  1. I heard about this it's a bummer, I wouldn't have mind grabbing a couple hundred caches in one day, lol!
  2. I noticed when purchasing the coin on Groundspeak there was no option stating they do custom engraves, so I just emailed GS and ask them if they can do it. I'm just a little worried that it's too late because I bought it before asking them about the engraving details. I should receive a response Monday and we'll see what they say. But like the above post said, I could always take it to a shop and have it done there.
  3. Yes! this helps a lot! thank you sir
  4. Hello, I just purchased a 1000th find Achievement Geocoin for my friend and I was wondering what the second blank spot is for? I know one is for the trackable code, is the other for a special message? I also noticed when ordering GS gave an option for "Special Instructions", is that so I can them stamp a custom name in the blank spot of the coin or is it just for shipping purposes?
  5. The SLRRT Series in Oceanside,CA! It was my good friend gummebjorn's last week in California and before he moved to WA we all got together (Team Cachco)for one last run on the S.L.R.R.T. trail which had 51 cache's on an 8 mile bike path! We hiked the whole thing in 7 hours and it was a blast, 50 finds and only one DNF! here is the GC code for the beginning of the trail: GC259ET
  6. I'm sorry but Geocaching is a fun, exciting and usually positive game played by many. It looks like they are just using to idea of caching as their plot and then twisting it into their own story. In my opinion it's just bad publicity for a family fun highly respectable game. I don't mean any disrespect to the movie makers, I am sure they worked very hard to put this film together and it's probably quite entertaining for you horror fans. It's just not for me...
  7. If you do use a plastic container I highly recommend you paint it! this will protect the plastic from cracking in the sun and heavy weather conditions overtime, plus makes excellent cammo.
  8. I love the idea of sig-swag! I see it all the when doing large cache hunts in one city to another. It's funny because when you see that particular item in a cache you already know that person has been there without even reading the logs haha! I was doin this when I first started the game by taking a sharpie marker and writing ss7 on quarters, but I got lazy and stopped. My good buddy p72pi works for Staple's and his sig-swag are "out of stock" tags from his store for cache's with little to no swag in them.
  9. Agreed. simple as that. If I don't have the proper tott's to retrieve and sign the log then I will not log it as a find, but rather write a note saying I will return when I have the the right tool and/or pen to sign my find. If a cacher gets lazy and doesn't want to play the game fairly then he or she will be treated the same. I take pride in my FTF's and I don't get many (always working) and this situation would piss me off, but like others have said, it's not that big of a deal to stay mad about. If you really want justice email the cache owner and just ask to be CO-FTF! so the lazy cacher doesn't feel completely robbed.
  10. wow! now that is one ghetto cache container...FAIL
  11. I have seen players use colored letters in their logs and I would like to know what are the correct codes to do that? I know some vary for certain sites to read and I have tried a couple, but nothing works so far. Also can I use html coding in my (public) profile info?
  12. I am sure that you do have respect for COs, but the only way you really know it's okay to post a picture of a cache is if it's your own cache. If it was me I'd be really unhappy if someone else posted a picture of my cache container without my permission. It doesn't hurt to ask though, maybe a cache owner will be happy to let you post a pic, but don't put a picture up without asking them. You are right. The title doesn't say anything about cache ownership. However, a kind of group consciousness has evolved over the years, regarding what is OK, and what is not, in these forums. For instance, asking for the solution to a puzzle in these forums is not violating any rules, but it is frowned upon. Cool cache containers are similar, in that an explicit, exposed view of the cache can serve to thwart the purpose behind the cool camo. On an individual basis, for my own caches, I wouldn't care, as I know the percentage of cachers who visit these forums is infinitesimally small, but it is still considered bad form. While not including the GC number is a good way to keep your pics from being spoilers, by reverse engineering your finds folks can sometimes figure out which pic goes with which cache. Yours is not a capitol offense though, so I wouldn't sweat it too much. Yeah you guys are right, I made a mistake and I learned from it. The pics have been deleted and I thank you for the way you expressed your concerns rather then others. Thanks!
  13. Unless your the owner of these caches it is very rude to post the pictures in the forum, warning or no warning. If they were my caches I would really be torqued. But the third one is certainly borderline illegal ... buried. i totally agree with that do you mean the second one (being the bottle cap) no different than sprinkler heads, i dont agree with those I totally disagree, the thread just says cool cache's....nothing about them being your own. I have the up most respect for caches and their owners. It's not like I'm including the GC code or anything. I will delete the pics since it offends you. For the record I love that bottle cap cache! That one was one of my favorite finds and we found it very quickly (difficulty 4.0). I have seen very evil hides and that one is not as bad as others.

  16. oh thats right, thank you This might be too late, but I changed my name yesterday and I did not have to re-register on the forums. It took a few minutes, but the forums eventually updated. I changed mine a couple weeks ago, and don't remember reregistering for the forums. but maybe I did, who knows. Yep, all my logs back to 2003 now say Mr.Yuck. Per GPSfun's post, I don't see where plain old "snapshot" is being used. I did see the several variations though. And of course as I type this, the guy is still "77Snapshot" Yeah I lagged a bit on the name change because even though "snapshot" didn't come up in the search it still prompt me that name was in use. So I decided on "snapshot7" which turns out good because it's still very similar to my old name and shouldn't confuse my geo-friends and name drops in previous logs when out with my team. Oh and yes the forum converted on it's own without the need to re-register! Thanks again everyone!
  17. Since my very first cache I have been taking pictures of all the creative and unique containers I have seen. I will search my Cache Archive and post some cool ones later.
  18. sweet thank so much for your replies Woodruff!
  19. Meeting other cachers is cool, but you dont need them to gain experience. When I first started it was with 2 other co-workers of mine and we just went out finding cache after cache like every other day for a few weeks in a row. You will start seeing a lot of the same style containers and very similar types of hides. It didn't take long for us to develop out "Geo-Senses" About a month into the game I started running into other cachers at random places. Most were met from discovering vehicle TB's! Three months and 271 caches later I finally went to my first event (plus flash mob event) and that was a lot of fun. ....oh also racing after an FTF is another way you meet fellow cachers, it happened to me twice.
