  1. The don't like that railway or cable station, do they? I t can't be that bad...can it ???
  2. The Britannia is lovely - the bar is always full of dogs and their owners (mind you its not that big so thats 3 or 4 dogs). Also you could try The New Dungeon Ghyll very accomodating for dogs, the only place they are not allowed is the restaurant and they will serve meals in the bar if you canine companion can't bear to be parted from you. The Wheatsheaf at Carperby is also highly recommended we spent a pleasant week there and the food is triific. Checkout the Dog Friendly awards for other places - we have a place like this near us and its wonderfull. Hope that helps. Chris
  3. At the moment Boysie has done 3806 Miles which is quite a long way for a little dog! A big thankyou to all who have placed caches for us to find. We have cached over a fair chunk of the country and found that the standard of UK caches is really rather high. Thankyou all.
  4. You might want to tal to JoCache who recenttly completed the shelock series by bike. As an occasional (week day) London cyclist - I'd point out that there can be a lot of traffic and it is not for the faint hearted. Chris
  5. I contacted Garmin to ask when they would be doing the same and they said: Looks like they are trying to get it too. Chris
  6. Big congrats Dawn & Peder - thanks for all those lovely caches. CnM
  7. there is a GCUK link diirectory here might be of interest.... chris
  8. Well done John & thanks for all those lovely caches. Chris

  11. Well done Nobby - great work. This is a great breakthrough.
  12. If we found it we log a find. If we couldnt find it we log a DNF. If we gave up halfway through we log a note. About the only thing people get back for placing a cache is a log so we always like to let people know that we have at least attempted a cache. Generally our DNFs make for much more interesting logs than our founds and we log loads of them We did a multi recently where the generated numbers could not possibly have been right. Quite a few cachers before us had attempted it and guessed where the mistake was, but no one had mailed the owners to let them know. Once we mailed them they did their best to fix it - if you don't let them know of problems how can they fix it ? Chris
  13. You can find ours on the link below - nothing about our caching but hopefully some helpful stuff for cachers everywhere.
  14. We have 1 members cache - which is only a members cache for a very good reason that has nothing to do with trashing. It might help reduce the chances of the cache getting trashed but it seems to reduce visits quite a bit as well. Chris
  15. Just MHO but I would say go for it - best to go to the location and talk to the local park rangers. Most seem keen to encourage people on to their land and will advise you accordingly. The further you go up the tree, the more likely you are to encounter a no. Most wardens seem to welcome the CITO side of caching. Even if one landowner pulls all the caches on their land their are now thousands in the UK so the loss wouldn't hit us too hard. Chris
  16. Thanks Jeremy - It fixed itself 10 mins after I reported it. I'll keep letting you know - its hard to fix bugs you don't know about
  17. When I try to log into the site - I'm getting: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached. Is there a problem ?
  18. Sherlock 7 is quite roomy and there may be room in Not Picadilly as well.
  19. Would that work ?? If I was negotiating with the conservators of Epping Forest for instance, the area covered is about 12 miles long - wherever I placed a dummy cache, new cache placements wouldn't show up as being too close (1/10th of mile ??) would they if they were a mile away ?? Just wondering. Chris
