  1. Is that the Marianass trench?? I'd sure hate to see the tsunami that results when that fault slips...
  2. The paint is claimed to contain a "copper and aluminum fibered compound" (whatever that means) so basically you are painting your walls with metal. I wonder, though, how well it really works. In my limited experience with Faraday cages, unless you can construct a true Faraday cage (including shielding and electro-magnet gaskets on all doors/windows) the results may be considerably less than desired (e.g. nothing) or worse, in some circumstances, you may be worse off than if you had done nothing at all... (as in the report referenced by Snake&Rooster). I suspect it's all a plot by the NSA to have you paint a big RF reflector on your walls in order to assist them monitoring you as you netsurf to sites like "Caches Gone Wild!" and "Wet, Wild and Naked GPSrs"
  3. Two cents? Surely you had more change than that? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
  4. That does suck. Sorry to hear it. I hope your luck turns upward soon...
  5. Ooouch! A bruised avatar can be really painful...they tend not to heal very quickly. Somehow, I doubt we are going to see this one as a banner on the geocaching home page.
  6. There are. I was there for Christmas and bagged quite a few. I don't know what the first one in the state is/was, though. Good Luck on your quest!
  7. There's your problem right there I knew I'd get this. Like it or not though, IE is here to stay and it works best for my home banking, so it stays. Really I'm just wondering if anyone else besides me is having the problem. There was a thread that started around Christmas time under "Geocaching.com Web Site" that sounds remarkably similar to what you are describing. The thread ends on Dec 28th without any resolution.
  8. Oh thanks! That's another image I didn't need... (Where's the kilt? )
  9. I can see it now...a new cache type: Unfortunate Event Cache (there could be a whole series...) The icon could be a crossed pair of crutches.
  10. unBlocked Passage Cache and Shop should be wheelchair accessible. There's also Sit Awhile with Sam across the parking lot. It's a virtual, but if you are in the area for one, then you might as well get the other. There must be others. If I think of any, I'll post them.
  11. When I saw this cache get published and I read the warning, my first thought was "There seems to be a loophole. It doesn't say anything about staying away during a rain storm." But I stayed away anyway. I concluded that a loophole was probably not a good place to be during a rainstorm. I may be insane, but I'm not crazy.
  12. OK, here's one... It is, of course, one of many critters you'll see if you take Flibertigibbet's Wild Adventure (GC3DBD). The second picture was taken at the same place and on the same day, but it is just one of the natives passing through...
  13. Better to be leading a kilted cowboy up a drain pipe than to be following one... (Ooops, now that was an image I didn't need... )
  14. Here's one from Christmas morning -- reindeer! (Yeah, I know, but my 3-year old nephew says that they are reindeer and, thus, they are reindeer... )
  15. A long and slippery slope... 1) Three years ago, a coworker went out to the desert with some friends and was introduced to the sport. He mentioned it to me. 2) Two years ago, a cousin and family (The Wandering Posts) stayed with us on their vacation.. While they were here, they found several caches including the one at the top of the hill that I live on (Glick's Eternal View). This was my first cache. 3) 11months ago, a friend came back from Kentucky after being introduced to the sport. 4) 10 months ago, I quit my job. With more free time on my hands, I felt I had time for a new hobby. (Little did I realize how time consuming this hobby would become...)
  16. Wow! not guilty. We left the container just as found at the very base of the tree covered by three really obvious river stones. No Muggles in sight either. Maybe the other team had a little cocktail at lunch and, by the way, they didn't log a joke so they are already under suspicion. We were there at about one-ish I think. Hmmm... Mystery solved?
  17. Consider this. A cacher starts a perfectly normal day. He inadvertantly takes a ring that belongs to a cursed Pirate (Gipionysius and the Pirates). Later that day, he loses his IPAQ and all the details of his life with it. He becomes a mere shadow of his former self. The following day, he returns the ring. His IPAQ, along his life, are returned to normal. Was this coincidence.....? Or did he cross over into... ...The Twilight Zone!!! Doot-doo-doot-doo-doot-doo-doot-doo...
  18. Not very diplomatic, admittedly, but just to play devil's advocate, if I had taken the trouble to go out to an event and, apparently, no one had shown up, I probably would have been pretty miffed myself. (Hopefully, though, I would manage to not express my ill-feelings publically.)
  19. Saw that last night. Things were really getting rolling at 6 and as you say, it was never quiet there (at least by my definition...) We were relatively close to the front door and we had a WJTB parked on our table. Guess he didn't see that either. It does make me wonder if he went to the wrong place. There is another Blarney Stone on 5th Ave. Maybe he went there? I sent him an e-mail saying that we were sorry that he missed us and expressing surprise that he didn't see us... I haven't, as yet, gotten a reply.
  20. That's no joke. We were looking for a cache in a field of rocks with no luck. Finally, we broke out the hint -- which read "east of bird poop rock". Do you want to guess how many rocks DIDN'T have bird poop? (Hint -- it's a small number) (Too be fair, though, this hint did ultimately turn out to be useful...)
  21. Meep! meep! ('cept, I don't remember there being so much light...) O please, that's Photoshop light. Photoshop Lite? Is that the cheap version? The important thing is not when you've done it. It's that you've done it! (Congrats!)
  22. Meep! meep! ('cept, I don't remember there being so much light...)
  23. No snow here in New Mexico! We're going to have to make a dirtman! (It was amusing finding GoBolts! footballs as we cached our way across Arizona... ) Merry Christmas
