  1. Just got this email from TopoGraphix:

A new beta version of ExpertGPS is available with preliminary support

for Garmin's new USB receivers. ExpertGPS 1.3.6b1 adds the ability to

transfer waypoints, routes, and tracks to and from the Garmin 60C, 60CS,

    2610, and 2650 over high-speed USB.

If you own one of these new GPS receivers and would like to help test

USB support in ExpertGPS, visit http://www.expertgps.com/beta.asp to

download the new software. Please realize that this software is unproven,

and could damage your GPS or cause the loss of data. Do not install

this software unless you have backed up your GPS in MapSource and are

willing to risk damaging your GPS.

ExpertGPS 1.3.6b1 has been tested with a Garmin 60CS and StreetPilot

    2610 on Windows XP, 2000, and 98.

To report a problem with this beta software, send an email with a full

description and the ExpertGPS_Message_Log.txt file to

    beta2004@expertgps.com.

Thank you for helping to test and improve ExpertGPS.

  2. From this thread:

I went ahead and upgrade the firmware to 3.10 as soon as I received

my 60CS, so I'm sure that is new firmware bug or my unit having some

    problem.

The unit would lock up every time I do a Reset in "Altimeter" Page,

I have to either remove the battery or press the power button

several times to shut it off, but I can Reset the unit without any

problem in "Trip Computer" Page (that would also reset the Altimeter

    data). Does anyone experience it?

  3. I turned my Vista on today and the left side (about 1/3 of width) from top to bottom is not getting drawn. Anyone else have this problem? The Vista is about 2 years old. I wonder if Garmin can fix this and for how much? At least I have my 60CS also now! <_<

    Thanks,

    Thor

  4. I just fired off a message to tech support basically telling them the same thing.

( Garmin Tech Support Form )

Couldn't hurt for you to contact them too. I think their "happens to a small number of units" line is wishfull thinking!

(although thinking about it, maybe it's related to what elevation you're at. I'm at 2400 ft, what about you?)

  5. I haven't installed any maps yet. Just the basemap it comes with.

I was playing with it some more and noticed it only does it if you hit left or right before it draws the elevation profile. It takes a small moment before it displays it and if you hit left or right before then.. poof!

I suspect that's why they say if you don't have a track yet it happens.. because it never displays the profile. But even if you have a track and are able to hit the arrows before it draws the profile, you can kill it.

  6. I got my 60CS today and sure enough, it does the same thing. Garmin says it doesn't do it after you've saved a track? I walked around the neighborhood and saved the track. It still does it. It will power off if I hit left or right arrow the first time going into the Altimiter page after being on another page. Doesn't do it hitting up or down. And once you've hit up or down, you can hit left and right all you want and no power down.
