  1. Maybe twist it away from "geocachers" and focus them on "caches"? UDesignit finders would select a cache in San Diego County that they really enjoyed. I'm sure Yrium would appreciate this approach since the time of his passing to now has seen so much change in the type and style of caching in SD. Remember the "Scenic Caches of the Great American Southwest" that Radical Geezer put out? I was fortunate enough to have collected a set of these and they are just spectacular. Many of the caches no longer exist but they live on in the cards he made.

Better yet, after a year of selecting the next "cache" victim and collecting the YriumCacheCards we would have a collection of cards dubbed "The Best of San Diego County by San Diego County Geocachers SERIES"

  2. Thank you Jason for bringing us together.
Yeah thanks Jason! And thanks for making RocketMan, Toby's Gang and I feel old by doing the Basilisk without "a stinking rope."

Hey! But your one of the few who can say I DID IT!! I always try to remember this..."there are no rules, no record books, just FUN!" Congrats!

  3. I've been looking for information on the plane crash that left the engine and fuselage at Jet Engine. During my search I found this page that lists Crash Sites by Latitude and Longitude.

I wondered if any of you more computer literate folks might be able to turn these into a Google Earth KML file.

I can grab the coordinates with GPS Coordinate Grabber but I have no idea what to do from there. :P:P:P

    Anyone? :P:P:P

  4. WANTED: SAN DIEGO GEOCACHERS!!

FOX 6 (XETV-TV) San Diego would like to run a live broadcast with local geocachers, talking about geocaching, and actually geocaching next FRIDAY the 13th (my favorite date). We would be on the Fox in the morning show so they anticipate at least 3 live feeds through the duration of the morning show (5:30, 6:30, 7:30, etc.). The only request is, that we are awake (coffee), excited (coffee), and can talk somewhat intelligently about the subject (coffee). So can FATTBOY show up with his wig and donuts? :) The reporter, Sherri Palmeri, even suggested we could place a Fox6 News Cache (mock) or release a Fox6 News travelbug on air (ooooh aahhh). I suggested the central area to broadcast could be somewhere near Mission Trails.

So, anyone want to volunteer and become the next morning star? :)

    Did you get any volunteers????

I would like to know if I should tape the whole show (you never know what's going to happen on a live broadcast :) ), and I'm unable to watch it since I'm working at that time. Thanx!

Canceled. I think it was the whole Friday the 13th Jason thing.

However, Sherri would like to possibly do a taped broadcast sometime in the future. Maybe Rabbit Peak?

  5. Benchmark hunters need more features

Can we add some features to these pages

I think we should be able to

    bookmark benchmarks

    Watch benchmarks

    just like a cache page.

    What do you think?

I agree. Would even be nice to make bookmark/favorites lists.

  6. Next Monday (10/16), I'm heading out to Tomb Raider with Eric from 'Eric and Hill'. We're planning on renting a 4x4 (X-Terra) for the trip and if anybody want's to tag along to split the cost it's not a problem.

Start time: around 6 am. :anicute: We'll be gone all day since neither of us have done any caches in the area (The Basilisk is another cache we'll definitely do).

    Anybody interested????

If you work, take the day off - Remember, even a bad day caching beats any day working. :anicute:

Four Wheel drive not needed, it's just a luxury. High clearence is a bonus, however, Mom's sedan is even better.

I made it out in my Mercedes car...

  7. This is a sad day for the geocaching community. Another APE cache bites the dust. Our thanks to Dep&Uno&Co & 2Wheel'in for all they did to keep the legend alive. RIP

Myself, D-Jollymon, and GoBolts found this cache all within a month of each other, weird. Hopefully those of you who have never found a Project APE cache will have an opportunity to find one before they are all gone (FYI. The one in Illinois-Blind Creek just went missing).
