  1. Ok, I'll bite, why is it so expensive?
  2. I recently went on vacation and was out of contact for 6 days. When I got home there were 134 emails from GC. I love to read them on a day to day basis, but it's just too much when I get back to go through them all. Is there a way to stop the emails while I'm gone and then re-start them when I get back?
  3. One of the K9 cachers coins in the series has a goldie on it. Doesn't mean that you can't make a personal with your pooch on it!
  4. I wouldn't mind at all if it were activated, kinda cool really. No need to adopt over, it's mine to enjoy and look at in my collection.
  5. Who can or Who SHOULD? Those are two very different questions IMO. Which answer are we going for here?
  6. You may want to post in here.... Coin purchase issues list
  7. As always, very nice LFD!!! Hope one of these makes its way down here for us to move along!
  8. Not sure where to find them for sale (though I do not what you're talking about). A quick an inexpensive way to do it is to make your own though. Print up whatever you would like it to say (including the mission on one side if you so desire) and then laminate (you can use those self stick sheets if you don't have a machine), put an eyelet on one side and then run airplane cable or whatever through and there you go.
  9. I certainly hope he is watching. This will come up over and over until it is cleared up, either by sending out the coins owed, or by refund. I'm guessing that you didn't explain to him the thousands of dollars worth of coins you owe to the people here? Perhaps if you had he would have decided to announce this on his own..... You are right, it is Jeremy's coin, and he should be the one to announce it. How did you think it would look? Seriously, it can't be a surprise that people are ticked that your in here with this?
  10. www.coinsandpins.com sells a coin called a travel slug for right around $4. It's trackable and may be what you're looking for. The other option is a travel bug, they're generally the cheapest thing. Drilling a hole in them and attaching a sheet to them helps from being stolen, but no guarantees. As for ebay, once you activate it, that greatly decreases them ending up on ebay. Welcome and good luck!
  11. Wow, by the end of the year huh?!
  12. How about a list similar to the coin travel/mileage thread? So I would say: XYZ Coin ---Ordered 3/14/08 by Hula Bum, not yet received Then someone could add and edit so it would then be: XYZ Coin ---Ordered 3/14/08 by Hula Bum, not yet received ---Ordered 3/16/08 by Joe Cacher, not yet received Go Coin ---Ordered 5/12/08 by Joe Cacher, not yet received and so on. Perhaps a minimum of 2 or 3 months before the coin is listed on the page? This would show just how many people have not received what coins, no flaming necessary, just simple and concise facts. G
  13. Perhaps I am seeing it as something totally different than what was intended. There are a lot of "coin makers" out there now, and sadly more and more seem to be popping up that are not reputable or trustworthy. The people "in the know" know who they are, but what about the rest? Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a resource for people to go to ensure they're buying coins from someone who is actually going to send them their coins?
  14. I think something certainly needs to happen, and I think that you've got a good idea. I think in addition to the vendors needing to be part of this, 5-7 coiners need to be part as well, to be the voice of the customer if you will. Whether or not TPTB will allow this info. on their site, I don't know, but there's no shortage of people who can build a site around here! Not selling anything, so not competing....
  15. I agree, by being on the "approved" vendor list, they are promoting a company, and therefore they should both delete their name and stop selling them tracking numbers. Plain and simple.
  16. If there are enough people who have been taken, isn't there some legal recourse? They're still selling on ebay, yes? So, they're still in business....
  17. Just curious, to Eric Buell just walk up to your bike while it was parked and take it upon himself to sign it, or did he ask you (or you ask him)? If he just walked up without your consent, I would call him very full of himself and disrespectful of your property. If, on the other hand, it was invited, well then, it's all good. A simple email BEFORE you did it when have saved all this headache, and your name.
  18. As to your questions Sillygirl, no I think it is very bad form to write those numbers down at an event. If the coin isn't activated, then it's not ok to do anything with it. The only time you should be able to discover a coin is if the owner of the coin wants you to, plain and simple. When did this get so out of control? People are getting way to obsessed about those icons....
  19. Yeah, I would call that "virtual" logging, wouldn't you?
  20. He has the right to collect money for the coin, that's it, plain and simple, once money exchanges hands, he relinquishes ownership (unless of course it was already stated that he maintained control of the coin and could do with it what he pleases BEFORE you purchased it). Here we go back to the sense of entitlement people seem to have......
  21. So, I was just informed that this person is not new to caching.... New to coins? Or just completely lacking in ethics?
  22. I don't think GS ever saw this coming up, so there would be no rule for it, but as new cachers come in, apparently so comes a new lack of ethics. Perhaps it's time that TPTB make a rule, cuz if the maker can make discoveries on my coins off his special list, then I'm pretty sure I don't want to be buying coins from that person. It surprises me that Eartha would actually think this is ok.
  23. OK, where is a mod? It seems to me that this is a situation that merits the name of this person being disclosed, buyer beware, it's not bad mouthing, but isn't that what this community is for?
