And a bottle of Marias favourite perfume from "To Kill a King" Chris If only life had an undo button.... London & UK Geocaching Resources: http://www.sheps.clara.net

  9. quote:Originally posted by DEEGO:while we are on the subject (if indeed we are) why is there a 0.1 mile rule? I don't get it at all 0.5 of a mile or more I could see (not saying it SHOULD be more), but why 0.1? it hardly seems worth it Ahh, But take a read of the various threads about it. You will invariably find an American *****ing about it. Its one of those things I'll never understand - why 0.1 of a mile should be such a problem in the USA - after all its huge! We seem to manage it OK in these crowded little islands, yet it seems to be too hard when you have an absolutly mahosive area...too weird. Chris If only life had an undo button.... I HATE Virts, i really do (and that is why i have only done 2 and i only did those to get them off the top of my nearest cache list) Agreed! I dont do locationless caches, and I dont want those who do do them (and enjoy themselves) to do them anymore - lets get rid of those. Personally I loath micros - lets ban them. Oh and multis - far too much walking - lets do away with them. Webcam caches - whats all that about? lets do away with those as well. Event caches - you shouldnt be able to claim a find for those. After all its only visiting a pub. Oh, I nearly forgot - unknown/surprise caches - they have to go. How do I know if its not going to be a micro at the end of it! far better to know what you are looking for. as for travelbugs....... Chris If only life had an undo button.... It's a virtual, and I suppose the people that set it up didn't want to be bombarded with a ton of emails... or maybe they wanted to promote membership. Thats ours! Actually it is members only because we didn't want any new cachers to be disapointed and old hands could apreciate the joke. If only life had an undo button.... Its a bit of a cludge but it should save some decryption frustration!. Always share your kludges - you are not alone. What did you do to get it to work? http://YeOleImposter.DoesntExist.com This seems to grab most images I Need (someone will post now to tell me that I have done this completly wrong). Add the foloowing to the cache or hint template in gpxSpinner: <a href="http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/%ID%_200.jpg">Image 1</A> <a href="http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/%ID%_300.jpg">Image 2</A> <a href="http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/%ID%_400.jpg">Image 3</A> You get a lot of 404s but you also get the images you want. 19. So, let me get this straight..... Is there the possibility of a beer tent? If only life had an undo button.... London & UK Geocaching Resources: http://www.sheps.clara.net
  20. Slightly 'off topic', but if you do Fossil Transfer and Harry's Place, we would firmly recommend the partaking of refreshments at the Monsal Head Hotel (next to the Car Park). Yummy food (especially for non meat eaters), and so Chris tells me, good beers (guess who ended up driving when we went there?) Maria If only life had an undo button.... 21. quote:Originally posted by Teasel:I'd also add http://stats.guk2.com/caches/osgb_cache_details.php?g=31240&log=y to the list. A genuine terrain 1, I'm afraid, but it meets Slytherin's "must do" criteria (if only on a technicality! ). Well if we are using slytherins criteria - there is this one: Mother Lode. it was lashing down, we got right near to the cache and I pulled out the palm-pilot to check what size cache we were looking for. It seems like some water got in the electrics as it rebooted and cleared all the data! All the cache details & all our log notes were lost. I was so gutted I could really be bothered to look hard for the cache, so we headed for base + tea & cake. So that makes that a must do as far as Alex is concerned Chris If only life had an undo button.... London & UK Geocaching Resources: http://www.sheps.clara.net
  22. quote:Originally posted by fizzymagic:The images associated with a cache are not found in the GPX file; they only appear if the image is linked in the cache description. All you can do is request that hiders include any required pictures in the cache description. Hmmm, Thats what I thought! Hey Jeremy, any chance you could add the URLS for the images to the GPX files ?? If only life had an undo button.... London & UK Geocaching Resources: http://www.sheps.clara.net
  23. Ok, Maybe I'm missing something here but I download cache pages as GPX files then use GPX Spinner to turn them into web-pages I use plucker to push them on to my palmpilot. I can get any images embedded in the HTML description of the cache page but if the images are added to the page in the normal way (using the upload images button) I dont see them. This can be really irritating when you get a cache such as this one where upon decryption you discover you need a photo that has not been downloaded! Is there anyway the (url for) images can be added to the GPX file and/or that spinner can pick them up? Chris If only life had an undo button.... 24. in our defence. I would just like to say that we didnt have the picture with us. The same goes for petrus. Thats our escuse and we are sticking to it. If only life had an undo button.... London & UK Geocaching Resources: http://www.sheps.clara.net
