  1. I know this doesn't put a good light on us here in the states, but a lot of my travelling coins have gone missing also, some right away, some later... But the coins I sent overseas (or coins that made it over there), all are still moving. I get emails about their progress just about every 2-3 days or so. I hate it, but the numbers speak....

  2. I've probably got about 18-20 coins travelling, 3-4 have apparently gone missing for some reason or another, every now and then one that appears to be missing will show up somewhere. Usually it's from someone who picks it up while on vacation and doesn't have a chance to log it until they get home. For the most part they are going good, especially the ones overseas, those seem to move at least 3-4 times a week each.

  4. mines out there and traveling has been for a while

That I can believe, those folks across the pond know how to keep coins moving, I sent Scaw a few activated coins (3, I think..), they have been travelling great ever since! The coins I put out travelling here in the states have not moved near as good, some have not moved in a while with the cache being found several times since the coin was dropped... (gone, thinks me..)

  5. Having been at GW4 this past weekend, I saw numerous containers with "DRR" written on the outside. Didn't know what it meant until I found this topic. If the previous record holder opened the container and signed the log on every find, it would put this record run in a different category IMO. Not taking the time to sign the log is not something I would think theses cachers would do under normal caching circumstances back in their home areas.... Wouldn't be a valid "caching record" to me. I'd want my name on the logs if I "found" all those caches. We weren't part of any record run, found only 130 caches or so while in TX, but all logs were stamped with our "mark" on the log page.

  8. I've found them pretty cheap at a local coin / card shop, what I use is a baseball card case 2.5"x3.5", put a piece of craft foam in it with a hole cut out the shape / size of the coin, that way it can be seen from both sides and there is room above or below the coin for a sticker with "mission" info on it. glue it shut and drop it in a cache. I got the idea from a post here, forget which topic...

  9. Maybe you could put the coin in a clear plastic coin case, glue it shut, that way the coin could travel and not be defaced. When the "winner" gets the coin, he could break it open and keep the coin.

    just an idea...
