  1. Try turning off GM, shutting down FF, restarting your computer and then starting them all up again. If that doesn't work them maybe clearing your browser cache and cookies may work?
  2. You sure you're logged in? If you are then it may be worth posting on the website forum where you may find someone else that also uses this method of viewing the site?
  3. Like The Hornet I simply export to the PDA from within MM using PDA >> Export Data to PDA (I use MM Navigator/Europe and not MM OSGB). Also I use a special MM Macro to create the overlay within GSAK. I think it's Lordelph's one but it's been there so long now I'm not sure! They're definitely his icons I use though
  4. If you have Mapsource then just upload the track from the GPS and view the details of the tracklog. Just make sure that you upload the active log and don't save it on the GPS first as by saving the track you loose lots of info
  5. Loads in my garden....maybe I should put a cache there Antihistamine maybe? AFAIK you can get a spray relief too that numbs the area and takes away the itch. Might be worth adding to your caching kit?
  6. It can take weeks (many of them!) to get the permission back again. AFAIK it goes to a central person to deal with it but they also have "important" things to deal with so geocaching probably isn't as important to them as to you
  7. I'd probably log a DNF if I wanted to go back some time and try again but not if I was going back pretty quickly. it's possible to filter the GC.com account page for DNF logs only but notes would include bug drops, event notes, etc.
  8. I've been transferring all caches as POIs and in POILoader leaving the default setting for proximity alarms (which I think is 1km?) but never get the alarm. I also never see the POIs appear on the screen. Anyone knwo how to fix that on the Nuvi?
  9. AFAIK no Garmin GPSrs support Memory Map. I'll be very happy to be proved wrong though FWIW I have a Nuvi but have never been able to proximity alarms working on it
  10. I don't want to hijack this thread and certainly don't want to rake over some very old ground but the point was that GAGB Best Practice and guidelines are there for their members. As a non member I'm not even going to be aware of them let alone bound by them! That doesn't mean I disagree with them. Peter has explained very well how he used to handle this and, as I've always found with Peter, he's managed it very very wisely I also don't wish to hijack the thread but I should have explained my point better. The GAGB guidelines (in the same way as the Geocaching Ireland ones) are not GC.com Guidelines. However, they are extensions of the guidelines put into a format that has specific relevance to the UK and/or Ireland. They are not enforceable but many of them are common sense and I will refuse a cache based on them if I believe there is a valid reason that I can stand over. The phrase that I quoted from the GC.com guidelines gives me the leeway to do so. I'd also like to make the point that as a reviewer I always try to work with the cache owner to try and modify the cache to meet the guidelines. I always prefer saying yes over no
  11. Oh Dear!! So I agree to GC guidelines for listings and then find I'm bound by an organisation I was somewhat opposed to when it was set up and am not a member of! This phrase on the guidelines page covers a multitude of things many of which are outlined and explained in the GAGB's "Best Practice" guide.
  12. I'm making assumptions here but if it's a standard MM cache then it's at a Motorway Service Area or similar. One cache there is enough and I can understand why yours was turned down. However, if the other one is gone then report it as others have said and it will either be replaced or archived fixing the problem either way. Is the owner of the other cache active?
  13. That drives me nuts too - not only have you polluted the enviroment with dog poo, you've ADDED to the environmental damage by leaving a plastic bag as well. Why???? Sometimes folks will do that at the start or partway along a walk and then collect it in the way back. Saves carrying a warm bag of dog poo around for a walk
  14. an iPAQ is a PPC which runs Windows software. They tend to be more powerful than a Palm and will run Memory Map and all the other software that you need. If you really need that then is up to you. However, if you're struggling with PQs and that level of technology then possibly a Palm is simpler and a better place to start.
  15. I knew someone would ask that AFAIK the FindStatGen Macro does that as one of its options. I thought I had it included in my (now out of date!) profile but it's not there after all Anyway if it's not that Macro it's definitely possible.
  16. Some owners dislike it but that's how you do it. GSAK will do the same thing for you without using the site or a TB. If you do decide to go the TB route it's good manners to delete logs once you're finished as they have no relevance to the cache history. They're just there for you.
  17. Nope site has crashed but GSP are aware of the problem and working to get it fixed
  18. Only the trial version is free. According to the link below it's £70/€89 to buy http://www.memory-map.co.uk/acatalog/maps_...pe_edition.html
  19. Sorry Alan but that's a pointless argument you're making. Jenn has been around a long time and so has that avatar. I've seen an awful lot worse and by trying to make an issue out of it you're distracting from other more valid points that both you and others are making.
  20. As I'm not a forum moderator I'm not 100% sure but anecdotally I think it's a facility used by moderators to keep track of indiscretions by forum members. After so many violations of the forum guidelines you get a certain ban. The more violations the sooner the ban and certain violations receive longer bans. As to why you've received the warning then you should have received a reference in the email telling you which thread it was in. If the post was so bad then it may have been deleted? Someone may have reported one of your posts or it may have been spotted by a moderator who decided that it was inappropriate.
  21. Collapse and inspection aside I'd wonder if cracks and crevices of an ancient wall were ever a suitable spot for hiding a cache!
  22. AFAIK that only works with Memory Map Navigator as the OS version doesn't allow the addition of your own maps.
  23. Downloading the track to Mapsource and deleting obvious erroneous points has served me well in the past. The spikes in areas of bad reception and chicken scratchings when searching for a cache are pretty obvious and easy to remove.
