  1. This is a great cache, that I found expecialy hard, but not really because of hte terrain though. I had trouble with the questions... Make sure you study up real good for this one or have someone sitting at a computer to look stuff up while you're in the field. Great Cache though, I had to make a few trips since I had no life-line
  2. Might want to post this in the Garage Sale forum.
  3. Now dont take my post as a complete bash to the Vista/Legend and other eTrex line. They are all great GPSs that will serve many people perfectly, however... He specificaly asked about performanve in cover. Now, I know from first hand experience that the Vista/Legend etc is NOT the GPS you want if you will be under cover. In response to "it's a Vista not a legend, it has more features" etc, this makes no difference to performage under cover, which is what my post was all about. Hope this helps

  5. Advanced GPS has them for $409, at least that's what I paid. And only $5 shipping for Fed Ex Saver (3 days for me). I avoid ebay for large purchases like this.
  6. Well, I had the Legend... which is very similar just a few less features, and well. The coverage blows... Yes I know I heard it all before I got it and I didn't think it would be that bad but it really does. I finally got sick of it (only 3 months), and got a V. I was going to do some comparisons in the field but after taking my V to an area that the eTrex had trouble in, I realized this wasn't necicary. The V worked flawlessly, excelent coverage and accuracy. Dont make the mistake I did, get the MAP 76 or the V with the Quad Helix antenna. OR you can by my Legend for $180 and learn the same way I did.

  8. I haven't had this problem with my V, I was using an eTrex before though.
  9. OK how does $175, you pay shipping sound? I'll probably put it on eBay next friday if there is not anymore intrest here. My GPS V arrived yesterday and I now see no need to keep the Legend. I can take pictures of the unit if anyone wants me to?
  10. Mine just arrived yesterday from advancedgps.com I've now ordered 2 diferent GPRrs from them, and I havn't been disapointd. They have good prices too.
  11. I'm one of those who like to use Magnetic, and for the very reason EraSeek mentions. I liek to look at the bearing on my gps then site with my compass without thinking about it (because hey why should I have to think about it?) Even though the difference is only 7 degrees here where I live.

  13. Well, I wish someone would take my offer then! I'll probably be putting it on ebay soon if I dont get any offers.
  14. Man that log cache looks really cool.
  15. This has me wondering who the "Finding King" is. Who has the most?

  17. I dont think it's for kids at all, I think the kids just end up tagging along. how many kids do you see asking for a GPS for their birthday? (well I dont really know that they dont, I'm only assuming).
  18. Who said it had to be about the size of a battery? What about this one? http://www.linemaster.com.au/quad_helix_antenna.htm Maybe there is 2 small ones side by side? (Yes I'm streching it here)

  20. It looks more like he didn't really answer your question to me However, the way it is oriented really isn't the question. The question is how must you hold it. The answer apears to be Vertical, not on it's side.

  22. I couldn't agree more, lets get it together! Are all the other opentopic sites this bad?
  23. I just ordered a new GPS-V and I'll be looking to sell my eTrex Legend in about a week. I've only had it for almost 3 months now and after logging about 12 caches it still works like new. I'm asking $190 (including shipping), but if that seems like to much make an offer. As a bonus, I can load up the metroguide data for your area if you like. I've purchased the metroguide cd's but I'll be keeping those for use with mt new GPS V. I have everything that came with it, including the box, manual, cable. Email me at JBJones@carolina.rr.com if you have any questions.
  24. We should write Garmin and Megellan too, get them to rally behind us. I should supect they have an interest in the future of geocaching.
