anyone with input on volume?
-
p.s., I like the meridian gold over the sport track because its more expandable. Merigold can hold 128 mb memory.

You can't even compare the two units. The meridian gold is fantastic under a tree canopy, with the 3.12 firmware anyway, and the garmin gps 45 was terrible. I bought the garmin gps 45 in case I ever got turned around while hunting. Thing is, it sucked recieving satellites in dense tree cover. However, the main reason for this is that a magellan meridian gold is a 12 channel parellel( not sure thats spelled right) channel receiver. The gold can track as much as 12 satellites simultaneously, where the gps 45 has to track one at a time, big difference. The gold is a great unit, if you are considering a new unit, I would get one. If you have any questions about them, let me know what you need to know.

Is there anyway to turn up volume on meridian gold gps. I cannot hear high pitched sounds that well. With my gps 45 I could hear the beeps great, but barely can hear my merigold.

I don't like the 4.02. I initialized and reintialized and initiazed some more to no avail, same thing. Tried the expert upload which only seemed to work for a few minutes, but started again with the same problem, plus the screwed up breadcrumb trail. Hope it gets better than this. I put 3.12 on, and it works great. If it was something I was doing wrong, I would have the same problem all the time with any version. Its not just me either.

just reload 3.12
i have it if you want a copy

much better!!

20 to 30 feet is typical. I have seen it get me within a couple feet, but not all the time.

i see the same question over and over myself.

I like the new features, but it seems to me that the satellite lock is not as good as it once was. I am in no way saying its junk, but whats the deal with some people having problems, and others don't. I am typically one to not follow directions and figure things out on my own, EXCEPT electronics, they are finicky. I updated my merigold "by the book," yet I still have satellite loss. The first time I loaded it, it was terrible, so I redid it and let it outside for 15-20 minutes to acquire sats. It also seems that it takes longer to get a lock too. I will do some more testing when my friend gets back from maryland. He just got a merigreen with version 3.08. I will time the both units and compare other aspects as well. Its just frustrating to see some people having no problems while others are having so many problems. I am also not saying the unit is junk because its the best gps I have ever owned. I am not knocking anyone or any of the meridian series of gps.

i am sure most people followed instructions to the T. If they didn't, I would think that people who updated to 3.12 when that was new would also have problems.

I got it for 67.00, but if you look at magellan's web site, its 149.00
-
its only designed for an estimate of where you are, not for driving your car under no visibility conditions. Its not worth the 149 that magellan charges for it.
-
as far as I know, it doesn't. Its pretty good on batteries though. I have a gold, and seems to be ok. Also, if you turn waas off, i think its that more efficient, but I am not certain.
-
its cool now. Thanks for the help. I let it out last night for about ten to fifteeen minutes, seemed fine after that. I will check it today in some cover.
-
seems to be working fine now. I reloaded everything and let it sit outside for 10 minutes untouched
-
cool, glad you found it.

i had a problem getting it to get a 3d lock yesterday in an area that I never had a problem with. I hope something is done. Anyone else have this problem? I posted firmware 3.12 on the yahoo meridian group if anyone wants to revert.

i still have a copy as well

How is everyones meridian after the the 4.02 update. I could not hold a 3d lock at all today for some reason. Never had this happen before.
-
as far as I know, it is not possible as of yet.

funny, i just recieved a version of mapsend topo. On the celophane, it had a sticker saying 3.00b. When I look at the version in the about section of the software, it says ver. 3.00a
