  1. C'mon, it really has nothing to do with a dirty mind, which we may or may not have people, the coin says "you never forget your first" and the icon had been a cherry, it doesn't take a gutter or much imagination for that fact...
  2. My my people are getting defensive. Please, keep this on topic. If you don't see it, that's ok, if you don't, but want to, ask for help, that's ok, if you do see something, that's ok too.
  3. Sorry Jsam, I'm not buying it. What's with the title of the coin and the icon then? You got one past GS, what can I say? I don't find it disgusting, just not appropriate for this venue. A side note, I brought in a fresh set of eyes, who knows nothing about coins or caching and it took her about 10 seconds to read it and look at it before she "got it", and my Mother certainly does not have her head in the gutter!
  4. Seriously? Nudity is not the issue here, that's a personal choice and there are plenty of areas where public nudity is perfectly family friendly, but you don't go flaunting certain areas (as the coin has). I wouldn't even care about it if it was non trackable and personal, the issue for me is that it was approved by the Org. who says this is all supposed to be family friendly.
  5. I really wasn't sure if I was going to post this, as it may end up being free advertising for this coin.... But, I was quite surprised to see that this coin had tracking numbers on it. I'm far from a prude, but do strongly believe that geocaching should be family friendly, so when I saw that Groundspeak had approved this design I was stunned. (Take a close look at the back especially) Is this a case of approver not taking a close look at the design or is it really come down to anything goes as long as you are paying for those tracking numbers? And why would someone design, make and sell a coin like this knowing that it is supposed to be family friendly? Just to see if they could get away with it? (Sorry in advance mods, I know this will probably stir up all kinds of trouble, but it IS trackable, so it's fair game!)
  6. Is it possible that people thought they were just great swag? If there is no note attached to it many people don't even know that they are meant to travel (there are a lot of clueless people out there! Just kidding, not everyone is up to date on all that travels now.)
  7. As long as you "dip" it in the cache for appropriate mileage I don't see a problem, after all, isn't the goal of these things to move and travel? Does it really matter who logs it as long as it gets logged? Often we pick up travellers and then re-drop them before the person ever gets back to computer access. I personally don't feel like waiting and remembering all that. Not to mention if it's not in the inventory of the cache I have since dropped it in everything gets all messed up and is way more work to correct. And all for what? If you have no plans to drop it in the next few days, then I suppose it can wait, otherwise it really should be accounted for properly.
  8. It's not so much what else needs to be said, but who else needs to say it. By that I mean that as the days go by more people come out of the shadows and share their experiences. This is important both for them (to get it out in the open) and for the rest of coiners (for buyer beware info.). Paula is already going back on the "I"m done working with other people" to "I'm in no hurry", so it is important that there is a complete list/record of all the people who have had problems, as she may be back doing it again in the future.
  9. I see them meet their goals all the time. Sure, sometimes people pay no attention to the goals, but more often than not people do. It really helps if a goal sheet is attached to the bug so people know right then and there if they can help it, versus it only being on the computer. Sometimes it takes years to meet a goal, other times just a few months.
  10. I absolutely agree. I think the good, the bad, and the ugly should be allowed to be discussed as long as it is done in a civil manner. I also agree that once people turn things into a business that you lose the "personal protection" clause, and while people should not be nasty, feedback good or bad should be allowed. If I see one or two complaints about someone I take it with a grain of salt, figure it was a miscommunication or whatever and don't worry about it. A negative review here or there is not going to destroy someone's business. On the other hand if there is a common link and a ton of issues with a certain vendor/business, this is a red flag. How are we supposed to know this if we can't be allowed to discuss it in a um, what's it called? FORUM..... Isn't that what forums are for? To discuss things? Oh wait, no, they're for cointests, I forgot. Sure, it would require monitoring and some maturity on the part of the people posting, but hey, maybe we can actually rise to the occasion and be grown ups. And maybe, a little more feedback would let vendors know when there is a problem and allow them to address the situation and work it out. Granted some people are impossible to work with and it's not always the vendors fault, but that generally becomes obvious pretty quickly if that is the case. I vote for an open forum (not that that's worth much).
  11. The trade even or up, does NOT apply to trackables. Trackables, be it coins or bugs are meant to move, and nobody is expected or ever should be expected to trade anything for them. If you can move something along in a timely fashion towards its goal, then grab it, it's not part of the "trading" game. Enjoy!
  12. It really depends if you want to collect the coin or the icon. For me, the only reason to have it be trackable is if I'm going to set it free to travel, otherwise it doesn't matter at all. Most of the coins in my collection that are trackable I never bothered to activate, just don't have any interest in a big ole long list of icons. There are a TON of non-trackable coins out there, part of the fun is the hunt for them, it's a whole new world just waiting for you! Do what makes you happy!
  13. That's quite the testament for that stroller!!! I love hearing about parks opening up to caches, it's wonderful that someone put in the time to make this happen. Then, to have coins in the caches, wow, icing on the cake! Thanks for sharing.
  14. Nope, cuz there's a coin being given away for it.......
  15. Those are very cool, love to see the grassroots sig items! Thanks for sharing.
  16. Sorry Yime! Congrats Dave! Gotta say it was one heck of a series though.
  17. Hula Bum edit to add full quote You know what's funny is how the quote is used by so many now and has totally morphed into other meanings. I wonder how many actually know what it truly means (or meant as the case may be)! Never realized how many different ways it would be used. Yime?!
  18. Welcome to the crazy world of coins. A great place to start is at the top of these forums where the pinned threads are. After that feel free to ask away any questions not answered.
  19. I think we all feel your pain! It's ok to vent. I personally find that drilling and tagging them seems to slow down the thiefs (though it doesn't keep them from getting lost at the bottom of someone's bag.) I wish we could just thump all those thieves on the head!
  20. ok, i officially need to see a photo of this. everyone is talking about it! lara Here u go.
  21. Locally would be where? Hard to say who is near you if you don't say where here is!
  22. Heck, I'm just impressed to see a state coin made by someone in the state. We all know how I love people making coins when they've never even been to the place! Nice and clean design.
  23. Thank you mystery mickey! Found one of these little gems on our travels this wknd. What a treat!
  24. The funny part is we only did 25 caches! Still trying to catch up on sleep. Working on getting the pix uploaded, there were a lot of them!
  25. We put on almost 1400 miles on our trip (even though Wheatland was only 3 hours away!). We ended up in Oregon, Nevada, and California and scattered coins all along the way. Got rained on, saw lightening, got snowed on and got to experience some of that lovely sierra wind (had enough of that back in January). Had a blast, but man am I glad to be out of the car! So, where did u go? Burney Falls and the bridge used in Stand By Me would have to be two of my favorite stops along the way.
