  1. I've been using this script for some time now and all works fine except for one thing. I can't get the Final icon to display on the PC version of MM. All I get is the blue dot. All other icons display fine but not this one....anyone had something similar and/or can suggest a remedy?

  2. Oh Boy :P

Like many I never met him but had followed his story through here and find it very sad that someone obviously so well loved has passed away. It makes the way I spent today playing with my two young boys all that more precious and I hope that Ewan's family have similar memories to keep them going now :D

  3. Specifically Switzerland, Ireland, Germany and the Czech Republic.

According to this news item on the Camping and Caravanning Club website. I don't know the date of the report.

Has anybody else heard of this and perhaps have more information? The report doesn’t give much in the way of detail but seems to suggest that a using a POI file for hotels, petrol stations, geocaches etc is just as much a no no as those showing positions of a speed camera.

Guess I'm in bother then

Seriously I've never heard of this in Ireland. The Gardai were on the radio a few months back saying that POI DBs were a good idea as they helped people identify dangerous areas which is were they are likely to be monitoring speed and therefore will help reduce accidents.

Sounds like a whisper that has turned into a shout

  4. No help for unpacking (thankfully it's been a long time since I've needed to!) but at this stage why don't you get yourself a gmail address? Then nobody can stop it on you and you can access it anywhere in the world. You can even have multiple accounts for various uses and have them linked together. It's a very powerful tool and free

  5. I have been a silly boy and created a rather large watchlist which I want to clear out and start again with a selected few caches

So without clicking each one separately and deleting it is there a way to delete them all in one go ?

Did the very same thing myself once upon a time and found the easiest way to delete them was using the middle click on the scroll button of the mouse to open the remove link in a new tab. Then you can confirm the delete in the new tab. Every time I was online I deleted 20 or so until they were all gone. Took me a few days but it was less repetitive and boring

  6. We have never had a problem with PQ's arriving , they usually arrive within a couple of minutes HOWEVER we have had a days caching ruined today by the non arrival of a PQ. I checked that I hadnt made any mistakes and even ran another one to make sure and so far almost 7 hours later neither of them has arrived. Have also checked spam folder etc - sadly all to no avail.

I know I could have just downloaded each single GPX file onto the Oregon streaight from the cache page but that would have taken forever with 250 caches and as we had aboslutely no idea of where we would be going it seemed pointless . When is this problem going to be resolved -as there obviously is a problem somewhere ?

If it's for your usual area and just an update PQ could you not use an old one?

  7. I upload Field Notes from my Blackberry but I think the process is the same for all forms.

When the field notes are uploaded you get a screen that lists all the caches in the order that you marked them found. There is a link to the cache page, a link to post the log and one to delete it.

When you post the log you get taken to the usual log page with the Found/DNF/Whatever already selected. You can do whatever you want to the log text prior to hitting the submit button as usual.

Apart from PQs it's the single best facility I've seen added to the site since I started caching :)

  8. I was looking at Nuvi 265 but Garmin web site states this one was not geocache frindley...

That may be in comparison to the Garmin Oregon and Colorado models which are specifically designed for geocaching?

I have a 360 which says the same but can be easily used for caching:

I notice that the 76CSx is geocaching friendly as it has a specific geocaching function and uses the icons

  9. I can enter coords into my tomtom, but it's no good for caching as latches onto the closest road to the coords and takes you there. Great for parking coordinates but not much else.....

Personally I'd recommend a dedicated handheld designed specifically for the job.

The Nuvi has a pedestrian mode (similar to most Garmin handhelds). Does TomTom not allow for that?

  10. I use a Garmin Nuvi which is great for the car. If you become a premium member and start getting PQs and buy a program called GSAK then there is a macro which will download all the cache info to the Nuvi an you won't have to enter anything at all as it does it for you

All the Nuvis have Lat/Long capability even if you don't have PQs and GSAK

Saying that I don't actually like the Nuvi for caching and much prefer either a handheld GPS or my mobile phone with a BT GPS.

  11. Let others, including your local administrator, know about the problem.

    I don't think we've got any local administrators.. ??? :)

Check out the person approving and publishing you caches.

Technically they "review" rather than approve but they're not administrators. It's the responsibility of the cache owner to administer their own cache and police their own logs. In fact it's in the guidelines under maintenance:

...The cache owner will assume all responsibility of their cache listings.

The responsibility of your listing includes quality control of posts to the cache page. Delete any logs that appear to be bogus, counterfeit, off topic, or not within the stated requirements....

  12. I use my Blackberry pretty much exclusively now for caching with a BT GPS and Cacheberry but in the Irish weather I'm concious of the potential for disaster in the rain! Anyone got any recommendations for protecting a Blackberry from the elements.

My model is a Blackberry Pearl 8100

  13. I see from the GAGB Forum that the link to Terracaching was an error and was supposed to be to the GAGB. When the purpose of the piece was to introduce folks to geocaching I don't think TC.com would inspire them in any positive way. If the "politics" are to be kept out of it then having the link to GAGB with links and info for all the listing sites is IMO a much better idea.

    Well done again

  14. If you can't work out when Central Eastern Daylight Saving Pacific Western Time is .... you might find this Firefox addon useful. Foxclocks - puts world times into your status bar.

That's a nice Add-on......what is Seattle time listed as. It's not in the cities and i don't know enough about time zones to guess between Eastern and Central :D

Nevermind....Wikipedia is my friend....it's PST Pacific Standard Time (until Summer anyway!)
