Because you seemed like a vacuous simpleton asking about "what kind of batteries" and how you hadn't "bought any in years". Disposable alkalines was the BEST recommendation for someone in your perceived situation until they learn a little more. You provided NO amplifying information in your first post. You also noticed (or, maybe not) that I further recommended Sanyo Eneloops, which is a VERY respected rechargeable battery here. Others recommended it, too. And, my La Crosse BC-9000 charges the NiZn batteries just fine. Inquiring about battery type makes me look like a simpleton? I noticed the setting in my GPS. Not sure how a question makes someone look "dumb." It's a shame you made that assumption about me. Especially when you could have done some research using my previous posts and found logs, if you wanted to make the effort. I guess it's just easier to give a snarky reply. This will be my last post to you before you're added to the ignore list. No need to reply to my posts. I was *simply* trying to get more information on battery types. This forum is a wealth of information (usually). Besides your posts, I'm thrilled with the information provided in this thread! I learned a lot. And no, I hadn't bought batteries in years. But I ordered a recommended charger that does come with four batteries. I'm thankful for all the helpful replies!

I want to see sad DNF faces on my googlemap.....
SeekerOfTheWay replied to naturemama's topic in General geocaching topics
Presumabley, onece you went back and made the find, it would change to a smile. Exactly, or the more reason to get back there and turn that frown upside down Unless it made him so depressed he couldn't go out. I like the idea. Just for quick viewing of which I need to try again. My last DNF really hurt because it was a mile in. -
Yes I did! Thanks! I have 1000 caches loaded on my Colorado. And my multi was published yesterday! Hooray. I'm working on long hike hides next. Like 3+ miles one way.

Sex isn't vulgar. I don't find the cache page inappropriate In any case it's up to the parents to decide what the kids read. Keep them off that cache page if you find it vulgar. Little kids won't even get the reference. Older kids may, and so what? I guess no harm if they already know! I like caches with a personal meaning behind them!

Just read all the logs. If it's a hard hide people are going to search hard. You CAN'T be stealthy when searching hard, I've tried. Ha. Seems right that it was archived since security gave em the boot. The CO could have given a hint so the hunters wouldn't have been so conspicuous. There a D5 caches near me in a pavilion. That place is slowly getting picked apart....that's what happens when you hide hard and have tenacious cachers! That's why I always hide easy!

Red and Blue directional arrows?
SeekerOfTheWay replied to SeekerOfTheWay's topic in GPS technology and devices
Thanks, all, for your patience. I finally found it under Map Options! -
Cool, thanks. I really like the idea of listing a neaby location that's scenic!

Red and Blue directional arrows?

Red and Blue directional arrows?
SeekerOfTheWay replied to SeekerOfTheWay's topic in GPS technology and devices
Thanks for the advice guys, but I can't find that setting. I go to Setup/Heading and I see: Display North Reference Compass Nothing about bearing. -
The CrackBerry is surprisingly accurate! I found over 300 caches with my BlackBerry. Try the Geocache Navigator app or BlackStar, which is free. My mistake at first was that I relied too much on the gps since I didn't have any geosense. Then I tried big containers, in easy locations and I got better. Have fun! As far as what to carry, at first I just worried about having a pen so I brought like 6. Now I carry a whole backpack of items since I like to hike and cache. Your learn what you need as you go. Get some metal tweezers for removing logs. That was my first "tool."

What do you keep in your pack
SeekerOfTheWay replied to Billham's topic in General geocaching topics
Ditto! Except I don't have a shelter. I'll have to look into that. Here's some things I carry. I just got a new REI pack that I love! I think that's about it. Here is the emergency bivy bag that I have $16? Good deal. Thanks. -
I never heard of reference points! I'll have to look that up! Is that like a virtual?

Where To? Going to a saved Waypoint
SeekerOfTheWay replied to SeekerOfTheWay's topic in GPS technology and devices
Ok got it. Ha. I didn't know that I could click on compass mode or maps mode and it would still have the waypoint as my destination! Neat. Is there a way to use the backtrack feature in compass mode? -
Where To? Going to a saved Waypoint
SeekerOfTheWay replied to SeekerOfTheWay's topic in GPS technology and devices
Oh I see. Just put it in compass mode? I wanted to see a topo map of my loc and then the cache location. So I can see the canals. -
I used my Colorado on a longer cache hike today. Near the GZ (150 feet) I noticed that I started getting further away from the cache even though I was still following the red line. I turned and headed so that distance was lessening and I noticed I was now following the blue arrow? What do the two mean? I thought the red arrow was the one to watch?

Ok. Thanks. That's what I was wondering. I hid my first multi today (not reviewed yet) and had to move a stage because it was close to someone else's cache. Thanks. Was just making sure.

Where To? Going to a saved Waypoint
SeekerOfTheWay replied to SeekerOfTheWay's topic in GPS technology and devices
Yes, I did. It says "Route Calculation Error: No roads near starting point." Is this because I don't have the North America SD card? How do I get to stage 2 of a multi? -
Can the stages of a multi stage cache be less than 528 feet from another traditional?

I went out on a little hike today and I saved the car as a waypoint. When I was at the cache I hit, Where To? And selected the car waypoint. But the GPS said no routes available. How come? I can't seem to navigate to a saved waypoint. Any help? On a side note I LOVE the Tracks feature! I had that turned on so I was able to backtrack back out of the forest using that. Was awesome! Just followed the arrow and line on the map.

Oh ok. Whoops. I just noticed that's the same poster that told me to just get regular batteries. Hmmm. Sabotaging me! Haha

How far from Cachetopia?
SeekerOfTheWay replied to Tatooed Lady's topic in General geocaching topics
In my cachetopia I'd find new parks and trails with every hunt! Hooray! I did find one cache at a vegetarian grocery store. That was cool! -
Both That's great, thanks! I don't know the difference between the two kinds yet but I'd like to get both to compare. The Colorado last so much longer than my BlackBerry. I'm excited about that!
