  1. Well now I am at the point of frustration. I have downloaded the communciator plug in. It still seems that the computer is not recognizing the GPS device. I have read through many of the threads and have the garmin usb cable as my usb. I even tried a few others I had handy

I spoke to the Garmin help desk but seems what he was trying to get me to do it would not do. Just rebooting it and trying to go to the mass storage. I just don't have mass storage as an option. The guy basically told me too bad he could not help me further. It just seems odd that this model is designed to work link on the computer but I can't get it to get recognized. I feel there is something I am missing.

If it were a total bomb and I had to go out and get another GPS I could do that but I wouldn't want to get into the same issue. So really want to make sure Mac is not my issue, I tried my husbands PC and no dice.

  2. You mention that you have been away from geocaching for a while....

If this is true, your Mac computer needs the newest Garmin Communicator plug-in. It seems the older version is not functioning well.

While I don't know if that is the problem, it has been much discussed in these forums as of late. Just search "Mac" and you'll see.

I have gone into a lot of the discussions and did get the update on garmin communicator there and have installed - it just seems to not be getting me anywhere argh......

  3. This device has two USB modes. I don't know which one you need for what you're trying to do.

The default mode requires special drivers.

The second mode is mass storage, where it appears to the computer as a USB hard drive or USB flash drive.

To select this mode, go to the main menu and select:

Setup -> Interface -> USB Mass Storage

I went into the set up and it did not give me any options for interface or any usb modes. I will still keep trying......

  4. I have a Garmin eTrex Legend CX and want to be able to connect it to my computer but seem to have problems. I am pretty good on the computer and this one has me stumped and with a head ache. I have looked and searched online for issues but can't seem to find a resource. I have had the gps for a couple of years and shamefully not used it and have recently gotten back into geocaching and want to add my pocket queries and learn the simpler way to cache. I am working too hard the old way.

When I connect to the computer I am not getting it to show up as a connected device which is so odd to me. However I know it is getting the power from the computer because the GPS does light up when connected.

I have tried multiple garmin tricks turn off turn on downloaded garmin updater changed usb ports ... etc

But.....I am missing something ...... or........is it not compatible with the iMac? I have tried on my husband pc but to no avail either.

Does anyone have words of wisdom that will make the lightbulb go off for me.

    Scratching my head......
