  1. You just cut and paste the same thing in several threads. Your caches are probably just as boring. I'll remember not to look for them.
  2. And if the location is poor, the view of a busy street, no historic site, is it still fun? And if you find 1500 caches in a city you're visiting, are you going to go to all 1500???? Why is this so hard? Why not just copy what Terracaching.com has done?
  3. I've found the same thing with newer ones. Older ones on the other hand seem to seal tight. I found a bag of film canisters that dates back 15 years or so and they all seal very tightly. I'll add to that, after a rain the logs in the 35mm canisters are usually wet, might as well make it a virtual.
  4. The answer is simple: Ignore the micros and go for the other 100,000
  5. 70% chance they'll be listed at ebay soon, take a look
  6. Is there a program, Palm os3, that I can use to view images (maps) on my PDA? A person can save the rand or geocaching maps to the computer but I'd like to take them with me. Not Plucker tho, it doesn't work for me. Thx
  7. And, how about if a person could look at the "Seek Traditional Cache" page and uncheck micros? Give us choices!!!
  8. Why do you want everyone to take a photo? Many of us don't have digital camera's yet
  9. I have a gpx file with 10 waypoints in it. I want to download it to a route. Easygps, doesn't seem so easy, any tips? or does another program do it easier? garmin legend
  10. I bought the $10 walmart one today, seems to fit my hand well but it is on the short side, extended it only comes up to my elbow. Should be 6" longer, but it'd probably work ok.
  11. So far I've just been doing day trips around town and have only loaded up to a dozen waypoints for the day trip. Then delete after I've found them. I'm planning some trips now and will want to put in 500 waypoints. What are the easy ways to find a particular waypoint as I'm driving along? Can I use Easygps or another program on my computer to group waypoints into logical clusters? or in the sequence I'll encounter them on the road?
  12. You misunderstand me, if you think life (or anything else) is too competitive, it's only because you are playing someone else's game. For some people geocaching IS COMPETITIVE, they brag about every FTF, every milestone, plan for milestone finds to be "special", etc. I don't play by their rules. I just ignore them And the funny thing there is that the people who are so obsessed with a FTF are the weak players! Both my FTF's were out there for at least a week, probably a dozen of the usuall suspects looked and failed, the one today was out there for a month! If you check the log, you won't see me saying it was a FTF. The other guy and I agreed we'd say it was an easy find, cause the owner likes to say that about everyone elses cache.
  13. I'm not sure what you mean by 100% text, I looked at a gpx file with a file viewer and it looked like a lot of html stuff that one would have to excise with presision.
  14. Some cache pages have a lot of useless print and I'd like to edit it out before putting it in my PDA. That way when I'm at a cache I just see the vital information. Is there a program that can do this? Here is an example of a verbose page. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d3-bf3f01bd89b0

    Zip Code Issue

Zip codes are easy to use, but I've noticed the same lack of accuracy.
  16. Some people have already made it competitive, bragging about FTF & total finds. Who cares? How do you find the good caches? and avoid the time wasters?
  17. I agree, when a person is traveling they just want to visit a few of the best. A quality rating system is one way. We could use a new system for catagorising caches, that is, the owner could list it as a good cache for out of town visitors. Caches could be tagged by the main highway that is nearby. The current system is grossly inadequate, instead of designing new attributes for toilets, the above issues should be attended to.
  18. Micros are 3rd rate containers. Why don't you try something a little larger?
  19. No need to beat your self up about this, instead learn from the experience. Was the cache in a popular area? Not hidden or cammoed very well? Try a more remote setting, at least 60' away from roads & trails. I wouldn't put another one back in the same place.
  20. So it's not cheating to only do the no brainers that have the coords listed?
  21. I've found batteries in several caches, a good trade item. Some were almost used up which is tacky. Broken items are tacky too.
  22. Reno doubles in size every 20 years, it'd be useless here.
