  1. see how that could be confusing to a n00b? so what you are suggesting is i make my existing cache, lets call it cache A the begining part of the multi, which will include cache B (the cache in the building near by) so that i can bypass the saturation rule as now both active caches are within the same multicache, and therefore allowed to be closer than the 528? ft? hmm.... sounds like a sound plan except cache A is for showcasing the local college radio stations physical location, and cache B is for showcasing the cool rooms in the college library next door, so in order to make them fit into the same multi it will require a lengthy (or witty) explanation, so lets say I figure out how to tie these two caches together in a multi, the steps of action would then be as follows, correct me if im wrong. I would have to archive both listings, including cache B which is still waiting in the que to be approved by the reviewer.... then make a new cache listing, which would be a multi, which lists both cache A and cache B as phyiscal waypoints, and if i chose to make one of them hidden from the cachers, i can do so, but it will still remain visible to myself and the reviewer, but at least one of the stages of the new multi has to be able to be seen for the cachers, it doesnt matter which stage as long as one of them is shown, most people prefer to make the first in the series shown, but it honestly does not matter, now if i hide them, the containers at each of the waypoints must contain the coords to the next (or another) in the series of waypoints, but does not have to contain swag nor a log of any kind, as long as the final stage or one of the stages contains a log i am good to go....
  2. hmmm.... define physical .... as in listed on the cach epage for everyone to see? because couldnt i then just hide the waypoint from everyone but my reviewer, and then it would make it a virtual waypoint, seeming how you would have to visit spot a to get the choords for spot b?
  3. just a few things about multi caches im interested in knowing from a wide audience. first off, do you own a multi cache? if so why did you go with a multi instead of a regular? second, did you go with a multi to bypass the saturation rule on one of your caches, now waypoints? why did you chose this route? third, as a cache finder, do you avoid multi's since sometimes they can not only be way more difficult to get the smiley, but they may run you all over town looking for the next stage in the cache. the reason im asking is because i want to place a cache (too) near another one of my caches, in a small college campus, this new cache i was trying to submit fell within something like 250ft from the first cache which is already approved. This new cache, i am trying to get approved, is on the 4th floor of a nearby building, and is showcasing a much different part of this beautiful college i know most people without a cache to hunt would never think about visiting. so i decided i could make this new cache part of a two stage multi-cache, first cache being a ways away from my other already activated cache, so it fits within the guidelines. thereby making this other cache, the one on the 4th floor the second stage, and thereby a waypoint of my new multi, what are your thoughts on all these multi questions as well as my new idea for this multi cache?
  4. ah... that explains it, it also makes sense, as some people have serious issues with their reviewers, ive seen some posts in the little time ive been reading the forums from angry cache owners, upset over their reviewers decisions.... this would keep their reviewers names cleaner to an extent, and allow them to play the game semi-anonymously, or at least without any inside drama from those angry cache owners. It would also allow them to find those caches they were worried over anonymously, and to come back and question the cache owner as an outsider, not a reviewer. This makes much more sense now. I have not had any issues with either of the two of mine, although im sure they get annoyed at me, they are always very nice when responding to me. I was just wondering about the low finds count.
  5. the two i have encountered in my home radius, both have like 50 some odd finds, which is weird to me, because only having 50 finds seems like a small number to have under your belt as a reviewer. Although, both are premium members, and both are supiriorly knoladgeable on the subject matter, and both have been extremely wonderful to me, and informative on placing my cache, as well as patient. Im just curious why the small find count? Maybe they dont list their finds? Do your local reviewers have a small finds count as well? This then makes me wonder what then is considered by Groundspeak to be an acceptable guideline for applicants who want to become reviewers... ***note i am not requesting reviewer status, i would do a horrible job at it, im just curious because it appears your finds number means little to Groundspeak if you want to become a volunteer reviewer. SO what then does greoundspeak require of you? i imagine you have to at least be a premium member, and have had to of read the guidelines more than once, but what are the rules after that? *****Note to the two local reviewers of mine who i have dealt with, i am in no way making fun of your small finds count, nor am i bashing you for it, it just came across as strange to me you have such a small number of finds, and yet you control all the hides in this area (a number well over 50).
  6. excellent, ill make this cache up this weekend, and see what the response is, (if I get it published, I seem to annoy my local reviewer, bless his heart)
  7. Calm down, i was not offended, i just expect to get some non friendly responses to any new post i make these days, heince the comment "cue negative, and worthless comments below" response ive been adding to my posts lately. I also don think the person above you who was mentioning the "is it ok to call forum members derogatory names" was refering to me, because i dont remember calling anyone a derogatory name on here, ever. back to the orig topic, again, this is an idea i had while trying to think of caches that would combat the non thinking non creative ones in my area. but i was asking for opinions on it, and how to improve the idea, so i ignored the comments which either blasted the idea with no reason, or the comments which were off topic altogether. no worries. still open to suggestions.
  8. If you were planning on placing it anyway and KNEW you were going to get "negative comments" then why even post it here? you mis read that post, the negative comment section, being the group of people who hang around the forums like buzzards waiting to kill off people who ask questions. I also knew some people would take the topic seriously, and provide some good insight, give me some feedback, and honestly tell me if they would like to find one or not like this, a few people said they would, and therefore there is my justification to put one out like this. sure people are going to grab this one for the numbers, sure some people are going to take letters and leave garbage or nothing in return, thats not the point. Its an idea cache. the names on the letters, are first names, or may even be scratched out if necessary, some of the letters may even be fictitious all together. there is always a possibility anything paper will get wet, and destroyed inside a cache, thanks captain obvious, but if i make it a nice cache container, and take some necessary steps, as well as perform maintenance often, i can minimize such things from happening. as for the idea of telling people to bring wine, and a love picnic as they sit near this cache in the lovely park its going to be hidden in, i think thats a great idea. love letters can inspire people to be more romantic, they can also make any reader feel good, depending, and people that visit this cache will be more than welcome to take and leave the letters. got me thinking a bit more about it now, since im going to suggest them to bring picnic items, ill leave a bottle oppener inside the container, as well as a few "mood" cds. and suggest they bring a cd player. this cache will be awesome, for those who want to take the time to visit it for a little longer than the number run people.
