  1. Do you ever really lose that excitement?
  2. is there a cachers with disabilities section of the forums? I think that would make a great section, and would be very informative, and resourceful. I know there are lots of individual private sites for this sort of thing, but is there an official section on the forums for it?
  3. wow thanks for all the really great suggestions, concerns and comments, I always expect a few silly remarks, cause i make them as well. so no worries. yes i was thinking about placing this cache that is why i was asking, if it turned out to not get a single person interested, i would not place it, but several people on this thread have said they would like the cache, so i will find a place and submit it to my local reviewer, bless his heart, who will have the last say i guess. As for keeping muggles out.... well.... I will be placing this in a location i will be scouting out throughly, to make sure its secluded enough to not be muggled. as for keeping critters out, i think nymphs idea of carabiners, on four sides is a great idea. and one worth implementing. maintenence would be tough, but not impossible. and i may or may not leave a cat scooper in the sand box for people to not have to get their hands dirty to find the items. the sandbox would be the cache container, and i would fill it with found objects, some of which i already have, from all over the world, that are made to last in the elements, or i would be putting them into containers which could withstand the sand, and heat. I can only fill it half way up with sand to keep it easy, and easy to maintain. since the digging all happens inside the container, there is no significant damage to the environment, except the killed grass like someone mentioned underneath the container. But if the cache is under tree cover, it doesn't matter anyway, because grass has a hard time growing there anyway.
  4. Oh i was gonna troll here, but it appears I already did, so ill just post something of insignificance. MEN ARE BETTER THAN WOMEN!
  5. the whole backside of this guy is white, i could ask people to sign it with a permnaent marker or sticker or something like that, this is a good idea, i think i will do it.
  6. there is one here in orlando which forces people to drive all around town, i wont ever do that one, just because i dont care about getting every smiley in my area, and i think it may be a small final container, wow, let me drive all around town for a small container. im sure its a very cool cache, and takes you to some very cool places, but im not interested, and thats fine, there are a few people here who have done it and liked it, and im sure if it got approved, (which if it were submitted to my local reviewer it wouldnt stand a chance) some people would love it. people with a lot of free time, and free gas on their hands. but most people would read it, and realise they had to drive hundreds of miles, and pass it up for the next lps
  7. but I agree, if you can make things easier on both yourself by knowing where you can absolutely not hide caches, and on your reviewer by not submitting caches within that .1mile radius than more power to you. im pretty sure most reviewers do this quick check first thing when they are reviewing submitted caches though, it seems to be standard protocol. and probably one of the biggest violations of guidelines. as people generally know not to place caches on railroads, highways, or government buildings. "generally"
  8. I agree, the only reason so many people have done my only multi is because a) i stink up the forums and they want to check out a cache of mine to see how much of a jerk i am. 2) they know from reading the entire cache page that they really dont need a gps after the first stage, because all the stages are well within very very short walking distance. people generally want to complete the task, but not have to spend all day let alone the gas for hundreds of miles doing it. Im not saying someone wouldnt go for it, but you may get only a few logs a year if that. however, i think you should go for it, you could prove us all wrong, and im sure you would have some serious fun setting that multi up. and maintaining it.
  9. Hmm.... So therefore i need to provide gloves at GZ, make sure it has a cover so critters do not get in, and frequently "maintain" it by sifting through the sand for unwanted objects. all very good suggestions,
  10. i agree with brslk. fireworks are like sparklers, and spray light showering things, firecrackers are nothing but gunpowder in a paper container with a short fuse. both are bad ideas for a cache container, but they are two different types. course since most caches get wet right, then all those fireworks, and firecrackers, are useless and no longer dangerous anyway.
  11. in a plastic turtle self enclosed sandbox. What are the rules on this? I will not be using any tools to do so, but my hands, and not disturbing any of mother natures natural earth, since this hide is in an enclosed plastic turtle, it should not be encouraging other people to bury caches unless they like the idea of burying them in a sandbox. the idea behind this cache, I want to make an archeological dig, for one of my next caches, and i want people to have to "dig up" with their hands, some large objects to include the cache container from a sandbox. all questions comments, concerns, will be considered, negative spiteful comments will be laughed at. and the world keeps spinning.
  12. That couchsurfing site is REALLY cool! I never knew it existed. Thanks for mentioning it! Its how I used to travel the country, until i realised i had to travel on everyone elses schedules, i soon stopped couchsurfing, and started living out of my car, i enjoyed life a whole lot more at that point. shes right, you can travel for super cheap, nearly just the cost of your gas, if you are a guy, you generally have to eat out of dumpsters, but she appears to be an attractive woman, with a social attitude, and we all know those attractive social women can get just about anything they want for free from gullible men who are trying to get in their pants. Its just the nature of the beast. my only concern is she should try not to rush her travels just so she can get to the next spot and buy another t-shirt, because in the end, all she will have are some facebook pics and a t-shirt, no real memories of these spectacular places, when you travel you have to take your time to really enjoy the places you are in. otherwise her around the world trip in my opinion is more about the numbers.
  13. turns out theres a cache around there already, so proximity ruled me out in this case, oh well.
  14. Actually, it was in boot camp (25 years ago in my case, not 30) where I learned to ridicule newbies. And yes, we used that same term, newbies. I'm just sayin' Good point. Moreover, get rid of that 10% and the next 10% will be targeted. Get rid of them and... pretty soon, who is left? I'm picking ashnikes. i didnt do nothing, you cant prove anything. I just de bus driver.
  15. So that was you walking with Ashnikes and Geobain yesterday... hey how do you know i can walk? I am offended.
  16. I just had an idea for a cache blind or v.i. people could do... I could find a rural place out in the woods, and have a tie line lead them to GZ, than at GZ there would be a series of objects, with different relief shapes on them, or perhapps just different shapes all together, or even a bunch of ammo cans, and they have to figure out which one is the real cache, i think having a tie line leading them to gz is a cool idea, and having some sort of way to make say a log or a rock in a pile of rocks stand out through some sort of man made shape on it, is a cool way to have them spend a few minutes trying to search for it, but still be able to find it realitively easy. any suggestions?
  17. and my personal favorite.... best geocaching day of my life. still have some leftover jerkey if anyone wants it.
  18. What are you on about? You're such a quitter you gave up on quitting. Ni?
