  1. We just found one last week that was made of wire in the shape of a scorpion, I'll see if I can upload a picture, very clever and artistic!
  2. Nope, some of us don't care about the sales threads or ebay threads, so it'd just be one to go through! Just a question, do you buy geocoins or just trade? Neither actually, my collection are all ones that have been given to me by their owners/makers. I am only into coins that come from someone I have a connection with.
  3. Nope, some of us don't care about the sales threads or ebay threads, so it'd just be one to go through!
  4. The reason I put cointests in there are that most of them are an indirect promotion for a coin that's for sale or going to be in the future.
  5. I don't see why you would have to move threads back and forth, it's either a sale or it's not. Or to clarify even more, sales, cointests, auctions, benefits, would fall under one group and anything that's just talkin about coins would go in the other group. Adding also.... If it's getting to the point where this would be too much for just 2 mods, maybe another mod should be added, or each mod could take one forum. I know Eartha already has the bugs to deal with too, so maybe more manpower is in order. I like reading about how far a coin has gone, or what special coin you found, I hate having to weed through all the sales.
  6. I just started on thread in the gc website forum about splitting the coin forum, if you're interested go chime in, seemed like a good time to hopefully get the attention of TPTB.
  7. There's a current thread going (in the geocoin forum) about how the geocoin forum has become largely sales based and any discussion thread that starts is quickly buried. There are a lot of coin collectors who would love to see the board split into two, one strictly for sales and one for the discussions about coins. It would be great to be able to look at sales if that's all you wanted and on the other side avoid the sales if you just want to talk coins and not wade through pages of new coins on the market. Doesn't seem like it would be a big deal to do.
  8. I agree that this should be a discussion board, but I don't see the difference between an ebay sale and a private sale. The board has been overrun by them for a long time now. It would be very nice if TPTB would split the coin forum into sales and discussions, maybe someday?
  9. There are so many coins out there I wouldn't even know how one would keep track. I say just ask them, what's the worst that's gonna happen? They'll just say no, no biggy! I think most traders are very nice, if you get turned down just don't take it personally.
  10. I think the good that has come out of this C4 is that I (and others) see that some things haven't changed. I really didn't know the answer until this thread came up, as so much has evolved from the beginning. I think it's good for everyone to know, as I'm sure some newbies wouldn't have a clue that it's not an accepted practice. For those in this thread bashing the people in here, shame on you.... I've seen first hand how many of you "chat" on that chat board of yours. It would get you banned in here the way you spit venom about people, so don't come in here and talk about us not being a nice community, we would never talk about others the way you do.
  11. Ok, slightly off topic, but where did the bids go? I thought it was up to like a hundred when I was last on my ebay page. Never noticed that before.
  12. Seriously? We are talking about people here, about integrity. It really has little to do with the coin, the coin was just the door that opened to something much deeper.
  13. Yes, I do. Absolutely, sell them, it's just a coin, if you need it for a kidney (or rent, medical bills, car repairs, etc).... but, I still would not trade in the future with that person. Everyone comes across hardships, and we all have our own way of dealing with them. Nothing wrong there. The issue comes when the person expects to come back in and start all fresh again, just doesn't work that way for me. Sure, you can buy and trade, but I wouldn't expect to be getting anything special, and there will be people who won't trade with you at all. Maybe this is it for coins for this person. In that case sell them off and don't worry about who you ticked off. To me there are coins that even though they are in my possession they are a part of that person and I would never sell them, I would give them back, but to me they just really aren't mine to sell, they're just special.
  14. Nope. I'm not pleased, and I let the seller know about it last night. Nothing I can do about it but express my disappointment. Ultimately...it's my own fault for trying to do something different around here. Rather than babble on about my stupid idea again, just read it here. The coin was a gift to the seller for showing exceptional kindness on these forums. Whenever I sent out any Golden Yime, I specifically asked the receipient to do anything they like with it except part with it for profit. As you can see, profit won. Lesson learned. I feel for ya, oh Citrusy one. I cringed when I saw Dave mentioned one was up, and fell off my seat when I saw the gc ID of the seller. We all lived that thread with you. Sorry dude I second that, the yimes are precious.
  15. Question... Would you trade again with someone that sold your trade only or gifted coin?
  16. I knew I shouldn't have sold your coin
  17. I think that if a coin was sold, then ebaying it is just fine. On the other hand, if a coin was gifted to someone, it's just plain wrong to sell it. I know, I know, once you let it go it's not yours, but I won't trust that person (even if it wasn't my coin they sold). There is just some etiquette that should not be let go of in here, after all that's all we really have holding this community together. The selling of a a gift just shows a total lack of respect and a slap in the face to the person who was generous enough to give you something you wanted.
  18. Is the seller the owner of the coin? If so, then they should be able to adopt it over to you no problem. If they are not the owner of the coin, then it is stolen and you should get your money back.
  19. I'm so confused. Are these a competitor to pathtags or is there another one besides those that are being referred to? I'm not trying to start anything, I really don't have a clue what else is out there or if these are unique.
  20. Education is great, I would just caution about anything to official. Case by case is much better or things can turn into a nightmarish permit only kinda process.
  21. Realized I was derailing this so editing out so that this can stay on topic!
  22. Editing out to leave this to mail topic.
  23. Wow, those are really pretty. That's a lake?! Looks more like an ocean! You can tell I'm a west coast girl huh!
