Why Do People Hate Micros
Justin Of Terrytown replied to EliteJonathan81's topic in General geocaching topics
I might be in the minority, but I don't mind micros and nano's, especially if it brings me to an interesting area and/or if it is hidden in a creative way. In Houma, LA, I found a micro that was hidden in a way that made me laugh for some reason (it was not a Geocache that was part of the Houma GeoTour). -

You might also want to go to Facebook and look up Carnival Miracle Jan 13-27 to find a Facebook page/group to join. -
The Etrek 20x was only a few months old at the time so I was still getting the hang at it.

My Geocaching App did not worked when I was on my cruise in 2016. So for my cruise in April 2017, I downloaded a bunch of Geocaching on to my GPS (etrek 20x) and used that. When I found a Geocache, I would text message my mom that "I found (insert Geocache's name here)". When I got back onto the cruise ship, I went through my text messages and while on the cruise ship's computer and marked which ones I found.

What schwag do you leave?
Justin Of Terrytown replied to dicentra's topic in General geocaching topics
I do leave toys (marbles, toy soldiers, est.) for the children. Another thing I leave is "local" stuff (example: poker chips from the Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club, doubloons from different Mardi Gras Krewes, golf balls from the National World War 2 Museum, est.). I also leave trackables on occasions. -
Throw downs - Venting...

I never understand why somebody would intentionally break the rules. I always try my best to follow the rules (to my knowledge, I never broke the rules, but if I did, it was unintentional). -
Animal Encounters?
Justin Of Terrytown replied to ieatmousetraps's topic in General geocaching topics
Milk snake? I think it is a corn snake. I used to own two corn snakes myself (one died and I donated the albino corn snake to my high school science teacher). -
Newbie cachers hiding caches.
Justin Of Terrytown replied to Scaber's topic in General geocaching topics
One rule I set for myself (base on comments other Geocachers have made) is that I would not hide a Geocache until I found at least 100 Geocaches. -
To me, a DNF means I tried my best to find it but I could not find it. There have been occasions when I marked a Geocache has DNF, went and looked again a few days later (before the owner checked on it) and found it on the second try. One of the Geocaches, I looked for it four times and found it on my fourth try (the owner of the Geocache was happy that I never gave up and finally found it).

I ordered the Trackable Event Cache Name Tag. What is the best type of pen to use to write my name on it?

I went on a five days cruise last week (Carnival Triumph: Carnival Cruise Line) out of New Orleans. I found four Geocaches in Mexico (three in Cozumel and one in Progresso).

I am going on a five day cruise out of New Orleans (Carnival Triumph: April 24, 2017 to April 29, 2017). I am bringing my GPS so I can do some Geocaching while in port (Mexico: Cozumel and Progreso). Will my GPS be okay if I put it with my luggage or should I bring it with me with my carry on? I just want to double check that the security do not have any machines that will damage it (I heard back in the day, the x-ray machines at the airport could damage film that you use in cameras).

Find more Geocaches than what I found in 2016. Attend more events. I am going on a cruise (Carnival Triumph: April 24 out of New Orleans). On the cruise, I am stopping twice in Mexico (Cozumel and Progressive) so one of my goals is to do some Geocaching in Mexico.

Do a forumsearch for "communicator plugin" and read the 100's of threads about this (and solutions). http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=334137&st=0&p=5553453&fromsearch=1entry5553453 This is the thread that helped me out when I had a similar problem.

I never been stop by the police yet. But I ordered the Geocaching Trail Cards and I always keep a few of them on me. If I do ever get stop by the police while Geocaching, it will help me explain what I am doing. I have a speech impediment, so if the police ever stop me while I am Geocaching, it will just make it easier for me and the police officer if I have something that explains what Geocaching is.

I am trying to enter travel bugs that I bought and when I try to activate them, I keep on getting the message "The activation code is a unique code located on the packaging for each Trackable. When activated, the Trackable will be assigned to your user account. This way you can modify its own personal page.". I know I am entering the right activation code. So what can be the problem? I bought several travel bugs. I tried to activate three different travel bugs and each time, I get the same message.

The one thing that helped me get into Geocaching is going to YouTube and watching different Geocaching videos. Geocaching official videos

My Renewal Date for the Premium membership is due on December 25, 2016. If I pay to renew my premium membership early, that premium membership end on December 26, 2016 or will it end on the day that I paid for it?

Last Saturday, I found a Geocache that was part of the Houma GeoTour and the only thing it had in it was the log, the special stickers for the cache, a log, and a cell phone that look like it was run over by a tank. So I took the old cell phone out and left a bunch of SWAG in it. I found it on Saturday and somebody else found it on Sunday. So whoever found it on Sunday, I hope they enjoyed the SWAG I left in the Geocache. For the newbies, SWAG meands ""Stuff We All Get." Trade items left in caches by geocachers.".

For anybody new to Geocaching, this video, Geocaching Etiquette, explains some of the etiquette of Geocaching, including trading.

My mother (debsjag) and I are planning on trying to do the Houma Travel GeoTour. My mom uses the Etrek 10 and I use the Etrek 20x. What is the best way to download the Geocaches to our GPS's? Is there anyway I can do it besides one at a time? I tried clicking on the "Download this GeoTour" but no luck. Also, when we are done, what is the best way to delete all of those geocaches from our GPS's?

There is a cache at the entrance sign. I went there today (I did not go inside so I kept my clothes on) and found it.
