  1. Ah, but there are ways around that and so Gaffer Tape with a magnet in was invented (must get round to fixing that one that I thought was magnetic and wasn't)
  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one trying this - I stuck my fingers together last week putting a magnet on a Nano. I'm getting slightly obsessive about magnets right now (be afraid, be VERY afraid) TOS
  3. It's the Ollies (IIRC) and I also seem to remember that you have to eat off it or something.
  4. Did we make it? missed out last year because of numbers
  5. Well, I guess it gets round the "You have to leave them there for 3 months minimum" rule [][][] I've been thinking about this thread most of the day and I think I've come to the conclusion that everyone else has. We all play the game our own way. This is an unusual cache in itself because like the Bolas Heathens said, actually it's harder to do than most other virtuals. Personally, I have enough to do, trying to find the time get traditionals and wondering when the camping season starts without getting worked up about this.
  6. 'sok, it appears that Hazey logged it before it even appeared [][] hmm I was about 4th to log!!! I'm all booked in Hey, you logged it on Saturday
  7. 'sok, it appears that Hazey logged it before it even appeared [][]
  8. so where do we start? what do we have to do? I have caches and caches ready to go TOS
  9. Ooh, can I get Bedfordshire before someone bagsys?
  10. That sounds rather good Mr. Dew! I'll have net access while there, so I'll let you know which days I'm free... Just be careful Personally, I'd leave it a couple of weeks for the rain to subside. This is what happened to someone we met yesterday. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...8c-d6c28b89e038 Went to attempt the first 11 yesterday, aborted the idea quite quickly!
  11. That sounds great. Any ideas when? I think the Tiger and I might be up for this. TOS
  12. And I guess I'll be on Bacon Butty Duty in the mornings as usual too! Ooh, that's definitely worth waiting for
  13. Well, if everyone's going (and I missed this last year) I guess I ought to put an attendance notice please. I'm bringing a Tiger with me and two rugrats. Can't wait for the camping season already!
  14. Cheers for all the encouragement. That's the problem I have: it seems easy enough to describe it on here, but how do I put it into a few short words to put into each individual cache? TOS
  15. Okies, I've a load of caches I want to put out but for the end prize (puzzle cache which involves picking up clues in the others plus solving a simple puzzle) I have had an idea. Anyone used this before? As the first to find prize, a ready-made cache. Inside that is a smaller ready-made cache. Inside that is a ready-made micro-ish cache. Inside that a 35mm film canister. Inside that a smaller pot. Inside that is a nano. It would be nice if someone gave it a name which included russian dolls (mebbe like a series) but of course, I have no control over this and couldn't be mandatory. In fact, I can't even stop the person using whichever receptacle they picked up as a useful container. Basically, the idea is that the FTF person places the ready-made cache as is somewhere. Their FTF prize of course is the next size down and so on until the nano is put out. Now of course, the FTF person doesn't have to take it or place it (it would be nice if they did) but what this basically SHOULD guarantee: 1. FTF should be a different person each time 2. Lots of local caches get placed Whatdya reckon?
  16. Watch this space.... gonna put LB on the map shortly [] 8 built and raring to go (if only I had the time.......)
  17. In addition, those of you who (like me) seem to spend their summer at camping events, the following site is very useful: http://www.tomtomfree.com/ It has all sorts of POIs on there, the ones in particular I've been using are: Supermarkets Camp sites and suppliers Banks (rather than just cash points) Stu
  18. GPS? Etrex Legend Orange M2000 + Bluetooth receiver + GPS Tuner Gecko 101 Time caching? 7 months How did you find out about it? A bargain forum!!! Someone was going on about a cheap GPS and put a link into the GC site (Hence the reason it took me a year to find my first one!) I already had a Gecko because the speedo on my boat was broke and it was cheaper than getting the Speedo repaired. Most in a day? 19 during TDWs unofficial event FTFs? 3 or 4? How do you take your listings with you? Depends. Usually paper, sometimes on the PDA Favourite 5 caches found excluding events (no getting out of this one!) Crows Peak (definite #1) Down In the Park (my first find) Plough Series Southampton City Walls Last Train - Swanbourne (just because of the container!!!) But there's many many more that I'd love to mention, especially ones in Cornwall, Devon, Shrops, North Wales, Cheshire and so on (and all the lovely locals like Alibags who do fantastic Canal caches) Favourite 1 cache set? Quarry Worry What roughly is your "Found" to "Did Not Find" ratio? officially? 144:1 How many caches in the dark have you found? Not enough! Probably 2 or 3 5 caching annoyances? Muggles (especially in London and Oxford) People who don't clear up after their dogs Geolitter Micros in large woods when a Regular would have been better People leaving lids of caches 5 caching pleasures? Country Air Sea Air Caching as a group Events Friends Easiest find? ooh, easy answer at first, then realised 2 spring to mind. Sir Bedivere's Dragon Vigil - the only cache (to date) I've done with Tomtom alone! M1 drive-by series, Jn16 - Didn't even need to get out of the car!!! Hardest find? Three Locks - still can't find it (even though noobs have found it on their first time out) Hardest puzzle completed? Gone Fishing - half of my skin was left here Gary handed it to me when he needed it adopting. Hardest puzzle yet to complete? no idea Hence the reason I haven't completed it!
  19. Well done guys I have a feeling judging by someone elses logs that they also did a 24 hour marathon