  9. Im thinking much bigger than an ammo can, and in a romantic spot sure, no problem theres a lake downtown orlando, lake eola, that has giant swan paddleboats built for two, perfect for couples, with a skyscraper backdrop and of course real live swans waddling around its a gorgeous park for such a cache. course i believe there is a few micros there already, so ill have to figure out how to distance mine form those, as for the love letters that came out of the garbage, i wouldnt put any in there that were tossed in say the kitchen trash with chicken goo on them or anything, but the majority of the time i find love letters they are in a shoebox with pictures attached, perfectly clean and dry and always interesting. and printed love letters? bleck, i want people to have to struggle through everyday handwriting. and if this sort of cache is not for you, put it on your ignore list, for those of you who are premium members.
  10. keystone beat me to it, dang that was fast, there must be like 300 of you working round the clock. the pipebomb thread was designed to bring out the two faced nature of some of our "beloved" forum frequents. as well as to encourage them to put me on their ignore lists, because thats easier than me having to figure out how to put them on my ignore list, since the majority of what they post is derogatory, worthless, or just plain boring. its served its purpose, and it had only been up for a few minutes.
  11. well glad i got the negative comment section out of the way, im gonna place it anyway, ill let my local reviewer decide if its a good idea or not.
  12. i thought you had me on ignore? did you change your mind?
  13. coldgears... i posted it partly because you mentioned i would say something about a pipe bomb, and partly because i thought the thread about the cop taking the guys cache was funny, but needed to be one upped.
  14. now i have to pay their medical bills!!! I hope the hospital takes american express so i can collect on my frequent flyer miles.
  15. i want to take some of my old love letters, and some of the ones i find while dumpster diving, and make a cache theme out of them, none of them have last names in them, so theres no real way of knowing who wrote them, but i think it would be fun to find a cache filled with love letters people wrote to each other. im not sure if it has been done before, but i plan on making one, so at least other people can find one like this, and when i perform cache maintnenece, i can read other peoples love letters they dropped off. what do you think?
  16. ima cowage stupent awnd i lub geocating. Im in muh fist year of cowage. sigh. me tawk pretty sum day
  17. I've never tried out any of the paid Android geocaching applications, but I am a fan of GeoBeagle / GeoHunter (the latter is branched off of the former, so they're pretty much the same. GeoHunter has some nicer features, though). You can find instructions for GeoBeagle here: http://www.cacheopedia.com/wiki/GeoBeagle to the OP check your pms, i emailed you some ideas.
  18. a much smaller version of this power run just popped up right down the street from my house, GC2A5MG going to nab them in a few minutes after i recharge my cell phone of course, hahahahaaaa (insert witty jokes about how my smartphone is nowhere near as amazing as your gps unit.)
  19. Let me answer nicely before you get bashed, the reviewers are volunteers, (even though in my mind they need to be paid by Groundspeak, since i believe they do more work for the sport of geocaching than most of us combined, but thats another topic) this means they review new caches as soon as they get a minute to do so from their daily lives, which demand their attention just as much as im sure your cache does. And since they are also not being paid to do such a service for us, im sure its not top priority. there are however generally a multitude of reviewers in just about every area, but your cache may just be in an area there are not many reviewers, and the ones that are have been busy for the past 24 hours. my last cache took close to 10 days to get published, (but honestly, the reviewer and i bumped heads a few times, because i didnt read the guidelines as throughly as i should have) and in his defense, he posted some sort of reviewers note roughly every 2 days for it, if you havent heard from a reviewer after a week, you can always delete your old cache page, and repost it, it may have gotten caught in some glitch someplace, but to my understanding your new cache should have been recieved and reviewed within a week, dont quote me on that, but they do a good job at at least notifying you they got it and are looking in to it.
  20. a good smartphone can hold you over for a while, otherwise there is a section on the forums for buying and selling gps devices where you could get one for cheap, or you could try craigslist, and pawn shops. you could wind up with a real good one super cheap.
  21. yeah i agree this is a great idea, see? thats the beauty of the forums, some people need to rant about things that bother them, and some people post honest solutions about how to fix those things some of us have to rant about, and you can either keep ranting, or take the advice, and it really doesnt matter, its about community, its a hobby / sport / job we all liek and there fore want to exchange stories, rants, raves, and reviews about,
  22. eh, the old schoolers are just sore that they spent a bunch of money on a fancy gps unit, a printer, ink, and paper to find their nearest caches, and dont have an android phone with a good application that lets regular users get the majority of the benefits of being a premium member without the fees, as well as having the power of google maps in your pocket. note to mods, before you ban me again, understand i did not mention anything unholy, im just tired of people who do not have a smartphone or have never used one, complain about the ability of it to perform as well as if not sometimes better than their expensive dated gps units. After all, its not about the tools you are using to find the treasure, its whether or not you find it that matters, hmmm i just got a cool idea for a multi, that involves using a gps to find the first stage as instructed by the guidelines, but has a cool old school satellite view pirate treasure map inside to find the final cache. Ill start working on it this weekend. (even though im sure its been done, and discusses on this forum several times over, ive never done it, and have yet to find one like it yet, so therefore it is new to me, and even if it has been done before, it will be a nice change of pace for all the local shrub and lps micros in my area.)
