    My Finds PQ

Wow - I hate change. Just gotta relearn my "steps" again.
  2. You are correct. But, since it is being discussed here now... Apparently their need for attention outweighs their "motive", hence the blog with pictures. Makes their motive suspect. He/she is proud of themselves and is using this to boost their self-esteem/self-worth. If this was truly being done with pure intentions, their blog would not name caches/post so many pictures. It would simply state - "this is my mission - here is one example, please make it yours too". It is either a couple, or a lady, or a man with rather long fingernails - eww (per one picture). If the motives were pure/sincere, this person would approach the land managers/cachers directly with his/her issues. Apparently they are new to the sport, else they would know how well cachers cooperate to correct problems. Their extreme dislike for dogs would probably make them easy to identify - I would not be surprised if they are vocal locally about leash law violations in the parks there.
  3. Looks like they've started clearing Highway 20 through the North Cascades this week. Opening day is coming early this year!! I might have to venture up there to see if I can be one of the first across. I heard something about a lady who brings homemade Cinnamon Rolls for the first people to go through the gates...mmmm (even though I don't need them! ) WSDOT SR 20 Info
  4. Glad to hear your experience was good. Ours wasn't as good. No table in the room (yep, hanging lamp above one chair & empty floor space where it was supposed to be), remote not working properly - tv buttons not working at all - couldn't turn tv down, dirty bathroom floor & a toilet that had been "used" not too long before it was assigned to us. No bugs though - and it was quiet. We asked about the table and was told they weren't supposed to have tables in rooms with 2 beds (complete bull). The rest we found out late & had already unpacked. At least it was quiet & my bed was comfortable.
  5. Check Travis's profile - there's a list there. Lots of people at the Poker Event tonight. I can just imagine what the first cache tomorrow a.m. will be like!
  6. In post #5 I posted a link to my bookmark list. This link will also show up on each cache on the list. You will have to make your own PQ since sharing PQ's is against the Groundspeak TOU. Travisl also posted a link to the PDF of the Street & Trips of the route. Jholly: Is this with all changes that Travis has communicated? I'll run my PQ tomorrow. I'm on the way early Friday AM to Delorme Challenge my way there. ROOM FOR 1 MORE if anyone is interested in a Friday-Saturday-Sunday Delorme/ CM trip. I've got my PQ set to run on Wed. We're also doing a 2 day Delorme run with 2nd day along the Columbia (& picking up the original stash the day before) and then hitting a couple more pages on the way home. Wow, the event dinner will be packed if all the 'will attends' & their posses show up!
  7. For anyone going to Dayton to grab page 96 we recommend Lewis & Clark camp GCNBX8. Only a couple of miles from town and one of our most memorable finds. I just added that one to my list for the CM run. I neglected to pick up that page when we were on our way back from the cache machine last year. I was just going to pick up a couple in Dayton, but now I'm routing out to Lewis&Clark. We're taking the LONG way to Walla Walla so that I can hit the Original Stash and then pick up the pages all along the Columbia.
  8. I just looked at Super8 on Google Street View Maps. There's an active RR right behind the hotel . Hope they have well-insulated walls.
  9. Thanks for the Super 8 intel; I booked my room there a month ago at AAA rate, which is more ($67). Just found the cheaper rate online - $46 w/ 1 queen bed - and switched reservations. Total is $101.98 with tax for 2 nights.Yep - I guess I should've said mine was for 2 queen beds. Didn't think about that. I couldn't find that rate, but just booked the Super 8 for $55.19 ($121.76 total). I'm going to keep looking, and cancel if necessary. I was already up to $60 on Priceline. Wow! That went quick. They're still showing a winter promo rate, but they've hiked up the prices!! That's nearly what it was before without the promo. Must be selling rooms out. Glad I grabbed it when I did.
  10. Too funny! Now Jeremy owns my Centennial Trail Bookmark list. At least it's within 100 miles of what his title says it should be, but none of mine are in the 5* terrain range. I...feel....privileged Hey Jeremy, while you're at it - can you delete the archived caches off my (excuse me, your) bookmark list? Thanks so much.....
  11. Thanks for the Super 8 intel; I booked my room there a month ago at AAA rate, which is more ($67). Just found the cheaper rate online - $46 w/ 1 queen bed - and switched reservations. 12. Now it looks like Super 8 has some sort of a winter promo going on. $53 before taxes per night, 2 night minimum. Looks like I might have to change hotels.....
  13. Between the time I first started looking for a hotel room & when I actually booked one, the LaQuinta ran out of double queen rooms. So my friend & I are now sharing a King room (military discount $70 a night). I believe the Super 8 still had rooms and were about the same price, but I haven't checked recently. I'd feel comfortable there probably. Most of them are clean & in good areas. If anyone is looking for hotel rooms, they'd better book soon!
  14. Yay!! I've been waiting for this topic (and event)!!
  15. Thanks to tozainamboku & t4e for being patient with a technically challenged person I will try that & see if it works.
  16. Wow - so my browser gets the GC website to issue an error message (generated by GC) to me specifically about only one of my multiple bookmark lists? I'm having a hard time believing that for some reason. I absolutely don't want to clear the cache - it's a record place holder of sorts for me. This is a very recent development for me and I have been running Firefox for years. I am SO hoping you are mistaken...
  17. As of this morning, this is also my problem with one of my bookmark lists (see Whidbey Island bookmark list). I can edit the bookmark title and info. I can add to the list. But I cannot view it. What gives? I checked a couple of my other bookmark lists and had no problems. I'm going to go now & check ALL of them to see if there are any others.
  18. I just logged on to see if anyone had posted anything on this after I watched the news story. Didn't hear her mention her caching name. Just curious.
  19. I'd have to all-out agree with Bittsen here.
  20. I'm terrible with real names, so forgive me...wonder who he is (geocaching name). Funny they call it the search for buried treasure.
  21. On of our favs...and in a beautiful location too! That one's been on my "must do" list for a long time. Someday I'll get out there!
  22. My dad was pretty certain that they were gone, as he's looked for them when he goes by that area while working, and he goes by pretty often. Wow thats just sad. Hopefully they didn't do the dishonorable thing and scrap them. I wonder who would know what they did with them!! Judging by the caption to the picture, I would say that they did.... Yep - that's what they did. Here's the response to my email: "The Snoqualmie Railroad Museum showed an interested in the cars, but because of budget and lack of staff they decided they would be interested in only pieces/section of the railcars. When the museum did not follow through, we contracted with a firm that abated and removed the cars from the site. They had to take the cars out in sections and I believe they recycled the metal."

  24. I'll have to look at the article now, but I do know of a couple of passenger rail cars that were at the Cicero Ponds (a bog just east of Arlington). If they are still there, you would definitely see them while on your way to GCV55P. Don't know if they're still there, but I'd bet they are. This isn't a "whole train" or even part of a logging train, but it's the only rail cars abandoned out near a bog that I know of.
