1300, but on my 765, Custom POI only show on the map at a zoom level of 200', which is not useful for driving. Favorites show when zoomed further out.

You are getting the proximity alert from Custom POI that are still on the 1300.

If you reload the Favorites the way you initially did, then you will see them on the map again.

  6. Hi, I'm fairly new to this. I really like it though. I'm a little frustrated. I listened to a friend of mine who has been doing this for a much longer time, and started deleting the favorites in my gps. Now, by deleting them, my treasure chest icon is no longer on my map. I can't drive down the road and have a box come up so I know there is a cache nearby. Any ideas as to how get them back on my map. I have the caches in my POIs but the favorites I deleted, which was a 12 mile radius from my house, do not show up now. I can still do it through the custom POI, but not just by driving and seeing one is coming up. I guess I've rambled enough. Thanks for any help you can give. I use the Garmin 1300.

  7. I too am using a Nuvi 1300. I like using it. I have no problems except the ones I have created myself. I was told that I had to, or should, remove the favorites and leave just the custom POIs. But, with doing the removal of the favorites, I have deleted the chest icons on my map. Does anyone know how to reinstall them onto my map. I have the information on my POIs, but I can't just drive now and see one coming up. Any ideas? Once you figure out your 1300, you'll like it.

  8. I have GSAK and a macro downloaded, but only the cache sites are doing onto my GPS not the other info to make it so I can go paperless. I still have to copy off the pages from the computer and carry them along so I can know what the hints are and what the logs say. I know there is a way to get that info onto my GPS, but I don't know what it is. I tried the link you provided, but it doesn't list my GPS the Garmin Nuvi 1300. Thanks for any help you can give.

How are you loading the caches to the GPS unit?

That unit does not have the ability to display all of the cache data natively.

You will need to manipulate the data on your computer before sending it to that unit in order to get some of the information to display.

    Here's one method.

You will not be able to get ALL the cache data to display on that GPS unit.

  9. Does anyone use the Nuvi 1450? I am in need of upgrading my turn-by-turn and have been looking but can't decide. I love the 1450 because of the big screen, but will it download the caches into the mapping system. I have been trying to decide between the Nuvi 1300 and the 1450. Has anyone got any suggestions? I'm new at purchasing these and am getting antsy to get started with a gps that will do caching paperless. Thanks!

  10. I have a Nuvi 1300. Yes you can upload Geocache information to this unit.

If you use GSAK and tou can load the cache information as a favorite or you can export all the cache information (GS Number, Name, Description, Hint, Logs etc.) as a POI file. Once loaded into the 1300 you can create a route to a cache just like any other waypoint, and the 1300 will provide turn by turn directions to the cache.

The problem is once you reach the cache site the 1300 does not offer much as far as off road navigation. It does not have a compass type pointer like the hand held (Garmin 60Csx etc). I believe the only Nuvi that offers off road Geocaching mode is the 550.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, that did help. Can you change it to the pedestrian mode after you've reached the location for the off road navigation?
