  1. See this article in the Groundspeak Help Knowledgebase. I got the email from paypal with the 17 digit code, but when I paste that into the "Subscribe" box, I get the following error message: "If you have paid by eCheck, it can take 4-6 days before your payment clears. When we receive a message from PayPal we will notify you that your subscription is ready. This membership does not exist." I haven't gotten an email from gc.com. thx jimmy
  2. I signed up this morning using Paypal, how long does that take?
  3. Today I did the FLUME RIDER cache 7 miles west of Reno, you walk along the Truckee river. Great scenery. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...f9-2552e26c0b28
  4. yes, it's only a few miles. i was there 2 years ago.
  5. So who made a list for Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Portland, Salem, etc going south to San Diego??? How/where do you find/search for these lists?
  6. The significant difference is that the old road to the area is closed but another way in is available.
  7. I'm not sure what you mean, if I list it, it'll be with a new name, so the archived records will still show her as the original and final owner of the old listing.
  8. If it's listed on another site, those people aren't coming to it. All log entries match what is at geocaching.com
  9. The cache container etc. is in fine condition, no reason not to keep using it.
  10. I agree, but if the owner doesn't respond, then what?
  11. Someone placed a cache 3 years ago at a scenic place near where I live and she isn't very active now. The last find was January of this year. So she archived it. I went up there recently and everything is in perfect condition. Now that that .1 mile is up for grabs, should I just list the cache as mine now? I'd give it a new name and mention in the cache listing the old name, so people who've been there would recognize it. It's a good location so I'd like to keep it online, even if most people are too lazy to walk .3 miles on easy terrain to it. I sent an email but haven't gotten a response.
  12. >>>>>>I load my .loc files one at a time, combine them with EasyGPS companion If you haven't edited the loc files the easiest way to combine them is use the DOS copy command to concatenate them. e.g. c:> copy *.loc all then rename all, all.loc EasyGPS saves files in a nonstandard format, which in some ways ruins them.
  13. Here's a bug I just moved, almost all activity was by one person TBKT3P
  14. I canceled because there is no easy way to find caches on a trip
  15. Cinema Nevada cache is a movie puzzle like you describe, http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCJ3JP Here is one way of doing it. BTW, it's in downtown Reno on the main street, so visit it if you come :>
  16. Hard micros are a bit of a joke, because once several people find it, they start telling their friends how to find it, and it is no longer hard. They're only hard for the out of towners & beginners.
  17. This fellow has placed quite a few caches in odd places with no view and many DNF's. My question to him: no one has found your X cache in 4 months. Is it still there? thx His answer: The cache has moved from it's original location so I really don't know where it is but I've been assured that it is there. Ummmmmm, where is there?
  18. for someone with only 1 cache, and a small one at that, you're expecting others to do what you're not
  19. I'd say the summit of Mt Fury in the North cascades NP is the most remote. After climbing the peak it took 4 hours to get back to camp, then 3 and a half full, hard days of hiking/climbing to get back to the car. The weather was getting worse so we didn't take any side trips on the way out. It was worth it tho
  20. You can't dig when you place a cache, either. According to the Cache Listing Requirements/Guidelines, you can't have: I just found 2 caches this last week that were buried and wondered about "THE RULE", soil was loose/sandy so I didn't need a pointy tool. Just used my fingers. Technically legal, but not really the kind of cache I want to spend time looking for.
  21. Its definitely not the post office. The post office in my town is several miles from what geocaching.com says is ground zero. Its not the geographic center either as in my town GZ in the southwest corner of the Zip Code. Oddly enough its the same place as Mapquest begins directions if I use my town's Zipcode and leave the street off. In Great Britain, it certainly is the post office
  22. you can list the waypoints in the text and people can print it or use cachemante
  23. Not far from Boca cache is another with a great view, Fire Fighter Tribute By Doodad Take the Hirshdale exit
  24. a rating system would be wonderful, but not likely to happen. geocaching.com is a for profit business, they don't want to alienate the 90% of the customers who place crappy caches.
