  1. Mapsource does the same too and anyone with a Garmin will already have that. I regularly use it to convert from Irish Grid to Lat/Long and vice versa Edit >> Preferences >> Units and select whichever you want to use
  2. erik is a long time reviewer. He's based in Georgia but covers many different areas of the world that don't have their own reviewer (In fact he did Ireland up until I did). At the minute erik is helping Deci until replacement(s?) are found for the dynamic duo
  3. Maybe it's time there was a female UK reviewer.....it's all very male dominated here dontcha think
  4. Since I joined the reviewing team back in September all three UK reviewers have been a great help and a fantastic support for me. It's been a massive help to have the 3 of them at the end of an email, ready to listen to even the most mundane of queries. I was lucky to meet them all in person shortly (very shortly!) after joining when Jeremy came to London and I was looking forward to seeing them all again at the UK's 1st Mega Event in August. Somehow that won't be the same now and the absence of these 2 massively influential cachers to the UK scene appears to be having a significant effect. I and many others will miss them considerably
  5. Being a newbie as far as mapping GPS goes (proud user of a yellow whose finally thinking of upgrading) what 'value' is the base map? How detailed is it? The base map is useless on any machine I've seen. It only shows major cities and a vague coastline. To get any kind of detail you need Metroguide/City Navigator or something similar. Think of the World Map that you get when you install Mapsource. It's probably slightly worse than that
  6. The only difference is in the external shape and size and the fact that (as it's designed for marine use) the 76 range floats
  7. You can install UK and US maps on any handheld (I've seen it done) depending on the memory capabilities. AFAIK a unit can only have one basemap but then who uses that anyway!
  8. You need MM Navigator to do that but I assume by your comments that you know that already
  9. Good luck and when you catch one of those wild geese I'd like an egg Unfortunately, Mapsource V9+ is as good as you will get
  10. Why am i not suprised...here,have a towel to dry your hands on Uncalled for! You should read that comment again and this time remember to read the bit between the lines
  11. Beaker (can't be two of them though! Bunsen? Tripod? I think Bunsen sounds the most familiar
  12. Reviewers get notified of coordinate changes so it could be very embarrassing to get caught out trying to get away with something like this
  13. Install the mapping on your PC.This will give you Mapsource with the new maps as an option. Select the maps that you want on the Nuvi and use the Transfer to GPSr function. This is how you install all maps to the Nuvi (or any other Garmin device). As an aside you may not be able to get the maps to work without a registration code and you'll have to pay to get that. Sharing maps like this isn't strictly legal
  14. I originally downloaded it as a GPX - then exported from GSAK as a .csv - then opened that in Excel and deleted the data I didn't want. Thanks
  15. Ding In the spirit of fairness whoever of Rutson or kehotee get online first can ask the next question as they were both correct really
  16. I've been trying to find out if I can do the same. There seems to be some kind of suggestion on some sites I've found that suggests you can get adaptors and drivers for WM but I haven't been able to find anything concrete yet. I have a feeling it isn't possible but I'm going to keep trying It seems like such a useful application to have a modem for a PPC that I can't understand why some of the telecoms companies haven't tried to grab this market.
  17. Talk about a quickfire round!!!! Another quick one as I can't think of a better question. I changed my sigline a week or so ago to the current one: "I thought I had an appetite for destruction, but all I wanted was a club sandwich." Who said it?
  18. eel yak asp wren bull lion owl char hind ape seal ant vole collie fox bat 16?
  19. Surely that's the decision of the question setter? So opinions are no longer welcome on Gc forums? figures. I don't see where I said that! Is my opinion any less valid than yours simply because I disagree with what you posted?
  20. How do you determine what info is in the overlay?
