And yes, before you explain that I don't know what I'm talking about, I do have only 2 finds and 1 hide. That doesn't mean I don't know what constitutes a good argument as opposed to an ad hominem attack. It just means there aren't many caches I can get to at the moment.

If you're going to bring a machete out into the woods and swing it around, be careful. Practice first where you're in reach of medical care, and always be aware of where your blade is. Bring, and wear, leather gloves - they won't stop a direct cut (I have bloodstained proof, see below), but they'll protect you from a glancing blow.
I nearly lost the tip of my left thumb
while clearing a trail (on my own land, mind). Before I left the wilderness for more settled parts, I became a big fan of the woodsaw blade on my Swiss Army knife - it's slower but I can still count to ten without taking my shoes off...evilrooster

I just found a cache I had previously searched for with no luck. Because it's a popular one (well, for my area, anyway. We're a bit short of cachers & stashers over here), I didn't want to clutter the cache info with a "found" as well as my first "not found" log.
(I'd had good reason to post a "not found", since the previous cache in the area had disappeared. I had failed to find the new one after an hour of searching, albeit on a steep grassy hillside in the pouring rain.)
So I amended my "not found" log to turn it into a "found". I didn't delete the text about not finding the cache, just added some about coming back again and finding it this time.
But since I'm also watching this cache, I noticed that an edit of a log doesn't generate an email (nor should it - think how many people do minor corrections on their logs!) That means the cache owner, who emailed me to tell me that others had found the cache recently, wouldn't know that I had found it.
In the end, I copied all the text out of my original log, deleted the original log, and pasted it into a new "found" one. Upshot: notification emails went out, all my search notes are in one place, and the cache logs stay uncluttered.

I wanted my first cache available by a certain date. Having read all the threads about approval speeds, I submitted it well in advance, at about midnight my time (4:00 pm PST). When I got up the next morning, not only was it approved, but the approver had sent me a nice email saying he liked it!
What a great way to start stashing!

3 days a week, I break things for a living, and I'm all you programmers' worst nightmare. Yes, I'm a software tester, though I prefer the term professional vandal.
I work for a large bank.The rest of the time, I haul a toddler around in a backpack and make the house look pretty.
Hobbies? My major obsession at the moment is bookbinding. Between the lack of caches in Edinburgh (no car, toddler gets impatient on public transport) and the weather, geocaching has not reached obsession status...

I had a seven-stage historical multicache, with descriptions for each stage, and was faced with the unenviable choice of seven caches (probably to be rejected) or leaving out all the detail that made the stages interesting.
So now I don't have to! 17,000 + characters submitted in one description, doing it right.

I had some (non-geocaching) GPS owners testing out a cache series I'm working on last week, and we ran across an interesting phenomenon.
One particular cache was about 30 metres behind us as we stood in a relatively open square. There was only one large building nearby, on the other side of us from the target. So I was quite surprised when the GPS told us that the cache was beyond the tall building, in completely the wrong direction!
Has anyone else had experiences of bouncing signals in urban caching? Should I add a warning text to my caches, or is this part of the challenge and expected by urban cachers?

Multicaches...can someone point me to a good example of one? I've been all over the FAQ looking for a clear definition of one.
The problem is that each of the points needs a bit of explanation about why it's significant to the overall story. If I do them all piled up into one cache, then the 5,000 character limit is going to gut the descriptions.
Or do I do the six virtual caches, and include the information for the seventh in each one?
I know it's a pain for the admins/volunteers to give one-to-one guidance, but I wonder if someone in authority could tell me how I can make this work? I think it would be a fun thing to have in Edinburgh, and I have done rather a lot of research on it...

The new rules make me mildly anxious about something I've been working on for a couple of months. It's a set of seven virtual caches that map out a piece of interesting local history. The coordinates for the seventh cache are made up of numbers on buildings, gravestones, etc. from the first six. Sort of like the Sherlock Holmes cache in London, but more geographically and thematically integrated. It should take 2-3 hours altogether, and cover about 3 miles of Edinburgh's Old Town.
So -
1. Would such a series of caches be acceptable?
2. How do I post the seventh cache? At 00 00.000/00 00.000? As a locationless one? It's not locationless; there's one and only one place to go to log it. I'm just not posting that location on the web.
3. What suggestions do you have for how to log the final cache? Email me to tell me what the object of the quest is? Or some other idea?
Thanks for any help/suggestions.
