  1. Just a quick heads up on one in my area: http://coord.info/GCJQMH Just did some maintenance on this one today (see log). I emailed the owner with the updates, but they have not been to the site since '07. I'll wait patiently for an email back from them, but, if an admin has a moment to take a look and fire a quick message as well, it may be helpful! I'll rescue/adopt if need be. Thanks!
  2. Sold! She has a new home in MI. Thanks for the interest.
  3. New-in-box SPOT Satellite Messenger - Track your location via Google maps nearly anywhere in the world - Email updates and requests for help to friends and family - Contact SAR with your coordinates All in one handy little package! I picked this up two weeks ago and have another expense come up. This unit is NEW and UNACTIVATED. I put the batteries in the unit to ensure it was not DOA (it isn't). Comes with all paperwork and original box. Pictures if needed. $110 shipped - insurance extra More info here: http://www.findmespot.com/en/
  4. We found ours at a very reasonable price off of Craigslist. If they have a CL in your area, you might try there. We'd pass ours along, but it still has a passenger!
  5. Up for sale: OEM Garmin neoprene case that fits the C models of the eTrex line. Received one of these as a gift. Already have a preferred case. It is new, but will not ship in the bubble package to shave off some shipping cost! $12 shipped
  6. Time to pass along our beginner unit! eTrex Legend with AccuCase - We've had it for a couple of years, but it is in new condition. There are no dings, scuff, or scratches (I'm very picky about my gear). The AccuCase is the best I have seen for the unit. It's a hard-foam case with a handy "holster" pocket inside. Includes the serial cable, wrist strap and possibly the manual (I need to find it in my "manuals" file). Excellent way to get your feet wet with a solid, well-supported unit. I will update it to the latest firmware before I send it out. $90 shipped
  7. Thanks for the replies folks! We really don't have a need for the auto-routing feature, yet. If we go that way in the future, I'll probably get a car-specific unit. Looks like I'm thinking along the right lines. I have been very happy with this Legend, so another eTrex sounds like the thing!
  8. On the advice of many people, we picked up a Legend for our first Geocaching GPS. It has been a good unit. It has helped us find the few caches we have found. But, it also has gotten a ton of use hiking/biking/hunting. Now we're getting back towards Geocaching more and would like a unit with better reception. The tree cover here really challenges the Legend. We'd like to stick with Garmin - we own Mapsource. What's another model that's a good step up? We're looking at around the $200 mark (still kind of cheap). The Summit HC looks inviting. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  9. Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I have found a couple of more items which really help this topic out. First, the Garmin case I linked to above (the holster, not the neoprene) is a horrible fit. The eTrex is very tight in it and the velcro for the flap just barely catches. Not well designed in my mind at all. However, after a lot of looking around, I found these: http://www.accucase.com/gps.html I picked one up this morning from REI. It is perfect. Rigid, light and well-made (it is produced by the same company who does all the molded components on police belts). Best part, it fits my Legend like a glove and has an internal strap to help secure it. It was well worth the $20!
  10. Legend! It is COMPLETELY worth the extra $20-40 for mapping capabilities. Check Amazon for a period of time. Their prices fluctuate. However, if you are patient you can score a new Legend for around $120 with free shipping. I know I did.
  11. Ahhh, CAD My bad. You hadn't specified that you were a dweller of the Great White North.
  12. I'd be interested in the coupon if you don't mind. My brother is looking for a Legend C this week. barnhartten at yahoo dot com
  13. Ohh, good one. Didn't even think about work-related cell/radio holsters. I'll swing by one fo those joints today and see what I can turn up. Here is one I hadn't seen before that seems to fit my bill perfectly: http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/reviews/465029494
  14. I've tried this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004VX3...5Fencoding=UTF8 I wasn't impressed with the way the plastic over the screen created some nasty glare. Now, for screen protection, I'm using sheets that I use on my Palm also. I'm looking for a good case that my eTrex Legend can slip in and out of. I looked at the NiteIze offerings, but am not impressed with the plastic belt clip. Anyone have an experience with these? Mainly looking for well-made, good clip and/or attachment system for shoulder strap. Any good recommendations? Thanks in advance!
  15. He is going to be mostly in Brazil, with some travel into Peru (I believe). I don't know if WorldMap actually offers anything more than what comes on the Legend... this is from Garmin's site about the Americas basemap which is on the Legend: And this is what WorldMap offers: It seems the difference is slight, if any. I guess I would really like to confirm if there was any real difference (as in, if someone has seen both) before I drop $100+ on WorldMap. Thanks for the help, though! We really appreciate it.
  16. My older brother is heading out to South America in a month or so and is looking for a GPS to accompany him on his journey. He would like one that has more extensive maps, but we don't know is this is available. I have an eTrex Legend and it does have the basemap for the America's on it. However, I didn't run across any additional maps for my MapSource for South America. Am I just not finding them? Is there another GPS/software which has better maps than the basemap for South America? Thanks in advance!
  17. Perhaps list the teams and the associated names on the back of each tag... just to avoid any non-player getting confused (and to give us some credit)?
  18. I think something of this nature would be great, especially if we included the date. That way, once the game is over the TB can travel around and garner more interest in these kind of games. Kind of like a not-so-collectable trading card.
  19. I (we) am (are) Denver area. No spare TB's here.
  20. Sounds like this might need to be something addressed in the rules. I have a few "agents" in CS that I might need to bring out of hiding for this one.

    Tb Protocol

I retrived a TB recently. When I visited its page, the last people had not yet indicated that they had dropped it off. I sent them an email, no response yet. I want to move the TB on its way. How long should I wait until I snatch the TB from the previous holders, log it in the cache I found it in, and then log it in the new cache? I don't want the owner thinking his/her/it's TB is hung-up someplace. Thanks!
