  1. Who stops geocaching? I always carry the GPS (iQue 3600 - PDA/GPS combo). Interesting caches in address book. Always carrying one of my coins, just in case!
  2. Love the CA micro poppy, Kansas micro and Indiana micros. I'd be in for 10.
  3. I think you can talk about them. Just not link to where they are sold. And I'm not sure about the trade only ones.
  4. Back in 2005, there was a California wooden nickel made. Not Geocaching.com trackable, but tracked at:Geocoin.net. They came out to cost about .33 (USD) each. If I remember correctly, AC-pilot designed and ordered them. Hope this helps.
  5. Ordered my coins. Thanks Chris.
  6. I purchased some and have put them on my geocoin list (see link in signature).
  7. I've called my iQue 3600 "Troy" while vehicle navigating. I didn't like the "american" voice and loaded the "british" voice. Then "it" sounded like a certain spaceship's counelor. Funniest when she says " take the romp right", which should be ramp.
  8. Can you give me the link or tell me where to find the monster list? Thanks! Monsterlist
  9. Ordered the five pack. Got six! Four black nickel, one gold LE and a LE coin to drop off. Thanks Larry! I will drop it off soon!
  10. Just checked and it says update available July 29th for $75.00 (Garmin site)
  11. iQue 3600. Palm and GPS in one package. Find the cache and log it right there. Sync it up later and copy the log entry to the GC site.
  12. I have already posted that the problem with the icon(s) are that when you bring up 25 caches in a search, that coin icon showing up is just a beacon to thieves. A non Gc trackable coin (like mine) must be searched for either by reading the logs or actually looking in the cache. Now if a certain E company would go after people who are selling stolen coins, this could help the situation. Then all you have is the thief who shows his/her coins to friends as part of his/her collection. They can't really do anything else with them. Maybe if they get tired of that coin, they could put it back in circulation - no questions asked ( oops, I found this coin in my drawer. Putting it back out soon).
  13. "Earth Geocoin" ready to "drop".
  14. KE6VUP here. I've just got interested in APRS. I have the TH-D7G and TM-D700A. UI-view is a great program for APRS. And the FRS freq. are not in the normal range of a ham radio(but I have it too!). Working on a tinytrak3 unit too. Not much use for geocaching.....yet.
  15. Some 2006 USA coins and a gold mtn-man coin.
  16. My nscaler gold and black nickel (see avatar) TFTC geocoins are trade fodder (and very nice "fodder trades" I've made, may I add) and placing in caches. Put two in Florida myself a week and a half ago. A personal coin is the only way to get some coins.
  17. My Black Nickel coin has a yellow fill. Very easy to read. Much better than my first coin. Gold finish, no fill, hard to read.
  18. With one notable exception coins as Travelbugs are a relatively new concept. (quote) The California geocoins have been trackable on "another" site since 2004. New concept?
  19. The problem with icons is that they advertise the fact a geocoin is there. I was looking at a possible cache to find, I immediately noticed the icon next to the cache description. This was not the specific log. This was on the list brought up from the geocaching maps section. I brought up the log and the last entry said the geocoin was not there. And I thought "why is the coin missing?". The icon! Some unscrupulous person saw that the coin was there because of the icon. They came by and took the coin. A log entry? And advertise who could of taken it? Now what they do with the coin? Just like the art collector who has stolen art they can show to no one, they have a collection that may only be shown to muggles. The muggle would not understand the point of the coin and think nothing wrong. They could be sold. Or they could be shown to no one at all. I collect coins. I have one wooden geocoin, a sig item. I have one plastic geocoin, another sig item. Both found in caches. All the others I have bought or traded for. When I wanted more coins, I had my own made. Trade fodder. When the thought came up of a GC trackable coin, I decided against it for cost reasons. Found a free tracking site which fit my needs and kept my cost down. Now I feel better about not going with the icon thing. Not to say the other site is any better. Just click on a "dropped" coin and there is the cache the coin was dropped in. Not a perfect world. Never said it was...
  20. How much are they going for at the event?
  21. There is no statewide organization here in Calif that I am aware of. The first two Calif coins were not done by a state geocaching organization. There are some regional groups including the Southern California Geocachers group (which is planning its own coin.) I don't think so. Marky is "up north" And we already made the San Diego County Coin. Is there another? I know "someone" is working on a 2006 CA coin. Trackable on this site. NOT ME!
  22. What size coin? 3/4 inch? 1/2 inch?(nah)
