KITTY! He looks so much like orange guy...circa late 1994. I named mine Julius; just seemed appropriate, ya know? He's now 17. He's doing very well for his age, and I will be an absolute wreck when it's time to say goodbye.

Recently I was reading the logs of Ol' Mossback's Calicuda Point cache. A few days prior a post was made about an injured seal being sighted near GZ. A subsequent post showed a picture of the seal.
SeaWorld has a rescue and rehabilitation programme for marine mammals. Their number is (800) 541-7325. They will ask for detailed information as to the type of animal, extent of injuries, and where the animal is located. I called them about this seal, and the following day they got back to me, informing me that they had received another report about the seal. However, lifeguards had not seen the animal, and based on the reported location it was felt that it would be too dangerous for both the rescue crew and the seal to attempt a capture.
For non-marine animals, Project Wildlife is the go-to organisation. They have information about what to do when you encounter an injured wild animal, from a hummingbird to a mountain lion. Their hotline is 619-225-9453.

Most of you are aware that the "new viruals" are these "Challenge" caches. Whilst at Fiesta Island I completed the 10,000 Pieces of Litter challenge.
The idea is for people to go to a park and pick up 10 pieces of trash. If I can do this, anyone can.
As such, I am issuing this same challenge to everyone here. Caching in parks is a common thing; we all do it. So why not leave the park a little better than you found it?
I did one of those here locally. does that mean i can log this too as for doing whats asked?
I believe the first step is to accept the challenge, then go out and perform the requested task. You go to the heading PLAY, and from there select Find Challenges. At the moment all I can see are 7 challenges (someone local has completed *8* challenges so I know I'm not seeing them all). One of those is the 10,000 Pieces of Litter challenge. Accept the challenge, go chase down 10 bits of errant detritus, and then come back and mark the challenge completed.

What does it mean when you are looking at your statistics, and the number of caches you have found differs from the number of distinct caches you have found? This just came up for me, and I curious.

It probably means you've logged a cache twice...
I don't think so. I've not been in this area before...but at the same time I will admit that after a while the caches do begin to blur, and I will admit to getting confused with all the recent Fiesta Island hides. Maybe that's where it is...

Welp...I checked my logs for Fiesta Island, and there it was: two logs for the same cache. I deleted one of them, so once again there is equilibrium in The Force.

I don't think so. I've not been in this area before...but at the same time I will admit that after a while the caches do begin to blur, and I will admit to getting confused with all the recent Fiesta Island hides. Maybe that's where it is...

Boy do I agree. I've got one bug missing now for about 7 months. My other has gone a month after being picked up with no log.
I also hate it when ppl won't log Not Found. They're too embarrased to say but the owner needs to know if something is wrong so he/she can take care of the problem so others don't waste thier time.

-->I will fess up to being one of those who will not necessarily post a DNF. Whether or not I post one depends on a number of things. If I show up not too long after a find, and despite my searching I come up empty, I will more often than not not post the DNF because I will assume that I was merely being blind. I will go back, check the logs, and give it another shot. Or two. Nothing is more annoying than posting a DNF the same day that someone posts a find. (It's happened to me more than I would care to admit.)
Also, another reason is because if I find a cache that has a DNF posted, I will usually not bother, especially if the posted DNF is by a cacher with 4 digits worth of finds. I will assume that if that person couldn't find it, I'm certainly not finding it.
However, if it's been months since the last find. I will post a DNF.
On the flip side, some COs are really bad about responding to DNFs. There are caches out there with more than 4 or more DNFs in a row, spanning more than 6 months, and the CO has never posted a response. When I come across those, I post a recommendation that the cache be archived. This probably makes me unpopular, but I believe it's important to ensure that the posted caches are viable.

Recently I bought a premium membership, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get set up to receive emails when a new cache is placed. I have searched, but I cannot find anything that will enable me to set this up, and it is clearly not automatic.
Any information on how to get this started will be appreciated.

Click on the "Your Profile" button on the top of any cache page, click on "Quick View" and then about half way down on the right there will be a section for "Premium Features" and in that box will be a link to "Set Up Notifications." Everything you need is in there...
Oh, wow. I was not even looking there. I was focused on the top row of options. Thank you VERY much for showing me this.

So far in my travels I have met Blonde HiLites and Triple Crown. The thing I like most about this hobby is that it takes me to places that I otherwise never would have visited. Not too long ago I finally took the plunge and bought a premium membership...so now I have access to even moooooore caches!
