  1. Can you guess where the cache is ? This is the view you get as you walk up the hill.
  2. Saw this while in France, I think their guidelines are slightly more relaxed than in the UK. Here are pics of a couple of the actual cache locations. PS. The signal strength being on top of a mountain was excellent. PPS. So was the view. PPPS. This is a must do cache.
  3. I bagged 16th June, the same date as Edward I of England no less. A different yesr though, 1239.
  4. Or for claiming dubious the armchair caches.
  5. I put my trust in Yoda, 'Left, you must turn, at the next junction' 99p download, probably free somewhere.
  6. Reading material for you. http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/sub-menu.php?idCat=9
  7. I do no planning at all When I get within about 1/2 mile I start looking for the green Public Footpath signs and then park up. Generally works, but not always.
  8. I use TomTom to get there and then use the Garmin from there on. For a software compass try looking here... http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/modules.php?name=Downloads
  9. I've off to France for a couple of weeks soon so... Know of any TB's with French links/requirements. Or with wishes to go up a mountain or visit the Med. Oh and are within easy reach of Milton Keynes so that I can pick them up.
  10. I read somewhere that chocolate is poisonous. The lethal dose for humans however is 31 lbs. In the interests of science I am willing to undertake a test. Donations can be sent to ......
  11. Or buy a cheap PDA. I dropped mine on the road yesterday, hard enough to eject the CF cards. Didn't really mind. PS It still works.
  12. Yeah, what did the Romans ever do for us....
  13. In the 1960s NASA spent more than $12,000,000 researching and developing a pen that would work upside-down and in zeroG conditions. The Russians used a pencil. I've got one. It's my geocaching pen 'cos it really does work in all conditions and it's shorter than normal to fit in your pocket. Present form the In-Laws, didn't know they were that expensive.
  14. I got one of these, technically 2 cables which plug together. http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/...product_id=2285
  15. I always do this B4 I leave home, just to be sure.
  16. These are UK sourced units I presume, with a 'proper' receipt... Mine's US sourced and was wondering about Warranty, not too fussed now.
  17. Fibberrer http://www.garmin.com/outdoor/products.html#discontinued
  18. Google found it The original http://www.dartmoorletterboxing.org/index.htm The catchall http://www.letterboxing.info/links/?id=20
  19. I bought a Legend which came with a 'copy' of Metroguide Europe. Soon after I went paperless with an IpaQ and then bought TomTom. I rarely use Metroguide now. May I suggest you consider a 2ndhand IpaQ, a 'copy' of TomTom5 and and an interface cable. TomTom5 get's you near and the GPS takes you the rest of the way.
  20. GCNWFY is less than 0.5 mile away. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=gcnwfy
  21. Thinking of getting a WiFi card for my PDA, but how many freespots are there out there. Had a quick look round the Net and they seem pretty scarce. Are there any Forums on the subject. PS I want FREE ones not payable Hotspots...
  22. PS Anybody flying to Girona can do it easily. I'll be going skiing in a few months, if you can wait that long.
  23. I'm going down that way in about a month. My name may give a clue However, I/we hadn't planned going that far south. We were planning on going to St Angles which is within about 40 miles, but in the mountains that's a long way. I'll have a look at the cache situation in the area and have a think.
