  1. Well done Peter - lcongrats from both of us.
  2. On a serious note :- I don't understand how "the authorities" have any right to demand this, arn't we supposed to live in a democracy with free-speech and all that. Surley we have the right to compile lists of whatever we want ? Or do we only demand those rights for iraqis ?? Chris
  3. Do April fools last all the way through April then ?? I can use autoroute to give me the coords to all the major train stations in central london, but an obscure list of mailboxes is a security risk.....your having a laugh. Chris
  4. I suppose our worst had to be Whernside as first time up we where beaten by heavy rain coming back a year later we rewarded with bright sunshine. Chris
  5. Being the author of Waypoint Workbench I have got used to recieving mails from all over the world requseting unusual conversions or special changes. Its nice to know that the software is used by Park Wardens in Australia, search and rescue in Canada and Geographers in south America, but this request caught me by surprise: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Chris n Maria, Although I'm not geocaching, I still found your site and your wonderfull Exel-program Waypoint Workbench 6.5.3. I downloaded the sheet to try it out for conversion of military Grid-coördinates used in WW II in the Netherlands, to the geographic coördinates as I learned about at school and which we still can find in an atlas. The Exel-sheet did not work well for this application. I think because these WW II military Grid-coördinates are not being used today. I need this conversion because I'm searching the relatives of a British soldier who's name and army-unit are unknown and who probably died after Christmas 1944 during WW II. At Christmas 1944 this soldier was billited in the Dutch village Stramproy. By investigating military movements written in the diaries of army units, I try to find out which army unit was in Stramproy at that moment. However I don't have the maps. If you like to read the story about this soldier and my investigations up till now, surf to my website http://home.hccnet.nl/j.schonkeren. Are you able to help me by sending an Exel spreadsheet which does this conversion. In your Workbench you did so many conversion that I thought it must be a peace of cake for you. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Thank's in advance, kind regards and succes with Geocaching. Jan Schonkeren ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyway I have passed Jan on to BigBird who is a dutch cacher who does lots of work with coords and Excel. If any one else can help Jan find this solders family it would be really great. Just thought I would share this little story. Chris
  6. When I started caching I had the misfortune to be standing on a tube train wondering why my trouser pockets were getting warm! It turned out that my spare batteries were shorting accross my keys causing a near conflagration in my underpants.!! Since then I have been more carefull with spare batteries but have noteced that if they get thrown about a lot they can nock against each other and flattern all too quickly. Finally I have found A solution which works great - no more inflagrations round my naughty bits for me Just thought I would share. Chris
  7. I think the whole apeal of cache trashing wears off pretty quickly - you go to all the effort of finding a cache, then ruin other peoples fun but you are not around to watch their reaction. All in all the excitement would pale pretty quick I recon.
  8. Big congrats john - that 1000 dosn't look too far off now Cheers CnM
  9. Late to the Party as usual - Well done a fine achievement. Congrats from us both.
  10. Strange when I explained caching to our local ranger he assumed that it was buried - yet still thought it was a good thing. Perhaps that was because they often ruin "buried treasure" games on open days. Different strokes for different folks I assume. Chris
  11. Big congrats Alex and Kim - treat yourselves to a pint (as if you needed encouragement ).
  12. Looks like a day for revelations...Anyone know who it was on the grassy knoll ? Chris
  13. Looks like the site is listing caches that were placed on the other site - talk to teasel he can explain whats going on. If you want to know about Mr Lovelocks story I suggest you do a search on the UK forums and read a lot of arguments. After that, please let it lie as we really don't want to go there again! Chris
  14. Boysie is a cocker spaniel - and very furry he is in this picture. Ozzy looks gorgeous - how old is he? (Maria this time - last 2 times have been Chris).
