  1. Welcome back! I believe the 62s supports paperless caching, so you should be able to view the descriptions on the unit itself. You could use an app on your iPad for the descriptions (free or paid) as well (I use the Official Geocaching App by Groundspeak, $10). You can even save caches to offline lists of your iPad is Wifi only.
  2. Here are a few things I came up with: Smartphone: Pros: -Can get caches anywhere, anytime (as long as you have a date signal) -Convenient, most likely take it with you already -Can get your email for notifications Cons: -Not durable, drop it in the water it's ruined -You may or may not have to buy an app (there are some good free ones out there) -Of you're hiking and it runs out of battery it's not like you can bring an extra set :/ Handheld GPSr: Pros: -Rugged, durable, can take a beating -WAY better accuracy -Don't have to have an app for it -Some have longer battery life, can bring an extra set of battery's -It's how geocaching was started Cons: -Have to get caches from a computer, although it's easy with programs like GSAK -You might have to buy maps for it That's all I can think of for now, I'm sure other members will give you lots more. I'll update the list if I think of more too. Plus one except for Way better accuracy. I occasionally use my Galazy S4 and Montana simultaneously and while they will sometimes be 20 feet different that is well within acceptable parameters for any device. I taught a geocaching class several times and as we approached the first cache I asked the students to keep their eyes on their device (all were handhelds) and find the closest reading. Then I have them look up and see how far apart they are scattered. So two devices that far off is fine. I also have friends that have found thousands with their iPhone and when we go together sometimes my Montana is closer and sometimes their iPhone it. Thanks! Updated.

  4. Thanks! That's a great idea. How would I do that, is there a special program or something?
  5. Are there any free maps for the Delorme PN-30 out there? Right now I'm using Topo USA 8 and that's kind of outdated, so any suggestions for appreciated.
  6. I recall having this problem too.... Try using a different browser or switching to the old cache submission version.
  7. Quick question - are the topo maps on the GPS in the pictures the ones that came standard? If so they look pretty good. What do you think of them?
  8. Since he is new, he probably just "grabbed" the TB instead of "discovering" it by accident. I would just "grab" the TB back from him since you have the tracking #, then send him an email telling him how to discover it. EDIT: Oops didn't see Gitchee-Gummee's reply lol
  9. I just looked at the guidelines: 3. Geocaches are never buried, neither partially nor completely. If one has to dig or create a hole in the ground when placing or finding a geocache, it is not allowed. I think a "Needs Archived" note may be appropriate in this case. I'm surprised these even got published.... Maybe a Groundspeak official can clarify?
  10. I would post a "Needs Archived" note, reviewers usually get alerted when those are posted. I may be wrong, but I believe it says it the guidelines "Caches may not be buried". I will look into this more....
  11. Maybe you could add a feature to the Geocaching App, where there's an option to scan the barcode? That would be handy and cool too.

    TB Hotels

I would have to agree - TB Hotel Extraordinaire is my absolute favorite, even though I haven't found many TB hotels... It was in a great location and the interior was fantastic. It's a must find if you are in the area. The funny thing is, one of my TB's (TB4A18X) "stayed" in the hotel a few months after I found it. Cool, huh? This TB hotel - GC4G9Z3 in Tucson, AZ, comes close too. It's not as easy to access though, you have to climb through a bush with thorns.
  13. I was looking at the ISS Geocache Trackable list and surprisingly (or not) there are a few fake TB "dips".....Is there any way to report these?
  14. Will there be any price difference from the print version?
  15. Ok, thanks. One more question, Is there any way to search members?
  16. For some reason I can't seem to view the members list. If I click on the "members" tab, it brings up this error message: [#10230] You are not permitted to view our online list. Any ideas?
  17. EDIT: oops, sorry! didn't see that you were talking about the into app.... Actually, there is an Official app for android. I used it recently when out in AZ... It's works pretty well but I personally like the iOS app better. The layout is a little weird (maybe it's just because I'm used to the iPad app), it's a little more sluggish, and it had some glitches (it wouldn't work if you were connected to both a wifi & 4G network). Actually I just used it to find the caches and I used a computer to log them. But it depends on peoples tastes. Some people may like it, some people may not.
  18. Maybe there could be a feature where if you were a premium member, you could make the regular member your friend on gc.com and they could log the caches too, as long as the Premium member did? That's getting a but complex there, though....
  19. This still might be nice if even just the finds would count, and the ability to "dip" TB's. For instance, of you were at an airport in an other state, and wanted that souvenir, there would be no way to grab a cache unless you left security. With a Waymark there you could take a picture of yourself anywhere in the airport and log your find and count that state. Maybe the Websites could stay separate, but the finds/stats be combined. If I am not mistaking, don't we use the same username/password for logging into Waymarking.com? And yes a Waymarking app would be great.
  20. Well...seeing as how Waymarking is what happened when Virtuals were retired, it's not likely they'll ever bring 'em into the fold. Yes, you're probably right. Just an Idea though!
  21. I was thinking, would there be any way/interest in combining Waymarks with geocaching? Or even just Waymark finds? It would be nice to be able to Drop/Dip TB's and have the finds count on geocaching.com. Virtual caches are fun, but since they are long gone, it might be fun to have something to take its place. What does everyone think?
  22. Ok, I have found it now! I didn't see that the bar said 'My Finds' Thanks for your help everyone!
  23. I don't remember.... Maybe I didn't.... I will check some more, but I actually think i still have it And when I try run the one I have, it only shows 168 caches even though I have found 175. I have tried all options, is there something I am missing?
  24. Yes... wait for 3 days, then run it again. Check your Trash Can... it may be retrievable. No, you don't understand.... I didn't just delete the file, I deleted the category on the PQ page. Do you see what I mean?
  25. I accidently deleted the "My Finds" Pocket Query, and the profile program I am using doesn't work without it. Is there a way to un-delete it or bring it back? Thanks!
