But there seems to be a small question of RR ROW. And seeing how there is a question of who mite own what and were. Common sense says this mite not be the best place for one. Oh and one more thing. There can be a very good reason for a public park not to have a cache. Who ever is running them has said no geocachs.

Well I have stated this before. By applying two commons, common sense and common courtesy. The intent of guidelines takes care of them self's nicely. Common sense says that there is no place that has to have cache. And out of common courtesy to property owners and to the geocache community. If there is even a small question of possible trespassing then its not the best place to hide one. I know if the commons were truly common every one would use them. But that's another topic.

I am all for the above test but it should be applied right across the the board. Just set a date. And from that time forward before you can set any caches. Or any more caches you need to take the test. No matter how long you have been playing or how many finds you have.

I think you just nailed it. And easy to find page on getting familiar with you GPSr no matter what your using would do wonders. As it is the info GS has could be a lot better laid out and easier to find.

I am getting a big chuckle out of the old timers who think hiding is some how rocket science. All it takes is a little research and some time playing with what ever GPSr your using. Its just common sense. I placed my first cache after only 7 finds. My cache count is 6 now and so far no complaints. And the world did not come to and end.

Yes after reading the log and notes makes me wonder if the term reasonable adults is and oxymoron.

What mess could the Chirp possibly leave? Your GPS either works with it, or it doesn't. No mess. It's not an evolving thing. It is what it was built to be. The only thing that might change is others adapting to it, which appears to be happening with the iPhone trying to make a compatibility app already from what I hear. Time will tell, but my Chirp cache isn't going anywhere. And neither is my Chirp TB. Forcing GS to mad scramble to fit them in some how wasn't a bit messy. If they were serous about them for long term. They would have given GS a heads up. And at this point there so new that we have no idea how well or how long they will hold up in the field. My hats off to you as a first adopter some one has to test them in the field. But with Garmins track record of limited support over time. I am not going to rush out and up grade. If a iPhone app happens tomorrow chirp 2.0 will come out needing a new Garmin upgrade. So a cheap iPhone app mite not be a good thing. And you still need a Garmin to program them something a phone app is not going to do. Garmin is out to make money for its self not others. That's why there in business in the first place. At 20 bucks a pop most likely there not making that much on a chirp. Limited production run for a limited market. The real money will be made on the hope that folks will rush out and buy the latest and greatest GPS. To use them and to find them. If that doesn't happen or it takes to long to happen they will drop them. As I see it the chirp will more likely leave folks holding the bag then panning out .

Another thing to consider is Garmin is well know for today's latest and greatest is tomorrows abandon child. If they were serous about the chirp why did they blind side Groundspeak? If they don't sell enough of them in what they think is reasonable time frame. They will drop them like a hot rock. Leaving a mess before it reaches critical mass .

I had a cache that was in a naturally made hole in the ground at the base of a down tree. Over the years dirt washed into the hole around the ammo box creating a perfectly square hole for the ammo box. The casual observer may well have thought that the hole was dug for the ammo box, but that wasn't the case. So it's not impossible. I made it a point to mention on the cache page that the hole was naturally occurring so nobody got the wrong idea. I think NYPaddlecacher said it best in post 5. You need to understand the reason for the guideline in order to correctly interpret it. The guideline specifically says "Shovel, trowel or pointy object", but if you excavate the hole with a power washer, or dig deep into soft duff with your hands, you are still digging and violating the intent of the guideline if not the letter. The guidelines are there for a reason , which is for the most part to discourage practices that land managers and other authorities may find objectionable. To pick them apart looking for loopholes is not beneficial for our sport. So C4 is out of the question? Just kidding but seriously its not rocket science. I don't have one. I know it can very from phone to phone . But how much of the cache page are you getting? All of it or part of it? The reason for asking is I am seeing some things in my logs. That some phone users don't seem to be getting all the details such as parking nothing major but could be a pita if you don't have. If I knew what part I could put the more important details there.

Here's something just a little off the wall. How about asking the CO to lone you the uses of some there caches for a event. The caches stay right were there at with the same owner. You can set up a muilt by adding a event log with any info needed with the owners log . After the event you go back and pull the logs. You can create a cache page with the starting point. And a thank you note to the owner for there uses.

My best guess is you just sit back and admire them. So far they have only been good for starting mind numbing tail chasing augments and whine fests .

To the OP as what to do with them. The only thing that I can think of is sit back and admire them. Now I could be wrong I believe they are and off shoot of the gifting fad you find on social networking sites like Face Book.

Read this entire thread then take a trip to the ET highway and try it for yourself (even for a couple of hours) then come back and tell us what you found. Several people have confirmed that it's possible for any team that has sufficient stamina. Just because Guinness doesn't have it in their book doesn't mean it's not a record. Maybe you should reread my post nowhere did I say it couldn't be done. And I ask again whose record did they break ? When you make and extraordinary claim you need to provide extraordinary proof.

The 1157 caches in 24 hours, I assume? Yippee, we're back on topic!! A new World Record? I love this subject! So.... in order to attain that many caches in 24 hours.... that would be one cache in less than a minute. I see many groups doing 1021 in 12 hours....so it must be easy peasy. Be careful what you wish for you mite just get it And on that note extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Do you have documented proof from and out side source that you did in fact set a new record ? You made the claim so it falls to you to provide the proof. We shouldn't have to check the logs. So until you can its just a claim is it not? As it stand now GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS doesn't even have a listing for geocaching. So whose world record are you claiming to have broken?
