  1. HELP !!! Ive installed greasemonkey and installed the user script BUT the co-ords remain 'unclickable' Basically its not linking them to anything. Running firefox 1.0.4 Showing greasemonky icon etc and its installed and running ok...... HELP !!
  2. Just seen this on BBC local news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/4548591.stm And check out this cache using the waypoint : GCMEVW Were they out caching or is it a pure coincidence ? If they were out caching, did they give it away ?
  3. Thanks for all your advice, it does seem a " dodgy " sort of guideline area doesnt it ? Say for example that Cheshire county council give us blanket permission , would you still have to contact the local council and what would happen then if they said "no"...... I think that if someone said "yes", take his name and then you could refer back to him if any problems arose. I think its sounds like common sense where you decide to hide your cache doesnt it ? Has anyone had any problems with their local authorities ?
  4. Hi, As a newbie, I was wondering if there is any sort of U.K. map which states which county/local councils have already allowed caches to be placed on their "land" and also in the future ? It would save you hassling them and save a lot of time and waiting for then to get back to you saying yay or nay...
  5. I stand corrected....... Can we get back to the original question please ? I am a relative newbie to Geo and just asked a "newbie" type question. Cheers all M.M.
  6. We'll agree to disagree over the postage costs but with ref to Credit Card processing, I know that c.c companys do not actually charge for using them via websites and shops, some companys such as American Express actually pay the retailers a percentage, they make their money by charging people like you and me interest rates etc. Thats why it is encouraged to use c.c. where you can as the retailer actually makes money out of you using them, also ( on the high st front ), there is no cash on the premises etc and less risk involved. Yeh, Im always dodging the manic car drivers and breathing in the fumes but hey, its more fun than getting brainwashed watching the adverts for credit cards on tv waiting for the post to arrive. Thank you for not charging me for your replys, but again at £20 a hr I dont carry small change around, tend to give it to the kids for sweets. Once again thank you for your thoughts. M.M.
  7. Thanks for replying, I agree with you with reference to not finding any geocache stuff in the shops, maybe its an opening for some camping/walking places such as "Blacks" etc What I find disapointing is the idea that you think that I may be taking the piss by ordering small items from the websites concerned, I know ( by knowing people in retail ) that it is the small items that add up and make a business profitable, ( Ebay although not quite the same bag is a perfect example of this ) the fact that they offer such items proves this, secondly and most important, is that when you have a 7yr old who wants to join this exciting hobby of geocaching and when he asks if I can get him such a small item, what would you do. Say "no sorry, you cannot have them as the p&p is too much". ? The future of any sport/hobby is to encourage newbies of any age and quite frankly this attitude ( if you are correct ) is disgraceful. As for the expense ( £3 ) of travelling 15 miles in car, I use a push bike so it doesnt cost me anything apart (from my time) which would be approx the same time that it took you to write your reply. Again thank you for your thoughts, M.M. P.S. Ive just paid £11 for next day delivery for £70 worth of gear and guess what ? It hasnt turned up
  8. Hi, Does anyone know where I can purchase T.B.s in the U.K. preferably in the North West area? I have ordered them thru various websites and had a few delivery problems and would love to be able to "go to a shop" and buy some. Also I think the p&p that some sites charge is disgusting, I was charged £3+ the other day for 5 small cache stickers which could have been put in a envelope for 50p Thank in advance Mellowman
