  1. Oh you know me...I can never think of anything to say...
  2. Would you settle for sax and violins and oud cacaphony?
  3. Hmmm...my Grandad had a hat like that...
  4. A couple of Cache Critters seen while hiking up and caching on Iron Mountain today. Scrub Jay Western Fence Lizard
  5. Honk! That's McSweeny Farms! I'd know it anywhere...
  6. Might as well jump in, though it probably wont' do any good... I had four PQ's set to run today. 1 ran almost instantly and I have the results. The other three have not run yet (despite the passage of time...) All four PQs have run before (a week ago). Unfortunately, the one I need the most for today is one of the one's that has not run.
  7. Interesting how close the above image is to this one from Santa Ysabel OSP...
  8. Soooo...Barrie... What's your story...???
  9. It's hard to get more renowned than Ogden Nash... The one-L lama, He's a priest. The two-L llama, He's a beast. And I would bet A silk pajama There isn't any Three-L lllama.
  10. Why I oughta... I guess I can't deny it since that's me on the left hand camel. But I was really hoping that the penguin odor would cover it up... As long as you are listing camel types: Camelops (a North American camel now extinct) Syrian Camel (also extinct) Frontrian Camel (that's a Bactrian Camel from a different perspective) Guanaco? Isn't that a brand of gasoline?
  11. This just in... Geyser erupts in Penasquitos Canyon. No caches are believed to be lost but PQGeoTrekkers geomobile was nearly drowned. PQGT denies any responsibility for the incident.
  12. By the way, the actual hide for Mickey Mints is probably not a good spot for monkeys...
  13. Don't know about the closer trailhead, but the "road" is not supposed to be driven upon. But since the statute of limitations has long passed, I can now safely admit having taken the Blue October on that one once or twice. The caches in ABDSP have only been archived as SBA logs are placed on the cache pages by the Rangers, so looking for caches out there may or may not yield a find. The Rangers did remove quite a few a couple years back, but not all of them, but there may be ones that were removed and just haven't been archived. I wouldn't worry about the karma -- but you may not find what you are looking for. I would not recommend replacing the Powder Can Cache with a container -- neither the Pinko Commie nor the Green Alien is likely to approve it. But the area is really cool out there!! So have a blast, and I think the monkeys will enjoy it also, as long as you get to it before it gets unbearably hot... All things considered, I personally would prefer that people not drive back there. There are sites of historical interest (in proximity to the railroad camp) as well as archeological sites as well that have been damaged by vehicles. It's better to keep that area to foot traffic. The hike in from the recommended parking is not that bad. I've hiked there solo without worrying that I was by myself in the middle of the desert. Take water and sun protection and enjoy the hike. There is vegetation with sharp pointy bits, though, so do council the monkeys about the wisdom of watching where they put their feets. And there are creatures of the Crotalus persuasion so council the monkeys about the wisdom of not putting their hands into places that they can't see with their eyes. I too have been surprised that Mickey Mints survived when other caches were archived. I always figured it was still there because the rangers assumed that no one would be crazy enough to hide it where it is hidden and thus they never found it.
  14. HONK! Clueless!Clueless as well but if I had to guess I would say on South flank of Mt Woodson looking at Iron Mt area. Ahh, Fisnjack, methinks you are not as clueless as you let on. Clearly, you were able to assimilate your knowledge of the area into a pretty darn good guess. For the record, it's on the east flank of Woodson looking south at the Iron Mountain area.
  15. I was on the Warren Trail this afternoon. There was a lot of grass that's grown up along side (and on the trail since hardly anyone uses this trail.) I was a bit concerned about the possibility of surprising a snake in the grass since the cammo used by our friends of the Crotalus persuasion is phenomenal for hiding in the grass (at least when the grass is brown...) It turns out that I was right to be wary. Here's a four foot long Crotalus ruber. Not the best photo but I didn't have much opportunity to make adjustments to the camera before it disappeared completely. (This was near RS-Little Bit of Shade - GC1N7RT).
  16. Careful there...you're gonna fry poor ol' Harmon's circuits talkin' like that...
  17. Hooray! Now you don't have to use two PQs to get all the caches for a 24 hour power trail record attempt! Gosh, did I miss a record attempt? Yep! I was going for a new record of 780 caches found in a 24 hour period. It was close but I didn't quite make it. I was 769 caches short of the mark. I probably shouldn't have slept in...
  18. Hooray! Now you don't have to use two PQs to get all the caches for a 24 hour power trail record attempt!
  19. Traffic jams. Three businesses evacuated and closed for hours. Amazing how a small bottle can have such large economic impact...
  20. Look up this Book Mark List: San Diego Consensus Favorites This is a list of caches that have shown up on at least three individual cacher's favorites list. Everyone of these caches are gold nuggets. Also, go look up The Forbidden Forest (GCME1Z). This cache is on almost everyone's favorites list. Which means that there are 26 (as of last count) favorites lists on this cache page.
  21. And here is Snake #2, a Southern Pacific Diamondback that was lying in the trail heading toward Home Sweet Home (GC22DQ8)
