  1. We were supposed to meet a friend. She called on the cell, but neither of us could understand the other. It turns out we were about 30' apart yelling, "What?" "What?" and we never did hook up.
  2. Hee hee. I think it caps out at $10, plus pain and suffering. But I wouldn't plagiarize that literally. You're going to have to work a little harder.
  3. I've posted a new cache today, but I'll be posting another in the same area tomorrow (or very soon-ish). So if you just can't resist, you may want to try and hold out for the second to appear. It is inspired by, well, downright plagiarized from, a cache by Seth! (with permission). Neither cache is available on the 4th, so why don't you join me at the Waterfront Blues Festival?!
  4. Thursday nights are work nights (sometimes) and weekends are bad when it's nice out. Any other day is fine by me.

Out of the last three responses, one of you got one thing right. I should've made this cache clues!

The mystery item made me wonder if it belonged to a Geocacher. I think I may have to make a cache out of these items if I don't find the owner . . .

If they have a contact list you can start calling and emailing Yeah, I thought of that, but it's not a Palm/Handspring and I can't find any similar feature. I looked at the address book and it seems to be filled with mainly business names, so contacting them probably wouldn't work. I may call some individuals -- mainly in the Eugene area. As for all of you unlucky guessers -- no one has even hit one item correctly!

    Found goods

I was Geocaching today and found some things in the brush that don't seem to be trash-out material. I found a camera, electronic organizer, and mystery object, all in a bag with a shoulder strap. They were all pretty damp, but the organizer works and the camera's flash and winder work. If you lost a pack like this just off-trail in the Terwilliger Blvd. area (a.k.a. There-ain't-no-sat-lock-in-this-area) please let me know. If you can identify the camera make, organizer make, pack color, mystery item, OR any three out of four, plus throw in a good location for my next cache, they're yours. I won't even tell you about the huge slug that was trying to eat the pack.
  11. Jenny will not be able to make it, but Bodoni will. I'm also inviting a workmate or two, but will post again if I get confirmation(s). Thanks for the organizational expertise soup!
  12. You can use one of the many on-line coordinate translation tools, or the one linked to from the Geocaching site. The problem is that you need to convert degree decimal into minute decimal. Here's the result, and the coordinates you need to be able to post it: N 20°55.178999 W 100°43.8708 I sure hope I got that right (or somebody will let me know, I'm so sure). I don't remember how many decimals the site will take, so you might need to round the decimals up to something like 55.179, etc. Good luck!

This is _NOT_ a good sign!!! -fractal Did you just zip it? I just downloaded it and it's a zip file -- a little smaller -- and that should cure the problem with browsers trying to open it automatically. Good solution. Unfortunately -- I have it -- but I don't know what to do with it! I have some ideas alright . . .

  16. Great -- now I'm going to have to change my avatar again!
  17. And so here I am thinking to myself,"I know it's nearby, but where the heck is the Portland City Grill anyway?" Lunchtime comes around and I head out to get a salad from some buffet place that we call Salad World 2002, but has a real un-buffet-like name such as Paragon, and lo and behold, I'm approximately 29 floors under my night-life destination! I must've been there 10 times and never noticed the posters telling me to go upstairs for "the best view in Portland". I must've been too busy looking around for hidden urban caches

  19. Since it's so close to work, I'll just have to go. I'll be there by about 5:30.

quote:Originally posted by Seth!: I happen to know that there are several geocaches within walking distance of my house. You ain't kidding! I might've been able to cover the locals even faster if I had a bike with me. I replied to fractal offline about the hotel I stayed in, but my main bit of advice was to use the side roads -- stay off the highways at rush hour(s)!

  22. quote:Originally posted by Steak N Eggs: What is the cost?????? For the G.I.Joe's 200, here's the ticket info. I imagine you're limited to general admission or icky seats by this time. I went last year in the rain and the general admission worked out just fine. Note the $10 difference between buying ahead of time vs. at the gate. If you meant Hot Track, it's $16 per session (8 minutes), but there are a bunch of exceptions. $14 for members ($10 membership that comes with some other perks), half price ladies night on Wednesdays, specials on Mon and Tues, etc. Not cheap, but FUN!
  23. We'll have to do it on a rainy weekend too (can't do it on a sunny weekend). For all of you who couldn't make it, the pit crews and other support teams for the races this weekend at PIR were given special discounts. The track was at capacity -- I've never seen it so packed! I hope to see some of you at the G.I.Joe's 200 . . .
  24. Ok now, that was fun! Almost as fun as making my many movies! Shinwa has the spike, so stay tuned for the next installment . . . Ron
  25. Wear sneakers or something, not stiletto heels. Wear jeans, even though it'll finally be hot. Bring motorcycle helmet, if you have one. You might want thin gloves, especially with rubber in the palms. I use bicycle gloves.
