  1. Great Idea!

I've seen quite a few people mention in the forums that they've left a personalized card of one sort or another but it would be great to actually see a standardized template with a glossy pic on the front and stats/info etc on the back. Along the same lines one could also immortalize a special or unique cache with it's own card...much the same way sport cards not only show players but have team photos/trophy winners etc.

    A most excellent idea!...Count me inicon_smile.gif

  3. Honestly I don't think that pic is a fraud. As one who goofs around alot making spoof pics to amuse friends I can spot a "pasted" pic...... The camera is simply focused towards a distant point. Seems like the flash might of lit up his hand a tad......As for the camera date, hell my digital constantly defaults to '98 due to a broken/loose battery hatch........Nope... This pic's real.

The log is actually very easy to make ponyboy. It just a PVC tube covered in expanding foam insulation. I can't take credit for the idea as someone (ugggh I forget who..) originally posted the idea for a phony tree stump. I DO find that grinding down the surface flat as well as dusting with some chalk pastels aids in bringing out an added realism.

  6. I just love "artsy-fartsy" caches icon_smile.gif Some of you might have seen these pics in previous threads but I couldn't resist contributing again. I'm currently working on a phony-rock cache.

    My old stand-by scheme:

  13. Hi Jeff,

Yes, I too tend to get funny readings under certain conditions be it a rock face, heavy coniferous forests (Especially in the rain) or in ravines. Whenever I've encountered this situation I've always backed up into a clearer view of of the sky, obtained a bearing to the cache then pulled out my compass and shot a sightline......A few times this has led me to a find where I'd otherwise of failed. Now I generally use the compass regardless on the last 20-30m to a cache as walking slowly always seems to induce the dreaded here/there/everywhere pointer syndrome. lol

  15. Hi you two icon_smile.gif

I think that's a GREAT idea. Not sure about the date though as I think I'm already booked for that weekend. Maybe the following one?...Might spread it out a bit further from Malak's as well. But it certainly would be fun to camp out in Frontenac. For those who haven't been there it's an awesome place! Also close to Kingston so those folks could attend tooicon_smile.gif Which cluster of campsites were you eyeballing anyway?....The ones closest to the "secret parking spot"? lol

Also how much is an overnight permit?

Ok I'm getting excited now icon_smile.gif)))))
